important thing you need to remove the battery connection first before removing other parts that connected to the board, to avoid shorted.
You forgot to mention the MOST IMPORTANT part of the install. BEFORE REMOVING the digitizer and the LCD ribbons you MUST DISCONNECT THE BATTERY ribbon cable. If you unplug the LCD first it will cause you to blow your backlight fuse for the LCD.
it's a risk but not a certainty. I just did it without disconnecting the battery.
@@hey-zel There's a tiny fuse on the main PCB on the iPad that will have to be sent in to be replaced. It's a super small surface mount fuse. At this point it's cheaper to buy a new iPad.

I think this guy is on the right track but there are always better and safer methods for accomplishing the task of disassembly and repair. I am a technician in an ongoing training process to keep up with new devices and used this video as a guide. I found that the metal plate opens out to the left like a book page if you gently slide it to the left of the case and lift it up to the left from the lower right corner.
I am still using this iPad mini in 2020. Idk when my dad will buy me new iPad mini 5

I've sent my iPad Mini back to BestBuy 3 times now because of dust being under the glass just from normal, everyday use. My current one is ok as of now, hopefully it stays that way.

Word for the wise to anyone doing this, after you start remove the digitizer, if the break is bad and it starts splintering, you will need to be VERY careful how much heat is applied to the bare LCD, as it can cause a cloudy-like appearance and is annoying.

you likely overflexed the LCD cable or otherwise damaged the LCD... If plugging in to a charger does not give you any display, you likely have damaged the LCD or didn't hook the battery back properly if you unplugged it.
Replaced digitizer and LCD.. For some reason I can not get the digitizer to recognize touch. The home button works though

There's absoluetly no way to access the battery without pulling the display (not just the digitizer
you should really research before you open your mouth, because the utter ignorance that flowed from it is astounding.

I'm assuming (perhaps wrongly) that your comment was directed to my post. Since I was basing my post on a unit I was dismantling at the time to replace the digitizer. it was Q. E. D.- the display under the digitizer has to be removed to access the digitizer connection, concurrently exposing the battery and its connection to the motherboard.

I went to get my screen fixed today and they left a little bit of a piece of paper out...AND they put a screen protector on a got a giant crumb on it. So don’t go to the CPR place it’s so dumb
so cutting the LCD tape does not do any harm? where you used the knife...
No, it's just tape to cover up circuitry and add a little extra stability, completely unnecessary.

This is actually a very good video, the LCD was a little trickier for me to get out because this video looks like they had it out already, there was too much flex for my tastes in the lcd getting it out, the tape at the bottom was annoying too. I did forget to put that little magnet near the power button back in.

My daughter broke the charger w/. a piece inside the ipad female charging port. ugh..
I can't get it or grab it as it's only a pice of the male charging cable...
