Metalhead Reacts To Country?! - Wait In The Truck by Hardy

  • Here's my reaction to Wait In The Truck by Hardy! Wait In The Truck is from Hardy's latest album the mockingbird & THE CROW. This track is featuring Lainey Wilson. I used to love country, but have stopped listening over the past ten years or so. Since then I've been a huge metalhead, and decided to revisit my roots and check out some modern country! Thanks for watching and let me know what you want to see me react to next!

    She didn't take it, she is still waiting in the truck. I believe that he didn't intend to shoot the guy, I believe that he intended to put the fear of God in him. When the guy went for the shotgun, he sealed his fate. But as a woman from the South, I can tell you that when a man says "wait in the truck," shit is about to get real.

      I'm from the south and there are admittedly few things I took from my Southern raising, but I can say this with certainty: when a southern man tells a woman to "wait in the truck," its the gentlemanly way to inform her that what he's about to do he would prefer her to not see. Say what you will about the south, but old-school values are generally more prevalent down here and to hit a woman in public is the most assured way to find yourself broken nose-first in the asphalt before you even realize what the hell happened. If it's someone directly connected to the person who hit you, then you'd be lucky to get off with just that.
      Friends ARE family, and you don't mess with a southerners family

    She didn't take his truck, he gave it to her. He gave her her freedom. In my mind he gets released early and they drive off together. As we don't know the backstory of these characters the way he reacts when he first sees her suggests to me he's seen this before. Maybe he grew up in an abusive household and knows there is no justice in the justice system so he decides he will be that justice. He stepped up where almost no one would or does. @reneebush2399 Před rokem +2

      @@dherald1532they have confirmed that it was written to mean a Judge Revolver, but they did end up using a different shotgun on the day for cinematic purposes. They needed to use something with a shorter cylinder that would still “pop” cinematically. The Judge with a shorter cylinder doesn’t work as well visually. When they wrote the lyric they wanted to irony of “Judge under a seat” vs. a Judge that sits on the seat (or bench) in court according to the writers. Them using a Smith and Wesson (I think?) in the video did leave some ambiguity though so I’m glad it was confirmed what the line was intended to mean.

    • @AustinCollinslive
      @AustinCollinslive  Před rokem +5

      Personally I feel the other way around. I think rock and metal typically have much deeper lyrics than country music does. That's just my opinion though. But this song is super deep which I love. It is definitely unfortunate how relatable it is for a lot of people. But I think that's what makes a good song a great song. When a song is relatable on a deep and emotional level, I think it makes a much bigger impact on the listeners. This song is wonderfully done.

    It's absolutely heartbreaking to scroll through the comments on the many reactions I've watched for this and see how many women, including myself, can relate to these lyrics and have prayed for someone like this guy to come rescue us! Because we all know the law doesn't do jack sh*t for us until it's too late! If you go into the song with the mindset that "everything happens for a reason", these lyrics make perfect sense. He was lost in a small town he'd never been to before during a thunderstorm and he comes across a woman in desperate need of a hero! I'm extremely biased whether he was right or wrong in his actions. However, if I had been his defense attorney I would have bent, twisted, manipulated and argued the justifiable homicide defense until it fit his "crime". Sometimes doing 'your' right thing (everyone's is different) and obeying the law are two completely different things!

    To add to the other comments... he was not a bad man, he was not an evil man... perhaps he grew up in a house of abuse.... as he knew what had happened to her without asking... he was a man who saw a need, saw an evil and acted on that need and evil. He was a man of faith (evidenced by the court scene bridge (Oh Lord have mercy on me was not asked to the court system... it was a plea to God) and visibly evidenced by the cross hanging on his rear view mirror... was his action legal, obviously not based on the trial, was it morally just.... that is up to each individual for you cannot legislate morality... but for every victim of DV, he would be an answered prayer... and for every man... the story forces the question... "what would I do?"
    I recently picked up on another aspect of the acting...you can see the transfer of 'weight' from the weight on her as a DV victim... to him, as the reality of what he did sank in looking at the body on the floor... she has her weight lifted as she no longer has to live that life... and the weight of the decision he made settles onto his shoulders, heart and mind.

    If you want another one from Hardy to make you think, check out 'Give Heaven some hell' & to see his rocker side, check out 'Sold out'. This guy began by writing radio ready songs for other artists, being a Mockingbird, then decided to say what he wanted to say & sing it himself & he became the Crow. Definitely check out his song ''The Mockingbird & the Crow'. The first half of the song is typical country fare, & then the last half he becomes the crow &the music changes completely & it's like 2 songs mashed together. It basically explains his career path in the song. This guy has a very creative mind & is a hell of a writer. He wrote Blake Shelton's huge hit 'God's country', which is great. Lainey Wilson has a big hit out now called 'Heart like a truck', (Ironically)

MAN up... and MAKE stop!!! And stop NOW!!! No matter what it takes! And for those weak, pathetic, punk-a$$ed excuses for 'men' that THINK that laying hands on a woman is EVER justified or in ANY way okay, know that there are still willing to make it stop and mete out the justice you so RICHLY deserve!!! I remember when they wouldn't play/air the The Thunder Rolls video because that's what it was about and thought it was a 'bad look'. Now, such songs are number one for numerous weeks. It's not a bad thing since it does need to be talked about/known, it's just a weird thing to think how accepting society and normal it is now, when it shouldn't be.

    The final scene confused me too. I'm not sure if that meant that she's waiting in his truck for him to get out of jail and it's a double meaning or what. That's the impression that I received is that she's waiting in his truck for him now.

I do the same thing no man deserves to beat a woman like that I'll will give my life I don't care if it means making a hard decision

    This song is based on a true story of a friend of Hardy’s who did 20 years and she waited for him to get out….. The guy grew up in an abusive home where I think the man eventually killed the mom. I have to assume he saw his mom standing in that road that night and saw the man in that trailer
    I get it

      Yes I think this song is about more than one person's history with abuse. When he saw her he wasn't just a white knight he was someone who was suddenly back as a little boy watching the important women in his life being abused. Back when he was unable to do anything about it. So you could say it was both their trama going untreated, unhelped by the world that led to this moment where he snapped.
