WINTER ON THE WILD ATLANTIC WAY
Vložit
- čas přidán 28. 07. 2024
- This week we travel around the wild and remote coast of Mayo.
Join us we continue our travels around the Wild Atlantic Way. We visit the Mullet Peninsula and go on a very windy hike along the cliffs of the Erris Head Loop. we visit some impressive landscape art and travel the very end of the peninsula to see the Black Sod Lighthouse. Turning back on ourselves we leave the peninsula and travel further south and onto Achill island. we visit the beautiful beaches of Keel and Keem. and even pluck up the courage to face the frigid December waters. We find an awesome tiny pub and an abandoned village.

My God, the two of you are daily living the quiet, guilty dreams dreamt by millions upon millions of desperate others. Be young, love, dance, and live. Thank you, for allowing us in. -C
This is such a nice message. Thank you so much. Hopefully some people will realise that they can run off and do it to.
Thank you so much for watching
My feelings too. I’m actually crying watching 🙄☺️
What a stunning place 😍
Definitely somewhere to put of our list of possible future adventures 😁
Great to see you guys back enjoying life to the fullest A great part of Ireland
This area what a real surprise for us, we had done very little research for here and didn't know what to expects, we were really blown away.
Great videos guys. Looking forward to more vanlife travels. You have done justice to the beauty & ruggedness of the Wild Atlantic Way.
Absolutely fantastic….. two gorgeous happy happy people……
Fantastic video, showcasing some of the lovely scenery that this Emerald Isle has to offer. And you do it in such a fun and happy way 👏🏽💕
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it
Great video guys, twenty odd minutes of lovely escapism thank you. Looking forward to seeing what you've been up to next week. Stay safe.
Thanks for watching along again
Thank you for showing us beautiful places, respectfully I appreciate your work....
Did it on my motorbike a few years back, stunning scenery and hospitality, love Ireland.
Everyone we have spoken to has been so nice. Random people in the street, pub staff, walkers, everyone!
And we were not prepared for the scenery!
That plodge in the sea looked wicked. So many amazing beaches to choose from too.
Visited Ireland back in 1990. Loved it. Had Family living in Athlone. The Hub of Ireland right in the centre.
Great video, there are so many great places to discover. I went to Mayo / Sligo / Ballina in 1977 when I was 17. Must go back.
It is so lovely here, can definitely recommend a return visit
🌊 wild unspoiled coastline 🌊💙 amazing guys 🙏
That young lady is so full of life and enthusiasm. If the guy has a lick of sense he will treasure her.
Hey there thanks haha I will make sure he treasures me don't worry :P. I do have a zest for life thats for sure! Thank you for watching :)
Great video, we're blessed with some astounding scenery along the west coast of Ireland. You're heading into Connemara soon. Do not miss Dog's Bay Beach near Roundstone and the Doo Lough Pass near Delphi. I'd also, at low tide, walk across to Omey Island near Claddaghduff in Connemara. Happy New Year to you both.
I live in Ireland (Dublin) and go to Achill every year, pure heaven. I was blown away with the scenery when I first came 36 years ago. Glad you enjoyed it. Subscribed.
Cheers Tommy. It is amazing isn't it. Will defo need to come back one day
Keem beach
Stunning. Thanks x
Well done people great stuff
Such a great video guys! Came up in my recommended and had to watch. I'm getting a 4WD ready to tourer Australia at the moment so always stoked seeing others enjoying the van/tour life
Wow that will be amazing, when I was younger I drove around the west coast from Darwin to Adelaide. Such a beautiful and wild place still. I hope you have the best time
Wow biggest respect for swimming in december ! Thanks for the video
Getting in was tough, but worth it in the end. Thanks for watching
Thank you both. That was a joyous vlog to watch .
Glad you enjoyed it Ian
Great video, thank you. So stunning, well done on swimming.
Thanks David, glad you enjoyed it
Yous are living the dream. I’d love to quit my toxic day job and go off to do something similar to what you’re doing.
Wow , so enjoyed watching , wish I was with you guys , stay safe, stay warm and keep on going on this dream adventure,
Thank you Shane, such a nice message ☺️
Thank you for the W3Ws in the description! Great video 💕👌🏻
No worries Linda, they were for you, glad you found them :)
Well done. Enjoy. You are finding so much more than you can find in a city. This is what we are fighting multinational company’s and governments for. Thank you for sharing.
We love the countryside so much. It is energising and unique. As you say the more the multinational companies move in the more cities become homogenous, and money focused. I hope these wild spots remain unchanged
Beautiful scenery-gorgeous part of Ireland.
Yes it is! Such a special place, I hope it never changes
Nature is the greatest artist ever wonderful
gorgeous place. Great video guys and big kudos for taking the dip!
Glad you enjoyed it, it is really beautiful there. The dip was painfully cold. We have done a lot since then, but this was by far the hardest
Brilliant vid guys. We love it down mayo and Galway.
It's absolutely stunning. Thanks for watching Geoff
What an awesome journey ye are on
Love your spirit of adventure!
One thing I'd like to see are the down days and the negatives as well. Keep it real!
We do try to film the down days and work ext. This week all of those days were on the days that were lost on the card so we just filmed the three days after. Luckily we haven't had any bad experiences since being in Ireland (touch wood) but we will include it when it inevitable happens
Lessons in living life to the full, aided by amazing Ireland - and some cold Atlantic Ocean water!
Thanks for watching, Ireland is a brilliant co-star!
Great filming, super scenery.
" That's a complicated gate"....
It's designed so that cattle can't work out how to open it 😀
Currently on the Wild Atlantic Way now!! We are loving how quiet it is..Great video guys just found you so will be binjing
Hope you had a lovely time in Ireland it's the most beautiful land in the world it's got every thing going like Guinness and more Guinness lol great you got to visit the cost and see the beauty of the Atlantic way. Stay safe and keep travelling. Great videos
Thanks Robert, we are in love with Ireland, it is so beautiful
Well that’s me all caught up on your travels x Lovely channel and I have really enjoyed watching your vlogs while in isolation x look forward to your next upload x
Aw, thanks so much for watching them all! Glad we could occupy you in isolation.
The scene at @13:30 is utterly beautiful, great composition. Safe travels.
19:30 is the best view
Hi Tom & Isobel, great to to you enjoying life and taking us along on your journey, something I wish I had had the chance to do when I was your age. Keep enjoying 😀
It's never too late! Glad you could join us on our journey though.
Great episode, loved the drone footage.
Thank you mark!
Brilliant 🤩 love it you’ve captured the island beautifully both north and south. I can’t believe that aul bag asked you to move your van, middle of winter. Keep up the good work and enjoy. I sea swim most days in ireland so had a good giggle at your keel beach dip. 🏊♀️🏊♀️🏊♀️
I think the hangovers have clouded our judgement slightly, she was actually really nice about it. We were just grumpy, we have had only one bad interaction the whole time in Ireland and it wasn't her. Yeah the water is certainly chilly, it does get easier the more you do it though
Izzy looks really refreshed by that dook in the beginning :D Damn I miss living by the sea!
We were both feeling very worse for wear and the cold water made us feel a million times better. are there no lochs near by you could head to?
With a low tide on Keel beach, you can traverse left hand side of the cliffs dry footed and enter some of the most amazing caves :) I miss Mayo, I lived in Westport for a year. Thanks for the video guys, Godspeed!
Wow, I didn't know about this, I would have loved to venture out to them, next time!!!
Brilliant video well done guys 👍
Thanks Aidan
Hi guys. Just discovered your channel. Great relaxing videos. Enjoying the WAW trip. Reminding us of our own trip in September this year.
Glad you found us & thanks for watching Fergus
Welcome to my amazing home. Loved the video.
Hey that’s great to hear you enjoyed watching thanks so much for the kind comment :)
Welcome to Ireland 🇮🇪 guys. I'm from Belfast. Just stumbled across your content. Absolutely brilliant. Loving it. I'm sure you have discovered that us Irish people are very friendly and welcoming. Hope you both enjoy your stay here on the emerald Isle ☘👍🏻❤
Very much so, we have been made to feel so welcome. We absolutely love it. Glad you're enjoying the videos
A nice fire, a nice pint and great ballad signing in Lynots, what's not to like. Been to Achill loads of times, starting when I was in school and we all used to leave our village after the pub closed drive two hours to get there
Hi Michael, yes we absolutely loveed Lynots, best pub ever! your trips to Achill sound like fun!
You two are brave soldiers for getting in that Atlantic water! Or mental. I'm not sure which!! You really should come back to Ireland in the Spring/Summer - If you think the scenery is stunning now, in December, can you imagine what it's like in good weather in May - August?
Keep up the good work.
Subscribed!
We would love to come back and see it again in summer. I think if it was sunny though it would take us twice as long to complete the WAW, every beach we drive past is so beautiful.
That thumbnail is breathtaking😀👍👍
What i great video, the scenery in Ireland looks fantastic
Ireland is amazing, such a beautiful place. Thanks for watching
Brilliant 🤩
Really enjoying your videos, glad I stumbled across them!
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed them
Preparing my next trip to the fantastic Ireland I am following your serie about you great tour at The Wild Atlantic way👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼.
By the way your trekking tour in Nepal I just love. 😊😊🥰from Inger, Denmark
I enjoyed the travel vlog. Thank you 😊
So glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching
Great video, spot on in every way. I appreciate it's a lot of work to put all this footage together, I know how much time it takes. I just got back from the hills of Glencar, and lucky enough to visit the loughs in Connemara. Doo Lough, NaFooey and the fjord that ends at Aasleagh Falls are rugged, but stunningly beautiful. Ireland has so much to offer, it's impossible to take it all in. The coastline is amazing, but inland places are equally so. Yes, weather can be bracing at time, but the changeable weather is what creates those dramatic skylines.
It does take a long time, especially as I don't really know what I'm doing to learning on the fly.
Ireland is stunning, I'm sure the inerds are just as nice. I think we will have to come back in the future and visit further from the coast
We went to a lovely spot on Achill, it was full of beautiful white stones, the noise of the sea crashing and dragging the rocks was amazing
Great stuff guys. I did part of that route a couple of months back. Fair dues for the icy dip. Bet it sobered you up fast😄. Mayo was the hardest hit county way back in time with the famine and emigration and that many parts never recovered as can be seen by the vast open spaces. Keem beach in Achill(pronounced Acill) is one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole country. Don't miss Dogs bay beach in Roundstone connemara(you may be past this by now). Keep up the good work.
It has been added to the want to go list. We still haven't passed it yet as we paused the trip while we headed over to Dublin last week. Thanks for the recommendation.
Tom and Iz you are so brave tojump in the ice cold water. I would stop breathing when I jump in that ice cold water
Welcome to Ireland 🇮🇪 guy’s Enjoy and stay safe 💯🙏
So far we are loving it, have been having the best time! Thanks for having us 😊
Stay safe? Do people actually still say that?
@@raftonpounder6696 I do 🤓
Very likable couple ...keep the adventures going please 😊 🇮🇪
Cheers Liam, as long as our savings/Isabel's job lasts we will keep on adventuring
@@LostInTransit wish you both all the best
Thoroughly enjoyable video. Marvelous ambassadors for our west coast..👏👏☘
We are sold. We love the west coast, and Ireland in general. Glad you enjoyed the video
@@LostInTransit 😊
Really hope the weather's being kind to you fab peeps..?
Enjoy Galway and Clare as you head SW..
Watched most of your Vlogs thus far and they're fantastically inspiring.👏👏☘
Hope you enjoyed your visit to our beautiful county.
Welcome to County Mayo.
We have been loving it! we didnt know what to expect from Mayo, but have loved every second of it
Just stumbled across this, will definitely have to check out some of yere other videos. In many ways this is the best time to do the wild atlantic way, less traffic, less people, the colors and nature look even better in autumn. Hope ye have had a fantastic stay here!
We were worried that it would be too wild in winter, but it was the best decision we made, it is so quiet, everyone we meet is a real local and the wildness just adds to the whole experience
Love this well done guys, shared it on our Vlog... hope you enjoy your journey round west ireland
Thanks so much guys, glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for sharing!!!
Love their English style.
sometimes I don't quite understand what they are saying.
I have something to learn here.
I like her cheerful outgoing manner.
I like his manner as well.
I am very curious.
They must be very nice people.
Great stuff
From a health perspective you're doing the best thing EVER .... Walks on the coast / beach are substantially good for your health..not to mention the cold water.. enjoy!
We certainly feel like we are reaping the rewards, I have lost weight & feel genrally happier
Brilliant 👌, you guys are great at what you do and your positive attitude is infectious. As an Irish person I want to apologise on our behalf for that grumpy killjoy after your night at the pub! I felt embarrassed by that bit 🙈
She really wasn't grumpy, I think that's our hangovers taking over. She was really polite and just asked us not to use the noisy heater right outside the neighbors window, she offered us a spot where we could use it (unfortunately I just couldn't find the keys to move the van), also Isabel likes to moan about the cold at even the slightest chance.
Thanks for watching Declan
What a cool couple :) a guitar channel I follow has suddenly started stealth camping videos and this came up in my recommended 👌
I've never been to Ireland. This does look amazing.
I can honestly recommend it so highly, we have loved our time here so much
19:30 Epic bit of filming..... The expression of freedom summed up in this sequence is superb !!
meh.... same sht different channel....the usual van/travel vlog with bikini girl clickbait in very cold weather. zzzzzzzzzz
Hi folk's, hope you both make it upto the Giants Causeway here in Northern Ireland. I hope the weather picks up for ya both. Your in a stunning part of the country at the minute. Big hugs and best wishes for a safe journey as you keep touring 👍❤️😁
Hello David,
We are going north to south, so we started off in Northern Ireland, check out our first video in the Ireland playlist!
@@LostInTransit aww, I just found you both on CZcams. Yes I'll check out your time in the north. Best wishes to you both and continued success with your CZcams channel.🤗
VERY NICE VIDEO!! I Love it!!! All the best for your channel! 🤗🏝🙏
Thank you!!
Finally got a chance to watch in its entirety! 22k so farrrrrr. Xx
love yer energy guys ,I've seen a fare share of that coast line myself a lot of the times via work .which was great but could be tough locations to hump equipment across .ye have given me mind to revisit .all the best on yer travels
Hiya Paul - I hope you get the chance to revisit these areas - they are beautiful! Thanks so much for the positive comment!!
Brilliant.
Hello again from Canada.
More spots in County Mayo Please, maybe in your next Video? Directly in front of you at Keel Beach on the mountain is Minaun Heights, A great spot, up top you can see all of Achill Island which would be perfect with your Drone.
I'm anticipating your next Video and hanging tight, More Memories Please.
Have a Awesome Day and Stay Safe. CHEERS
Unfortunately we had to leave Achill, partly due to the bad weather warnings but also because we had arranged to meet up with family on the other side of Ireland. I cant believe we missed Minaun heights though it looks amazing, next time for sure.
one for my list, for when my defender is ready. Also love the format, will subscribe for more content.
ooh yes that will be a fun trip in the defender! Thanks so much - great to have you follow along with us :)
I do the drive from Achill island to Bangor Eris and back every year to go fishing. Wonderful drive
I can see why you would, what an amazing place to go fishing
Hi to you both,l have only just seen you channel in the last few weeks. It is brilliant and you are both so funny,l want to say l have enjoyed all of you videos, and keep this enjoyable life you are doing.Tony Guyana South America 😂😂😂
Love your views of my country-so many happy memories of my misspent youth. We live on Gower-I recommend a trip; a continent in miniature.
Hey Gerard - thank youuu ! ooh hope we can get to Gower !
Love it
the water is always cold on the west coast!! great way to blow out the cobwebs and a hangover! great wee video :)
Thanks Ali. The cold water is amazing. Hard to get into but once you are it sorts you right out
We love watching your videos. We recently moved to Mayo from the UK. We love it here. Here is Tarky our whippet at the cold water swim place at Westport Quay. It's so lovely there. If your ever back in Mayo Ireland pop into say hi we've got plenty of room for La Bamba 😊
Cant seem to add his photo sorry x
Almost 200k! 🎉
Just found your channel watched the Northern Ireland video now onto this one and im hooked Subscribed on this the 2nd video I've seen. Fantastic channel just what CZcams needs. Really hope you're channel does really really well.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed 😊
Loving the playlist on your videos guys !

@@LostInTransit great Tom's think alike 👌
Love this series my family are from Mayo and the scenery is unreal hoping to get over myself this year!
Also have to visit Westport next time
heya! aw yeah westport is lush - we loved it at christmas time - so pretty with the lights. Hope you can get to Mayo soon!
Hi both, we came across your channel by chance.... Really enjoyed the vlog (that water must be freeeezing!!!! 🥶)... As newbies, we look forward to catching up on all your other vlogs ... Have subscribed so we won't miss any new... Merry Christmas 🎅☃️🤶
Bore da,
The water was particularly cold that week. This week we never seem to be out of it, haha (but you won't see that for a week or so yet). Glad you found us. Merry Christmas to you to!
i love your videos
Hats off to you getting into Keel, trust me keem would have been a bit nipper - mountain waters coming down and all that. Thank you for showcasing our stunning county (up Mayo)/country. I'm assuming you're heading south, if so and you take the road from Louisburgh to Leenaun you won't be disappointed - passing by Mweelrea (Meal-ree) Connaught's highest peek and the Aasleagh (Ash-Lee) falls. Wherever you head, enjoy yourselves and welcome to the West.
Amazing, thanks for all the tips. I will add them to the destination list! Very exciting
I hope you visited the waterfalls in Glencar when you were passing. Some of the nicest waterfalls in Ireland.
Unfortunately we missed them, but at least that means we have more of a reason to visit again!
Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 to you both and a happy healthy new year to you both.
Thanks Nik, merry Christmas and happy new year to you to. We hope you had a good one ⛄
@@LostInTransit Excellent Christmas 🎄 so far. Stay safe and healthy. Hopefully Ireland will be interesting
Great channel.. love watching your journey.. ATB R&D :):)
Thanks, glad you're enjoying it
Severe pain 🤣. Annoying about the SD card. But nice that you both stayed so positive. The gopro's durability would have been seriously tested if it happened to us. I think Louis would have launched it at the floor and had a sulk for atleast a day or two 🤣. Nice vlog again👍🇵🇱🍄
Watching this back im actually a little surprised how calm we were as well. Luckily most of the interesting stuff happened after
Hopefully they'll be more van friendly in the future.
Big vans these days though; not like the old Mitsy L300's or Kombis.
Great post and need I say beautiful
countryside/coast .
We feel a bit bad about how they came across in the vlog, they were actually lovely. As you say we have a big old van and the carpark was full when we arrived so ended up parking over her doorstep with our diesel heater blasting out beside their bedroom window, they only asked us to move, but I suggested turning off the heater as I couldnt find the keys
Thank you for the lovely video
Had to subscribe
Thank you ♥️
I’m based in Mayo and so pleased to see you made it to Achill Island, Keem beach is beautiful and the cliff roads are something else
We had really done very little research and so didn't know what to expect, we were completely blown away
@@LostInTransit 🤫 but don’t tell everyone or else they all might want to come 😂 I love going off on little adventures around Mayo and often I feel I have the roads all to myself here. This was the first of your videos I’ve watched and look forward to watching the rest of your Wild Atlantic Way adventures
Great videos you're making me want to travel more here. I make travel vlogs and didn't even consider these beautiful parts of Ireland. Thanks guys 👍
Oh wow, I see you have done a lot in Romania, I would love to take the van there, I will have a watch.
You should go round Ireland, it has really blown us away!
Just been watching your latest video, love how informative you are, now subscribed
@@LostInTransit I think Romania would really suit you guys. Especially Transylvania! Beautiful scenery and lots of gorgeous little towns to stop in for a pint or two 😉. If you ever decide to go fell free to ask for any tips. Having a nice little binge on your vlogs now. Literally only found your channel an hour ago. Will share with more Irish friends they'll love this. Looking forward to seeing your channel grow and grow. You're both great 👍
