It's the end of an era - without realising it, we just counted on our calendar and it's been exactly one hundred days that we spent on the Wild Atlantic Way - the longest coastal drive in the world! We are sad to say goodbye to this magical route but feel so lucky to have had the experience.
This week it feels like the summer holidays, with beautiful weather and good times with friends on the beach. We soak up our final few days on the Wild Atlantic Way. What a journey this has been and we want to thank everyone who has made our time here special. We will never forget how we felt on this road trip and the people and the places along the way hold a very special place in our hearts.
If you're new around here - welcome and thank you for stopping by to our channel. We hope to bring you good positive vibes each week with our videos. We are Tom and Iz - a couple from Cornwall who decided to hit the road and embrace a new way of life, living and exploring in our tiny home on wheels, La Bamba. We invite you along with us on our recent escapades in our weekly vlogs. We love to embrace adventure and soak up nature every day! We're currently traveling around Ireland in our transit van along the Wild Atlantic Way. Ireland has really stolen our hearts; come along with us on this week's episode as we continue to explore the final stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way, from Skibbereen to Kinsale. It feels very emotional to be finishing this beautiful and special journey. If you've missed our travels so far - check out our previous episodes, we upload weekly on a Sunday at 5pm :)
Our first stop of the week is to Rineen Woods, before we take on the last stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way. Next stop is the pretty village of Glandore, with an unusual and striking church entrance that catches our eye. We head to Drombeg Stone Circle and spring is in the air! We explore the hut circles and then move on to Warren beach for a sea dip, a beach kindly recommended by one of our lovely subscribers! It's very cold but beautiful! Next on the agenda is Galley Head - you can't get right to the lighthouse because its a private road but we still get a good view of the wild and rugged headland! We then move on to our park up for the night at Red Strand, where we meet Johnny and Hannah who are just starting the Wild Atlantic Way - you can check out their CZcams Channel called "Finding Our Adventure" to see our time together from their perspective. Hannah cooks us up some Fajitas followed by pancakes!
We head to bed and use our new Surfshark VPN and tell you all about it. The next day we wake to a misty morning and head off for a walk from Long Strand where we find a forest and a ruined church, only to find our path turns to a river after all the rain we've had recently. We treat ourselves to a coffee in the fish basket and spend the rainy afternoon making sushi in Johnny and Hannah's camper. We move on to a campsite in Clonakilty but on our way we get pulled over by the Gards to let us know our taillight is out and turns out he watches our videos - he was really nice and gave us tips for the local area! We head on to see music at the famous De Barra pub and find ourselves with a visitor to our van - the ginger cat that lives on the farm we're staying at. He makes himself at home in our bed and we feel like the universe sent us this sign as we were just saying how much we'd like a van cat after spending time with Johnny and Hannah's full time van lifer cats Tia and Skye. We say goodbye to Johnny and Hannah the next day as they make their way on to the Dingle Peninsular (where we left a piece of our hearts :P) and wish them safe travels.
We then head on to a beautiful secluded cove where we meet up with our wonderful friends Steph and Jeff and their families for one final Hurrah before saying goodbye for now at least. It really did feel like a summer holiday those days with them, rock pooling on the beach, watching the sunset and drinking beer in their campervan. We were sad to say goodbye the next day as they really have welcomed us to Ireland and we are so glad we met them on the Dingle Peninsula! They are a lovely local family with a campervan too - you can find them on Instagram by the name "navigatingneena" - I really like their conversion - it has double bunk beds!
On our final day (100th day) on the Wild Atlantic Way, it's fitting that it's glorious weather, we eek it out with a picnic in Timoleague, visiting Garretstown the Old Head of Kinsale and Sandycove on our way to our final stop at Kinsale! We meet two of our lovely subscribers Paul and Mary who kindly treat us to a pint in The Spaniard.
Thank you so much to everyone for coming along with us on our journey. It's not over and we can't wait to share our next steps with you.
    Sending our love
    Iz and Tom xx

    Hello all!
So we had scheduled this episode to come out at 5pm but we realised at ten past 5 that it had accidentally been uploaded in really low quality so we had to export the file and reupload it as quick as we could - which took over an hour!! Thank you for your patience and sorry about that :(
Come along with us this episode as we finish the end of this chapter - we complete 100 days on the Wild Atlantic Way. It's not goodbye to Ireland yet - we will continue to travel along to Rosslare where we will catch a ferry and we are so excited to share our next adventures with you and hope you will join us for our future weekly videos! Ireland has really stolen our hearts and that's down to the amazing people and places we've come across on the way. We have a dream of one day coming back to buy a field here as it really is our favourite place we have travelled in our van yet. Here's a big shout out to our amazing subscribers - thank you to each and every one of you!!
    Thank you for watching!
    Sending our love
    Iz and Tom

It's a terrible pity though that in the 3 months our Visitors spent here that someone didn't take the time to have a little whisper in their ears on how to pronounce "IRELAND" or that old reliable " Sláinte"...Wishing them well on their Next Adventure...Slán!!

It's a tough living riding out a "pandemic" response all through a cold winter in a very deserted country. You both have done it brilliantly. Super videos, very natural, well edited. The fact you ended up right where I live, going to places I go every day, swim every day, enjoy every day makes it all the sweeter. I know there (must) have been some tough days and long nights but the spirit and fun and creativity you've brought to your adventure has been such a tonic for me and I'm sure I speak for many. Susan, I love the "small island" connotation. It just happens to be the third largest island in Europe after Britain and Iceland, and the twentieth largest island in the world. Larger than Austria or Switzerland or Scotland or Belgium or Denmark or the Netherlands and just slightly smaller than Portugal.

    • @LostInTransit
      @LostInTransit  Před 2 lety

I think Ireland can feel "small" because of the strong community. It feels like a big village where everyone knows everyone. It's unlike anywhere i have been, but its size is what gives it its vast wilderness.

You guys are Awesome. I've loved all of your videos about your travels around Ireland.
It's brought back so many great memories, and even some of the places I missed myself.
    Cheers from Canada.
