I’m in the middle of an emergency house move so I have zero business propagating plants that I can’t take with me, but I CAN’T STOP.
Has this ever happened to you? 😵💫 And by “this” I mean the never ending cycle of chores 🙈

Is that first plant some kind of fern?? It is GORGEOUS!
@@rainseductress Yes, it's a bird's nest Fern. They are very pretty plants.
Can you drop a link for the healthy bacteria?
@@snowflaketherooster3895is a bird nest fern a hardy plant and easy to care for
How about one for that shelf, too please.
This is how all my days off go 💀 plant chore after plant chore.
Never ending!
Me too!! What's a day off?? 💀💀
Yep 😂
And then the rest of the chores get forgotten 😂
But i low key enjoy it
“What happens when you have to many plants?”
You propagate them and create even more plants 🌱 😂❤
Exaaaactly. The circle of life continues hahaha
Omg! I just died at your comment!! Can't tell you how many times I've done that while thinking wait something ain't adding up right... wait it just did add up! Lord Jesus help me!! 😄 hahaha.
too*
2minutes😂
Just because you love plants so much that it feels like a crime to throw away the pieces you trim of of your plants. 😅 But there's always a solution to this - give them to someone else who loves plants too or even try to sell them, although I haven't done any of these yet because I'm not the best plant's caregiver, so they tend to die at some point, so then I have other little one to replace them. 😅
This happens to me every week. Before you know it, 3 hours go by and you’re too exhausted to do anything else
OMG EXACTLY
Me, every day, and loving it! Wait. What day is it?
I get so happy when I’m caring for my plants is so therapeutic for me 😊❤
🫶yes!
This channel has honestly cured me of my desire to become a plant lady. Ill just vicariously watch you and save myself the headaches.
Awww maybe dabble in just a few 😂
Hahaha! That's probably a very wise decision! 😆 Two of my biggest problems are getting my plants killed by pests and having to bring many with me when I go for vacation, hoping that at least they won't die out of thirst. 🤦♀️
@@anac7096😱 you bring your plants with you to vacation?
Just get like, one fern. They're heavy feeders and need quite a lot of water, but that's like once a week, so it isn't like, a massive chore to do a day.
Plus, a lot of them (like the Maidenshair Fern) can't be easily duplicated outside of the initial pot other than the seperate plants that's in there, so you're not tempted to make a million plants out of one.
honestly one of my favorite parts of my morning is going through and checking on each plant to see what’s new, and in the summer especially, make sure no pest has gotten around to any. i love sipping my coffee and doing plant chores, but that’s just my poison!
When you have a MASSIVE root mat form like this and you’re concerned about hydrophobic soil, you can take an exacto and score the roots vertically (top of soil to bottom soil) in 1” increments all the way around. You don’t need to cut too deep, and once you score all the way around, you can give it some more squishes to help loosen things up.
The scoring is superficial in the long run, and helps the roots establish outward into the new soil
I also soak after doing this but before repotting
That is an excellent tip!!! I think I’ll go and do that
oh no, you made her go back the the plant shelf... let's hope she comes back before 1am
@@Mizu-AM lmao lost again
HAHAHA ☠️
I had a repot like this a few weeks ago but it was much worse. Bought a dragon fire kalanchoe from Home Depot and they had it potted in, I’m guessing, a mix of coco coir and peat moss. It was completely hydrophobic and solid as a brick. I couldn’t even manage to separate a tiny chunk of it so I let it soak in a huge pot of water for 3 hours. When I went back to it, it was still bone dry and completely solid. I had to separate it because the plant was already suffering from not absorbing any water. Took me 4 hours with a knife to set it free with minimal root damage thankfully.
Four hours!!! Wow. You freed the plant from soil prison!!!
Jesus. 3 hours and it was still bone dry? It couldn't have been coco coir and peat moss, they take up a lot of water once the peat moss stops being hydrophobic and lets water in.
Whatever it was, it must have been absolutely shoddy to not uptake water. Maybe pure compost, or something. It don't take much water in.
This morning, I only have a plan to water my outdoor plants. Then I notice the top crust has dried too much and needs to rake up. As I finished watering the big boys, I remembered I haven't fertilized my houseplants so went back to the kitchen to make their liquid feed. As I finished watering everything, the sky turned cloudy and cold, so I evacuated the houseplants inside to avoid the windstorm. The ones on the table stared at me as I have forgot to repot a few of them. It's been 2 hours and a half and I haven't had breakfast or gone to the loo. Fml 🤦♀️
Omggggggggg
Oh hello!!! Welcome to my "everyday club" 😅😅😅
My array of bouganvilleas and their fallen flowers mess, who reside side by side to "leaf bug prone" jasmine and lime..followed by the messy japanese clematis...then the roses gives a hungry stare...while my 5-6 types of pothos start to hover their never ending vines on top of my snake plants and areca palm...somewhere behind my back are thirsty screaming syngonium jungle amd their fondness of renting out ant colonies who have somehow mutated and are not even bothered by the regular sprinkling of diatomaceous earth...yes, do do often hear the smirks make by the ZZ , algonema and rubber plant who I think have not been watered since a month...while I dot on the beetel leaf vines amd thier tender roots...still not getting the hang of a correct water schedule for my zebrina tradescantia and tangled hearts...im surprised how these two have managed to fool my moisture meter and lives or dies on their own terms...I guess a very few would understand the hopelessness when you see your dog has shreaded each and every leaf of lemongrass while thinking its ok to pee and mark each and every pots and planter as his own...if 8 is not enought, just how many tripple stands are you supposed to have in a small home so that ypur dogs target doesnt reach the soil inside the pots???....
Well...im not even done halfway.... And oh its already 12:00 noon....let me have my morning tea now....to hell with breakfast and lunch....while my 2 arrogant monsteras roll their eyes on me😢
Living in the Indian composite climate zone with extreme heat and low humidity serves as yet another challenge to try and keep humidity levels for my dear babies...i hope you can just gasp in astonishment when I say that Iam required to thoroughly water my potted bouganvilleas everyday for them to florish. Even if I miss watering 1 day and the next day their entire limbs go limp and leaves start shedding...
So yes....im am tortured, assulted and dragged all morning....yet these are my heartbeats and I shall never have it any other way...everytime i see a bloom or a fresh vine, a new leaf, its just plain Heaven...no, im not about you- you heartless calathea!!!

So relatable! Plant life!🌸🌱
Haha 🫶
I have the exact same problem with my 350+ plants and now my partner is getting more forgiving too with me getting more plants which doesn't help. I need more time 😂😭
Need more hours in the day!
Just hide the boxes and evidence of you buying new plants😂 thats what i do too haha trow them boxes away before they get home
OMG 😳 we need grupal therapy 🥹. What I'm doing now is transferring some of my plants to self-watering pots and in a leca or pond so I can have a bit of free time and enjoy them.
350+??? 😱 That's, at the same time, a dream and a nightmare! 😅
@DamianPerry25 what kind of system are you using? It would help me when I need to go for vacation.
Needed to see this! My baby rubber plant has gotten really leggy and I know he needs a chop but I hesitate. 😅 this gives me some courage!
Lol mine got way more than a trim 😂
Omg, sameeeeee !!!!
Yup. I told someone I would be right back! An hour later they come looking for me. “Oh, I’ll be just another minute or so. This plant needed an emergency repot. It doesn’t take long but then I had this pot empty and these other propagations need to be potted!”
EXAAAAACTLY
😅 I hear ya! One thing leads to another, and then another, and still again another! Never ending cycle!! But it's all worth it, right. They all, each and every one, make me so happy!! 😊 ❤ 😂 🎉

This is also the story of my plant life on the weekends!!! But I love it!!! 😊
Hahaha 🎉
Me whenever my plants are doing good and don't need any care a particular day, I went to my neighbor's house and start taking care of their plants. Coz I'm the one who grow those plants😅. I just can't sit even a single day without doing something related to plants. Became habit and I love this habit 😅

Beautiful Bird's Nest Fern!

Thank you!!!!
And this is why I’ve stayed up til 2-3am the last 2 or 3 nights and probably will tonight even tho I know now at 3pm I wanna do some plant chores. Oh well at least it’s Friday now.
HAHA I get that
This bird nest fern can do with a pot that is much bigger cos it grows fast into all the soil. And they literally max out the soil with their roots!
I knooooow. I was delaying the inevitable
Squirrel! 😂 See … it’s a good thing … look at how much love (along with the frustration HA!) your plants got. ❤
lol 🫰
Oh I know, it’s literally never ending 😂. Think I got all my plant chores done, then boom 💥something else needs attention 😂
Seriously!!!
Same pinch.
I've just 10 pots and I grow hibiscus and periwinkle. I always worry about this part at the least, when I get to water it all...
It’s a challenge!
That plant is so perfect it looks fake😮🪴
It started as an itty bitty thing I bought at the grocery store and now she’s huge!
My birds nest just died 😭 yours is so pretty
I have to babysit mine so much I’m running out of patience. 😅
It was an itty bitty thing from Trader Joe’s last year!
As a houseplant, I approve of this.
Lol
Lol. Love this. This is so me. I get consumed for hours doing this. Your plants are beautiful.

You go, girl! Well done! I feel inspired! Thank you!
Yay! Thank you!
I was wondering what that plant is called. Baby rubber plant. Thank you! Mine smells like brown sugar

Thank you so much 🫶
Omg you are literally my green thumb soul sister 😍 I am a huge plant lover/ tree hugger, and your skills are amazing!

I heard an advice that if you just soak the entire thing in water, just dip it in a bucket of water so all the soil is covered, and leave it there for couple of hrs, it should fix the issue
😂😂😂how does a funny skit turn into a nightmare cuz it’s too relatable! P.S. Thank you for creating a safe space for plant parents to feel seen and accepted 😂

Adorable and yes.. this is everything in my life right now. 😂 ❤❤❤
Hahah
In india we do gudaai.. Literally means using something pointed (usually gardening tools) to once in 2-3 months dig into different spots n try to wiggle it. This aerates the top soil and allows enough room for the roots to breathe
Yes! Great tip 👌
It’s never ending but I love it 😀
🙌
Student horticulturalist here, you don't need to add more bacteria and fungi when you repot, we only need to do it once and the fungi creates a mycorrhizal network that will grow with the roots! Lovely video!
Thank you!!!
Yep, this is exactly how my day goes from one plant fox to spending the whole day chopping up my plants for new cuttings that may or may not survive😅
😂😂😂 It's ridiculously never ending, yet you can't help propagate more!! I totally get it!! Then i can't be arsed to deal with the propagated ones, why did i even bother!! But still feel guilty about neglecting them everyday, but still procrastinate dealing with them! 😂❤
At one point I ended up with so many plants I didn't know what do with them. Although I gave so many away, my yard looked like a nursery but still, I wanted to take care of them. Summer came and I decided to have a yard sale.
The plants lasted 2 hours and I made 1300 dollars. Needless to say, I started all over again. 🤣😂🤣
Your plants look beautiful!!!👍
Wow! That’s amazing!!
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow Thank you!
I was amazed myself at the amount of people wanting to buy plants. Now I have just as many as I had then. I think I have some kind of plant sickness. 😂🌿
😮omg, i can't with my life, house duties, and my dogs. I want it to have real indoors, like 1 in each room and 3 in my backyard. I love it when the house looks so tropical and green 💚 but looks so much hard work.
Haha I am just extra
My plants make me crazy as well. I love to propagate and I hate throwing away pieces. There’s always somebody yelling at us for attention of some sort.😅
I ADORED plants, and in this case the more the better...they transform the ambiance of a place and make it beautiful and so relaxing...a séparation from the world of caos, a mini universe of positive energy...❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Truer words have never been said, that was literally me yesterday 😭
lol you knooooow
Love this video I'm plant crazy😊😊😊
🙌🙌🙌
Two questions: Could you soak that hardened soil for a while (out of its pot) to loosen it up before transplanting? And, what is the benefit of the clear pots? I thought light was bad for roots? Is that an old wives tale? (Pretend that last part was all one question.)
Algae can grow if light is exposed, but this goes right into a cache pot so no light actually hits the roots. The plant was soaked and it still was one solid mass. Another person commented I could have vertically scored the roots top to bottom with a blade, which I may go back and do!
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrowI believe that would be the best thing for the plant. 😊
dayumm is that first plant even a real/natural plant?😮 it looks so shiny and healthy
It’s real!
The Never ending chores lol that's why I love Sundays. The only day of the week what I do absolutely nothing so I can get ready for the next day to start all over 😂
HAHHAA true
Hahaha this is literally ME 😂 I’m screaming
😅
This is plant goals for sure!
Haha thanks!
At one point in my life I had SOOO MANY plants I had no places left to put new ones! What did I do? Continued to propagate more n face them away! LOL 😆
EXACTLY
I’m totally like that too! I have to stop propagating as well, too many plant projects 🤣
My props are TRAILING now.
Really enjoy your videos like this. I follow on Instagram and now I’ve found you on CZcams. Winning!!!
Plant Mom life!!! I am just like that, I go upstairs to sew and start checking on plants and never sew a stitch!!!! lol!!!
Hahaha sounds right
When the soil becomes hydrophobic, just leave it in a bucket of water overnight. It'll soak it up, just needs to be forced to like water again.
Normally a good solution, but this root mass was solid regardless. I’ll end up scoring the roots vertically to help it out.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂loved this video informative and hilarious.
Glad you enjoyed 🥰
I saw a tip a long time ago saying if you have hydrophobic soil, then add a drop of dish soap to the water you’re going to use to water the plant in the hydrophobic soil. The dish soap breaks the surface tension of the water and causes it to be able to run through that soil more freely. Also, if there are any pests in the soil, then the soap usually helps to get rid of them. Just don’t use more than a drop or two of soap because it could burn the roots. Anyway, I tried it and it worked great. There has been a couple times where I felt like I did use too much soap in proportion to the water and thankfully I was able to just rinse the soap through the soil. I haven’t had any issues yet.
That’s a great tip!
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow thank you so much. I appreciate you taking the time to reply.
Also, doing this caused root rot on two of my fav plants because I just kept bottom watering and the water would just soak up and stay there because the soil was so hydrophobic and ended up causing the roots at the bottom to rot. So be careful! Always best to either take a skewer and literally poke and “mix” water into the soil until it rehydrates or just repot altogether with better soil.
💪makes sense
This has been my #1 problem with plants in any container when I don’t make my own soil mix. Store bought soil is usually so dry especially with peat and if you let it dry out even once it will become hydrophobic. I soak the rootball in water and gently move it back and forth to loosen up the roots so I can get that crappy soil out and put my mix in on the plants I first planted when I got started lol.
I had this happen with the miracle grow soil’s especially the succulent/citrus mix. Even though it’s supposed to be a “well draining” mix, it drained TOO well and just didn’t absorb anything.
Totally. This is also why I like making my own mixes now and avoiding peat moss.
Literally me every single day. I try to have days where i wont allow myself to even look at my plants before i take care of my other responsibilities because once i start on the plants... that's the rest of the day right there
😂
This is my life for real omg!
😅😅
Ive let some time pass and decided specifically to come back here to read what other people are saying, and the comment " what happens when to many..."
Well, now I've been there, and we all I think have been there, thought crossed mind! Ha, are we crazy ? I mean, maybe I'm overthinking it, but it's like hypnotizing when I garden and plant chores, then ideas come to mind. During all those times, im busy its lile im living a second life or cheating on my other life out of the plant world . Lol sometimes wonder if I'm neglecting, it. oh dear, I hope not. Gtg making pasta tonight
So happy I am not the only one
I literally just did this exact thing yesterday with one of my ficus tineke. 1it wasn't doing as good as before so I was checking the soil and it was just a hot mess of concrete soil and roots. I felt almost bad for just putting the mass into a new pot with better soil, but now I don't feel bad😊
HAHAHHA
😂😂 that was awesome! Just a few minutes, why do we lie to ourselves?! 😅😅
Lol 🤥🤥🤥🤥
I came home today with a potato vine my friend gave me. I was just going to leave it in its container and deal with it later, but realized I had no room for the large container. I decided to repot it, digging thru my old pots and finding a few I could put other plants in. Once I was done with repotting the potato vine, I removed the spider plant in my bedroom window and put the vine there. Then I noticed the spider plant needed its leaves trimmed, so I did that and replaced its pot, trying to find a new place to put it. I checked my mail like 30 minutes later and got the Xanadu I ordered. One of the stems was bent, but salvageable. I took a bamboo stick and twisty ties to use an an anchor for the bent stem. I rummaged thru my old pot collection, chose one and walked around my house trying to find the right placement for it. I just got done and realized I could’ve finished most of my homework like I originally intended to but plant hoarding life. So yes, I very much relate to this video. 😅
If you like fern grow all your ferns next to each other they make a micro climate and take care of them selves. The ferry I this video I think Iv had it for a year and it has literally doubled in size it's stunning and I grow it under my larg ferns
I love that!
I spent the entire day doing this. All day!
Wasn’t hydrophobic you just needed to gently squeeze the sides of the pot to work the water through. It’s only the top layer of soil that’s preventing drainage. Glad you repotted it though as the roots were a little crowded. Beautiful plant! ❤
It’s thriving now!
that ending suggests a sequel to the too many plant saga
😅
You such a champ, i dont put my plants through it enough lol
😅

Thanks!
When you have one plant, you cannot stop. Just added 3 new plants to my shelf, and i realized i had 16 spider plant runners 😅
It will only take a minute. . . 😅My every single day. 😊
Saaaaaame
You can cut off 1/3 of the bottom roots and it will stimulate root growth out of the ball/tangle. I saw a video about it recently.
I do root trims occasionally as well!
Propagation has lead to no space at my house . Now i will open a nursery or donate my plants
Yes! I’m not alone!
FYI your first plant would love you if you cut around 50% of that root/soil mixture off. Dont be afraid of trimming roots.
I know I need to score it!
this video reminded me to water my plants for the first time in like a month
😂
Bonus tip for me; I didn't know that you could root baby rubber plants by trimming them that way. 🙂👌🏽

When I realize that the time is over, i just say to all of them, grow up whatever you want, God with you all!

Everytime this happens with me also. I SWEAR TO GOD, there's some sort of TIME warp that occurs when working with plants! I legit needed to study last evening, but I noticed my alocasia polly looking sad in her pon mix, so I thought why not? it was only 5pm and oh, can't forget to transplant my cuttings into fluval while I'm at it and oh yeah! I also gotta water and prune them all. then bam! suddenly I could hear birds chirping and the sun was rising, it was 5am. 🥴😩😂💀
Hahaha omg felt this.
