  • Vancouver has a reputation of being boring. It's often referred to as "No Fun City". In this video I share my opinion on this, and go over the things that I think contribute to the boring nature of the city. I also share how I make the most out of living in this city.

    Born and bred west coaster here - but I've lived in other places and can say that Vancouver really lacks a strong sense of community and social cohesion (which is tied in with multiple factors). This really impacts all areas of civic life. The arts scene, like you mentioned, is very structured and narrow. Homes and neighborhoods are often extremely bland-looking, with minimal 'fun' built into public and private spaces.

    Boring because majority of the populants are often depressed... How can one be happy if you are busting 2-3 jobs just to make ends meet.... People there are exhausted and tired.

    I live in Vancouver...very boring city. People pretend to be friendly but don't really want to be your friend. I am an artist and there is no art...no culture no entertainment and a lot of small town mantality...I regret wasting my time there.

      Yes, same. Came here in high school, still here 10 years later in my mid 20s. Need to get my education through, but I am leaving as fast as I can. Can't make any friends, no social or romantic life. It's starting to sting seeing people I know in other provinces/countries getting married, starting families while I'm stuck as a hermit here.

    Yeah I've heard this many times. When I visited tho, the bar scene around gastown and main street seemed okay, not great but not quite as bad as expected. Is there any live music scene at all??

    Toronto is same expensive as Vancouver but their club and art districts are amazing!
    I think city of Vancouver just simply don't have budget to build districts like Toronto did.

    if you're young and ambitious, have that I'm trying to live my life to the fullest attitude, then yea Vancouver is like the abyss. that's where I'm at leaving early next year. I rather struggle and fail till I find my footing but feel like I can be in a place where I'm surrounded by an infrastructure that promotes creativity in a real sense. Plus it don't help now that the cost of living is so unbearable, I really don't fancy churning out the big bucks to live in a retirement city when I'm in my 20s

  • @ariesa9751
    @ariesa9751 Před rokem +1

    The good thing about it's boringness is that it's incredibly safe. The crazy ppl are way more polite and less confrontational than the ones in Toronto. But I still moved to Toronto after growing up in Van. I think raising a child in Van would be easier because you don't really have to worry about school stabbings etc. But Toronto in your early 20s is incredibly fun.

    Nightclub are lame in Vancouver. I travel to japan and the club vibes are warp speed ahead of what we have here. Alas night life isn’t everything and having my own family those days I am happy to leave behind. I am struggling to find some wholesome indoor family fun especially during the post Christmas Jan and Feb. anyway the pleasure of Vancouver living always come back with spring.
