In the same year, they released Dark City, Matrix, Truman Show, The Thirteenth Floor and eXistenZ... Is someone trying to tell us we are living in a simulation since 1999?
How could that be if people don't all sleep at the same time.
Dark City came out in 1998.
More like through humanity's sin and perversion and straying away from God so many doors were open for these spirits to come in that were pass a point of no return. Society will get more and more possessed, there's a invasion happening and no one knows cuz Hollywood brainwashed people to think the aliens will come from the sky. Well there not extraterritorials, there inter dimensional entities that enter our world through sin and evil. That's why governments do everything they can to discredit the bibles authenticity.
No, just that they have the science, technology and electronics to do so; along with shameless inhibitionless "people" willing to do anything to live their lives at others expenses!
Dark City came out in 1998… But, Blade also came out in 1998 and that movie has a somewhat similar concept, it’s still the idea of living in a world you don’t realize you’re living in. Living in a world populated by vampires who are controlling every fabric of society from behind the scenes.
I just learned an interesting fact about this movie: it has one of the shortest average shot lengths of any modern narrative production at 1.8 seconds. This means there is a cut almost every 2 seconds. I never noticed that when I first watched it.
It's like a visual assault. It's the ADHD jump cuts before they were a thing. Maybe it's to make you feel tired so you go to sleep.
I love the look of 90s cinematography. I want to bring that look back. Gotta shoot on real film, of course.
u mean late 90s early 00s??

This movie really is a forgotten Sci-Fi masterpiece. I always forget the guys name who’s the lead character but he also severely underrated. I don’t think he’s ever played a subpar character. He’s like the better darker haired Jude Law.
You think it's Sci fi ? The actor is you? Earth has been under occupation since 1914 BY elite luceferians .
Every generation they change the language the social construct, they socially engineer and indoctrinate the youth ( a metaphor for the sleeping ppl in the movie)
Until they usher in the N W O .
Rufus Sewel is absolutely fantastic... The acting is all in his eyes..which look really unusual, bulging ,paranoia, he looks like a man in the edge of insanity trying to keep his shit together...so powerful
Rufus Sewell's usually played the Big Bad, as in Man in the High Castle, A Knight's Tale, and The Illusionist.
It's good to see him doing the sympathetic protagonist so well -- and yet, even here, we spend much of the movie not knowing whether he's a murderer (& I'm not telling, bcs he doesn't know either).
@@steviesvideos319Rufus can through his eyes express a lot of emotions.. from this paranoid feeling, to intense power or a happiness that is just pure Bliss .
You underrate him by forgetting his name. Others with knowledge and memory will remember him as Rufas sewell.
Masterpiece.
So this John is the first anomoly who morpheus tells neo about who set the first humans free from the matrix, so I hear
Alex Proyas is amazing
I always remeber this movie in the bavk of my mind ever since ive watched it when I was a kid
Ralph Lauren there must be a good reason for that.
Same here. Once in a while, usually at night, I can't help but entertain the thought that my life hasn't always been my own. Of course, it stops there, but it's chilling to think.
Underrated movie 💜
Matrix, Inception, Doctor Strange. You can cleary see the influences in this scene alone.
This movie needs to come back for midnight screenings somewhere.
We are the movie
Let’s have a movie party my friend.
@@Miles.Morales true. You should come to the movie party too!
Proyas is king with Dark City & Knowing...unbelievable stuff.
So proud to say I saw it four times in the theater. I also vividly remember the website that took a million years to load lol
Absolute Magick. Where has this amazing film making gone? Probably best Sci Fi ever...
Anyone else thought about Truman Show...just found out this came out before the Truman Show
Before The Matrix too
This movie is Magic 🎁💥👽

WRONG WIRED indeed, one of my favorites, with 13th floor.

@@LordMalice6d9 omg how could u say that
Love this film, it's one of my all-time favourites. Luckily I saw it at the cinema when it was released
One of the few movies I loved so that I had to watch it twice at the theater.
Whenever I notice a new building on a street I've walked dozens if not hundreds of time a light goes off dark city then the matrix refreshes
I was fortunate enough to see Dark City and X-Files double feature back in the day at a revival house. Seeing DC on the big screen was a real treat, since I had already seen on home video.
So unique and glamorous
The sky is so hazy and dark in this movie, most of the US is like this now…every day sun sets earlier and rises later according to the weather app, but sometimes u can see the light peaking from behind the haze and u know it’s not supposed to be dark outside
It's my 3rd time in a lifetime seeing visions. They never last more than two weeks at a time. More people need to come out with these and connect
It's only after I fall asleep I know I will forget everything again. This is not my first time.
Happy Dark City Day!
Rufus Sewell was awesome in this & The Man In The High Castle.
and The Diplomat
Fucking love this movie.
love this film, never noticed the weird ADR
replacing Aussie accents with American accents, perhaps?
yeah wtf is that
Did they forget the mic was off when they filmed the husband and wife? They sound horribly dubbed for some reason.
One of my favorite movies, Great story and cast but rarely see it shown anywhere
1:35 is unintentionally funny tho
i think it's intentionally funny
@@tmattoneill This movie is inspired by the City of Lost Children by Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amelie), which is even wackier and very funny at times. There's a number of references and nods to it in Dark City, so I'd say that yes, it's intentionally funny :D
incredible that this whacky movie had so many high class actors
the greatest movie ever made - imho - we named our band after it. love it - the most human of movies ironically and a tremendous narrative of the love that makes us human
Here to inform that you sent this comment 16 hours ago.
If it was the "greatest movie ever made", they wouldn't have revealed they were aliens so soon
what's your band called?
God I fucking love this movie

This soundtrack sounds so much like The Matrix
I like it here in this place its his place here and he is an angel man with his kind hands for us to play with on her and her nubile fragile nymphetamine frame.

This movie does? I was trying to understand the point of the movie before buying. Sounds interesting..

fun fact: this isnt a movie. its behind the scenes of how google does its android updates.
Pretty much
I like the lady in the hair net and flannel robe I think she is a darling Hollywood doll and I am a saint like her in my plans.
why would they dub the married couple's dialogue?
They look like helghast from Killzone
So the cars fell asleep too?
They have the power to shape-shift buildings at will, so shutting down a car wouldn't be much of a problem.
The vanilla version of the matrix
It’s funny how he complained about not being able to *sleep*; because it was 🕛 for him to sleep 💤
John Smith?
Yes, the Obergruppenführer lol
A Woman Outside A Low Tent
But honestly this film is one of the most underrated masterpieces ever made. This is in my(!!!) humble opinion, almost better than The Matrix. Maybe it's on one level with that. That's probably a little better but not much! And that shows that what a great and overloomed film this is. Comparing it to one of the best sci-fi films aand films ever made, and that wins just by a bit? Instant classic. And not. But how?? This is really in the top 20 films ever. Meh, brilliant in every aspect.
Is the flickering normal? It’s kinda hard to look at.
So before everyone falls asleep they manage to put their foot on the break and manage to keep it there

In the movie 🍿 Dark City🍿
The Strangers could manipulate reelity, AT LEAST WHEN THEY WERE IN A HUMAN BODY🤯
Perhaps when they were changing the Reelity itself -Aka- the Dark City.
Perhaps what was truly molding the City was the memories of the people being changed. What the people "knew" to be possible in their minds is what changed their surroundings.
🙏
Now, consider things like the Mandella Effect, the jet plane fuel paradox, how the twin towers vaporized into dust etc etc
We have a very long list now of unexplainable/unfathomable/indefinable things in this reelity.
Perhaps the most unexplainable thing here is you 🤔
Food for thought

If there alien why do they still do things involving time. 12 o clock they knock everyone out but y at that time.
INCEPTION? Anyone?

BILL BURR, VIA STAR WARS AND AUSTIN POWERS!
The amount of quick jump cuts makes me nauseous 🤮
I kinda wish the secret underground civilization of bald people that control the world had been kept ambiguous throughout the film. Took away from the mystery aspect and made the film a little too goofy imo.
Mystery without an answer is just nonsense
@@seokkyunhong8812 There's plenty of great movies that leave the mystery/supernatural aspects ambiguous (take Kubrick's The Shining for example) so, in all honesty, I think that statement is just nonsense.
