Sergei Lemeshev (1902-1977) sings "The song of the Indian Guest" from the opera "Sadko" by Rimsky-Korsakov. It is another song fperformed in the live concert in Leningrad (19.12.1954). The recording is never published on LP or CD. - Hudba
A voice like none other, in a class of its own. Truly unique sound, no one will ever be able to replicate it. Wonderful singing.

This is sublimely sung; if there "must" be a criticism of Lemeshev, it is surely that he was a touch light, angelically so. However, this is majestic; one needs not understand Russian to appreciate his stunning sensibilities. His phrasing & enunciation are exquisite. Therein lay the essence of his genius for his technique & undeniable mastery of the aesthetic & esoteric are timeless. He clearly appreciated the beauty of this song, but his intuition warrants the label prodigious. Thank you.

I totally agree. Tickets to his concerts were not expensive, but it would be good to have a time-machine :)
I think that I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree-are some of the lyrics of this lovely song,and I believe them to be based on a poem by Rudyard Kipling. If I have parts of this wrong-please forgive me. As always-Lemeshev is superb. TY.
