Michael Phelps is the greatest of all time. Period.
Fact.
unarguable.
Well. Here comes Caelab Dressel, which starts the new sentence.
@@gangyal8537 YES!!!!
CAELEB DRESSEL IS THE GOAT
This is a nice analysis.
Now I realized that to create a "small S-shape" is better to be initiated by starting to1) keep the upper torso straight 2) Right after the head enters the water, push chest down, and then butt will go up.
Tomorrow is my competition this video really helped me in my butterfly swim
Thank you for uploading these kinds of videos! It helps me a lot whenever I'm in the water.
Great Take. 1-thing tho. Phelps used to swim with a straight arm recovery. At some point he changed. I changed mine from a straight arm recovery to a bent arm for one reason, which led to the second reason: World champs 2013 50m fly. The men were sprinting with a high elbow recovery. This does 2 things:
1) fingertips enter first=less bubbles on the hands
2) less bubbles on the hands + arms already in the high elbow catch allows the athlete to go straight into their next pull. Skips the part of the stroke where you have to set the catch before you pull.
I forget when he changed it, but it was pretty noticeable. I want to say that it was after the '13 Barcelona champs.
Smart exchange: slightly shorter stroke, hold more water, produce less negative propulsion (elbows higher), get into the next stroke earlier
Edit: yup, you have the pre-high elbow recovery michael @ 7:48. Look at the bubble action around his hands/arms--yuck
.
.
He had so much flexibility in his shoulders he could accomplish bent arm recovery and reentry which actually allowed him to start his pull sooner.
Butterfly is my fave stroke. This helped
Thanks for all the hard work you put in to do these wonderful videos ❤️ love watching them over and over again ❤️❤️
You are so welcome! Thank you for the kind words and happy swimming :)
Amazing kick! Also he has the perfect arm size for swimming!
Yo Bach what u doin here shouldn’t u be composing a fugue or a cantata

Its good for organists to swim to keep in shape
It's interesting that you mentioned amplitude. I do backward dolphin kick And I realized that in order to get the speed going you started out with a wider wave and then working to short in the wave as you gain speed.
awesome. Thank you !!
Thank you for this video it really helped me swim better
Great to hear! Keep up the good work and happy swimming :)
This helps alot!❤
vids are amazing!!!!!
I love the way you; explain fantastic 👏👍😘
You are so good at butterfly
Amazing!
Michael es unico, su cuerpo aerodinamico le da una enorme ventaja con respecto a los ateltas que se pudieran acercar a su nivel.
Cool vid,i like it
Wow 🤩 that is perfect, my God, He is the best 👏👍😘🥰😀🤩😁🤓I will practice this in my swimming pool 🏊♀️
Excellent never knew up-ward propulsion existed but it does on a flat body Butterfly position, more skills to add on 🙂👍
Michael is my inspiration in this sport, that is why I love 🏊♀️
Can u pls make a video on how we can improve our long beat dolphin kick in fly full stroke and some drills too pls
Which program do you use to analyse this video❤
2 legends
You can explain amplitude much better as the height of the "sine wave" (both up and down) from its zero line.
Can you make a video for sprint fly stroke?
Hi, do we need good hip mobility to do the undulation of the butt?

sick
I would like to know which one is better for arms entry, is it shoulder width or should the arms be a bit closer and open before pushing?
Help please!
Hi John! The best entry for shoulder health and power is shoulder width. This way you can pull the water straight back and not put extra stain on your shoulders. Happy swimming :)
@@FaresKsebati Many Thanks!
WOW
Micheal Phelps best Athlete of all times yea not time timesssss
Almost forgot about the Swimperor memes 😆
time 12:33, he kick upwards is actually in a direction opposite to his motion, how does this propel you forwards? In the down kich he is extending his legs from bent knee position and then he is actually propelling himself forwards! what am I missing?
#FaresKsebati
It’s cool
No comment by you on how his hands travel under his body during the pull. They are almost touching. This varies from other videos of yours in which you don't favor that travel but advocate a wider spread, essentially a high elbow free-style pull .
💓👍great
Thanks for the analysis.... Phelps is the greatest swimmer I have ever seen and it's very difficult to follow his technique
Ours` swimming coach never told us to kick upward too much, maybe because this engages the hamstring and is prerequisite for cramps.
Our's Best swimming advice which Swimming coaches and Lifeguards should remind, beginners, even advanced swimmers is to use the Swimming fins and swimming board by the shore, instead going further in the sea, is what would dramatically reduce accidents and enjoy faster swimming.
Why do I feel like I've watched this before?!!??!?
We had to make some tweaks and re-upload! Thanks for being a loyal fan!
Sir can you plz advice whether an aged male swimmer who is also obese(above 112 kgs in weight) can learn to do good butterfly? I mean its about me & I'm 45 yrs old , I know good freestyle in deep open waters like in large ponds (with depth above 20 feet or more). And I can also do light backstroke for short distance(As water gets into my nose if i do it without nose-clips & fast for more than few meters, otherwise no problems) in deep waters as well as standing in deep waters but only problem I face in butterfly & that is bcoz of my pot belly & also I cant time my kick as well as maintain that strong dolphin kick, even if I try I cant raise my head even after 2 fly strokes to breath!! So plz advice , whether it is wise to learn butterfly with my weight around 113 kgs?
You can, just practice the muscle in the arms.
I will practice and you will see 👍👏😘🤩😎😉😀😘
When you show the photo-finish around 8:56, your insert obscures it; we can't see who out-touched whom. Could you move your insert or else just have your voice-over and remove the insert. Otherwise, love your videos.
Wouldn't it be more efficient if in butterfly the swimmer would be looking down instead of ahead when taking breath? Or would the swimmer need to pull out too much of his body out of the water just to breath?
Michael phelps 😂👍

Folks try to keep your lower legs close together, without a gap, like one fin and you will experience much more drag!

Did Michael Phelps secretly won the world record for speed while doing trainings without anyone except his trainer know it?

he has fins he's not a human

It’s easy to talk to perform it .. nearly impossible
What about Calebs technique?
Great suggestion!
Ćavić won that race, you have a videos
His shoulders are as big as his head
Strange analysis to be honest. Where is the frontal view of his arms entering the water??? The most important thing is to show whether he sweeps (or does not) his palms outwardly when entering the water and yet you failed to mention this very important thing! Do you swim yourself?
Pffff....Mutant...nuff said. Respect though.
Epic Fail
It doesn't look like he lost Beijing , he lost it.
1:13 As great as Phelps is, those are 2 red lines of BS🤭
actually caleab is faster
