- Big Pine Lakes is quickly becoming a very popular hiking trail in California. It's an extremely scenic hike with crystal blue waters. This hike has a variety of routes to take, but we took the 13 mile North Fork Trail to Lakes 1 and 2 and in this video I tell you all about what you can expect if you're interesting in visiting here for the first time.

Actually there are 7 lakes in the Big Pines basin. Also an amazing glacier beyond that rock formation called Temple Crag
If you like hiking to alpine lakes without a strenuous path, check out the Ruby Mountains in northeastern Nevada. They're gorgeous.
I love this hike! Seeing these beautiful lakes in person is a must! Great video!!
That is beautiful. But damn that hike. You go girl!
thank you!! that hike was intense but it's definitely worth a visit ;)
Fun hike and every picture you take looks like a post card.
Beautiful hike, enjoyed watching

Interesting. Thank you Tiffany :) I'm looking for some inspiration for my own hiking video and I've learned a lot.

FYI that drone footage is illegal.
Why is a drone being used illegally in the wilderness?
excellent video
Great video ! 👌🏼
I took less than 3 hours to get to lake #3
I have a cottage in Big Pine below. Going to try the hike next year
Hi, awesome vid! Question:
So I'll be hiking up to the 2nd lake with 5 other people. 2 of them are more experienced (though one hasn't hiked in awhile), the other three are intermediate or average. It will be my first time hiking in such long-distances. I've read that it has snowed up to 6 inches 4 days ago, and it looks like it'll be the same tomorrow (which is when we are going). I believe none of us have traversed through snowy conditions such as this.
Would it be possible for a beginner, such as myself, to hike up to the 2nd lake in these conditions? I am aware that the total hike for all the lakes is around 16ish miles. We only plan to go to the 2nd lake and we will be heading back afterwards. We won't be camping.
I've hiked smaller distances before, less than 2.8 miles in not much steeper slopes. The conditions in that hike were much hotter than what I've read. I've also camped out at Joshua Tree for a couple days and climbed some of their larger rocks. I also camped out in another desert (forgot the name) and traversed through it's dark and enclosed cave system. In regards to snowy terrain, alls I did was sled down Mountain High. That's the extent of my experiences.
To be honest, a slight bit nervous? As I've read in some of the reviews in Alltrails.com, even experienced hikes said it was difficult. Still excited though! I've seen videos about it, such as yours, and it looks beautiful and not as steep.
Thanks!
Hi! Thanks for watching this video. So nice you get a chance to visit these beautiful lakes. In my honest opinion, I don't think this hike is good for beginners especially in the snow. Snowy conditions can be a lot more tricky/dangerous if it's slippery. If you don't have experience hiking often, this hike might be more doable if you do a lot of cardio or have good endurance. If you do decide to go, I recommend bringing A LOT of water, keep warm, and pack lightly as possible. Any extra weight can add up and get tiring. Goodluck!!
Where are you from originally? I'm from MN and I can't seem to find flights to bishop airport. Says united has flights directly from Denver but couldn't find any still. If anyone can answer that'd be lovely
Please don't use drones in wilderness areas.
Why
It's illegal - also there are many reasons for the law - just please don't use drones in federally designated wilderness - it's protected for a reason @@JesusChrist_IsTruth-LoveForALL
@@JesusChrist_IsTruth-LoveForALLbecause it is illegal.
You better get in shape l o l
More scenery less selfies 👍
Love this video! When did you do the hike?
Thank you! I did this hike in September over Labor Day weekend :)
There's actually 7 lakes in Big Pine Lakes, me and 3 girls hiked it back in September of 2020 😊
WOW SO PRETTY! REMINDS ME OF BANFF
Do you know the direction now to get their and trails to take
Nice video!
How hard was it training? What’s did you do for bathroom? We’re their bears?
It’s a three hour hike to the second lake ?
I am curious too
Hi, how about service there? Verizon or T-mobile gets connection?
Nice video...
Awesome vid! Question…
Overnight backpacking. Is it mandatory that we bring a bear containers to store our food? Or is it only highly recommended only?
I’m getting all kinds of answers. Thanks!!
where do you even get camping permits at?
@@tannnerrr recreational.gov
And just drink the glacier water or eat snow you don't need water been there a hundred times
Did you get altitude sickness?
Cinder Cone in Lassen VNP is one of the best hikes in CA! But Big Pine is an amazing area and not as popular because of Yosemite and Sequoia.
oh awesome! I'll have to check that place out. Thanks for sharing!!
Great video👍🏻 what type of camera did you use to record the video?
Thanks!! I mainly used a Fujifilm xt4 to shoot and also the DJI Mavic Air for any aerial shots
Admitting to flying a drone illegally in the wilderness?
I'm pretty sure you struggled so much on this hike because you didn't take the altitude into account. If you drove up from LA you would have needed days to acclimate to the altitude. Just my 2 cents. Awesome video though!
Don't think I can do this hike. Lol...is there something shorter hike to a nice lake
The south fork of Big Pine Lakes is a lot easier. It’s an hour shorter and less of an incline. There are a few lakes that are almost as blue and beautiful as the 7 north lakes.
Greetings from Pakistan
You felt wierd because of the elevation!
Why is a drone being used illegally in the wilderness?
I want to conquer the Palisades
Do you need an overnight permit?
If you are planning to camp overnight, you do need a permit. They get reserved months in advance.
Nice job flying drones in prohibited areas. I've sent this video to the forestry service. People like you ruin the outdoors for others
8 hours 🥵
Altitude
I feel like you weren't prepared, didnt bring water, unaware of the altitude. You provide 4 basic facts that apply to any hike. I guess my point is.. if you're good at editing and spend time building a channel, people (including me) will watch your videos
