    Johnny’s wife, the legendary June Carter Cash, wrote this song about meeting, falling in love with, and marrying Johnny. She was crazy talented as well. Enjoyed y’all’s reaction.

      Yes, June wrote it about falling in love with Johnny. Her sister, Anita Carter, actually released it 1st, with the original title "(Love's) Ring of Fire." Anita's version didn't do well, so Johnny recorded it soon after.

    • @Teresia12
      @Teresia12 Před 3 lety +6

      She didn't have anything to do with him on a personal level until they were both divorced. No scandal about it at all.

    • @angelabarazzone7899
      @angelabarazzone7899 Před 3 lety +7

      @@Teresia12 June Carter wrote the lyrics about her relationship with Johnny Cash. She felt being around Cash was like being in a "ring of fire." Cash was involved in drugs and had a very volatile lifestyle. When she wrote this, both June and Johnny were married, but they became singing partners and close friends. By 1967, Cash and Carter were single again and they got married in 1968. Johnny claimed that June saved his life by helping him.

    • @radicaladz
      @radicaladz Před 2 lety +3

      @@angelabarazzone7899 - still, divorce wasn't exactly the kind of thing the "civilised" Southern Baptists and country fans who were their bread and butter audience would have smiled upon in the mid-60s. Hypocrital and narrow minded, absolutely, but these two were both deeply part of the establishment AND very much a subversive presence within the country genre, compared with a lot of their peers; Johnny collaborated with Bob Dylan and recorded songs written by Kris Kristofferson, both very radical and "anti-country" in their own ways.

    Johnny Cash did love Mariachi music and did incorporate it into this song. He had always felt the song lent itself to mariachi trumpets. Mexican Ranchera and Mariachi music did have a large influence on Country music early on and throughout the years. You can hear it many Country songs.

    • @aaronpatterson2369
      @aaronpatterson2369 Před 2 lety

    • @riccardopetrina4212
      @riccardopetrina4212 Před rokem

      @@aaronpatterson2369 Western music is a form of country music composed by and about the people who settled and worked throughout the Western United States and Western Canada. Western music celebrates the lifestyle of the cowboy on the open ranges, Rocky Mountains, and prairies of Western North America. So technically it's still just Country.

    Love Johnny. Try Don’t take your guns to town. Or, listen to Home Free’s version of Ring of Fire.

    You guys do some great older stuff. I was a kid in the sixties when this came out. My father sang professionally and could really play and sing. He always said Johnny Cash couldn't sing worth a damn but I liked him. By the early seventies when I hit high school and Johnny Cash was on tv I would always watch and my dad would bitch about him. I was at that age where it was kinda fun to provoke him, you know, teenage stuff. I'm smiling right now, fond memories of my father. Make sure you two get this Beatles cover stuff straightened out in the future, no more of those please.

    If you liked this...Home Free covered this a capella and with an even deeper voice if you can believe it. And if you like songs about love sucks, try J Geils Band Love Stinks

    I don’t think he’s talking about love going bad. He’s talking about their love being so intense it burns continuously, it burns so hot, that flame of love never burns out!❤
