    one anomaly I note when using the buses in London is that ENCT passes while valid are not programmed into the oyster pads, luckily all the drivers I have had realise my out of area pass is valid as London is still in England.

    Andre is the best bus driver lets be honest

  • @thenorthumbrianbusdriver3320

    Very good content Andre. I wish that we had contactless only payments in Northumberland. The machines up here are a bit slow when people use cards but I'd rather that than handle cash. Hope you are well and hope you are staying safe.

    My wife and I are planning to visit London next month, for the first time in over 20 years.
    I am just a little bit puzzled regarding price capping on public transport.
    The price caps are showing as £4.95 (bus) and £7.70 (underground, zones 1 and 2) .. If I took 3 or 4 journeys on the underground and 3 or 4 bus journeys in a single day would I end up paying £4.95 + £7.70 for the day ?
    If that's the case, it would seen sensible to perhaps have one day only using the underground and the next for example only the bus, so paying £7.70 for one day and £4.95 the next.
    Are these caps the exact same with a normal contactless UK bank card ?
    Regards from Whitley Bay

    Used my samsung pay yesterday, set it up with fingerprint sensor beforehand. Red beeped twice. Eventually had to use my Apple watch offline and it worked first time. Samsung app history still shows payment taken! (Might charge back). Potentially paid twice! Annoying!

    When I buy a 24h London Travel Card, do I just have to show it to the driver on the bus, or does it have a chip and can I tap the card same as oyster card? Sorry I never use it for buses. Thank you for your response :)

    • @DeckerLondon
      @DeckerLondon  Před 2 lety +4

      Heya Lenka
      Thanks for reaching out, that's a good question. In regards to London Bus day pass, you can either purchase this day pass on a London blue Oyster Card or you have the option to pay contactless debit or credit card.
      When using the London buses you must tap onto the bus, you'll will find the yellow card reader by the driver cab door. Tap your card and enjoy the bus ride. There is no need to tap out when leaving the bus service here in London, if you do, you will be charged twice. So tap once, the beep will sound once with a green light, if not and you hear a beep x2, it's means to try again or use another card.
      I hope this little information helps. 😇

    I have a zipcard (16+) but can't add it onto my Google pay! 😕 Do you know why that is? And besides contactless is there another way I can tap in with my zipcard on my phone?

    • @DeckerLondon
      @DeckerLondon  Před 2 lety

      Heya Gavin, unfortunately all oyster cards to 16+ and adults can't be used as Google pay. That would be a incentive way to pay your fare as a option. I could only advise you to contact TFL and make that as a suggestion as this a good idea 💡😇

    This is a stupid question but ove never travelled in london before. If paying with debit card to go somewhere do we tell the driver where we need to go and get charged for that proce or do u just tap and the proce is the same everywhere. Also when paying with single or return do u get a paper receipt. And isn't there caps for using contactless devito cards aswell where u dont get charged after a certain amount. That's alot😅

    • @DeckerLondon
      @DeckerLondon  Před 3 lety

      Great question dude 😇
      If you're travelling and using the Buses and trams here in London the single fare is priced at £1.55 and there is a daily capped on the Oyster cards and debit and credit card 💳
      You can check before you travel and check prices by visiting the Transport For London website: www.tfl.gov.uk

    Just wondering if I used the tube and maxed out at £7.40 (day cap), I then used a bus £1.55 would I be capped at £7.40 or would it charge me £8.95 ?
