Headphones, a doobie and a nice chair to just lean back and space out to. This song is a stoner’s paradise
Manfred Mann was a great British rock band from the 60's. They had some great songs including "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" "Pretty Flamingo", "Mighty Quinn", "5-4-3-2-1" & "Sha La La". Manfred Mann's Earth Band is an English rock band formed by South African musician Manfred Mann later in 1971. Their hits include covers of Bruce Springsteen's "For You", "Spirit In The Night" & "Blinded By The Light" which was a big hit for them in 1976.
Interesting Note: Manfred Mann changed part of the lyrics in the the chorus, where Springsteen's "cut loose like a deuce" is replaced with "revved up like a deuce. The lyric is a reference to the 1932 V8-powered Ford automobile, which enthusiasts dubbed the "deuce coupe".
"momma told not to look into the eyes of the sun, but momma, that's where the fun is"...best song on a snowy night in NY.
This played on the radio through the long hot summer of 1976, always takes me back to then.
I saw them in Philly before this song was written. They were awesome! Listen to " The Mighty Quinn"
The name "deuce coupe" is shorthand slang for the 1932 Ford Model 18 with the side-valve flathead V-8 engine. Deuce is for the 2 (in 1932).
Wow!!! Someone else knew it was about carz... Most people think its about rolling dice.
Cool 😎 my youngest son favourite song he’s 17 & fortunately for him he’s grown up with all our old school music….Blinded by the Light….. thanks 🙏 guys
I LOVE THIS SONG. and yes, you will want to hear it over and over again.
This was the very firsr 45 rpm single I ever bought! I rode my bike 1o miles to the record store with my $1.04 to pay for it! 😊
Classic GREAT song! -->You'll still be hearing it later today. 😁😉
Love this band. They have so many cool songs that spread a good mood. Her two best known (cool songs) are: "Mighty Quinn" (written by Bob Dylan) and her anthem "Davy's on the Road Again". Also their song "Lies (Through The 80s)", my favorite (from the album CHANCE), is awesome and I can highly recommend it to you. My favorite albums are WATCH (charted for 69 weeks in Germany in 1978-1979) and CHANCE (charted for 41 weeks in Germany in 1980-1981). We still enjoy listening to their music on long car rides. The band is also still on concert-tour.
Vastly underrated band with some phenomenal albums to their name...
Written by Bruce Springsteen, guys. Manfred Mann has a huge hit with this in Europe. Singer Chris Thompson has a very unique voice. You can immediately recognize his voice among many others.
A quintessential 70’s song. Iconic. 👍
Memories of keg parties up at the lake where the music was blasted out across the water and with songs like this the neighbors never seemed to mind.... Well actually most of them were in attendance anyways.
You guys would really love their version of, "Quin the Eskimo" !!!! 😃
Is that The mighty Quinn?
The bass guitar is devastating.
As others have said, Bruce Springsteen wrote and recorded this song in 1973. Manfred Mann's Earth Band's cover was a No. 1 hit in the U.S. in 1977 (and the better version. :-) ). ... In 1964, Manfred Mann had his first No. 1 hit in the U.S. with "Doo Wah Diddy." It's a fun song, too, from simpler times, and you may have even heard the chorus before.
This is one cover that I like way better than the original, and that's not a slam on Bruce whatsoever - the break in this song is amazing.
Same here. I love Manfred Man's version.
I agree! MM took it to a completely different place.
Hey, dudes! Glad you caught this one and enjoyed it as much as I always have!
Jumped on this is 3 seconds lol - next up by the same band is Spirits in the Night, also written by Springsteen.
That's a great song too. I agree.
Excellent suggestion.... Haven't heard that in ages... Gonna go listen to it now.
Love Manfred Mann & Manfred Mann's Earthband. They have been going since the 60's before changing their name in the 70's. Love this track. Amazing albums. Checkout the album "The Good Earth" It will blow your minds !
Bruce wrote this song when he was 23 years old. The first track release off of his very firs album: "Greetings From Asbury Park" ! Jersey Girl here ! I love your channel guys ! xoxoxo !!!!
MANFRED MANN'S EARTH BAND, "BLINDED BY THE LIGHT".. UNDERRATED, YET NEVER UNAPPRECIATED BRITISH BAND. I SAW THEM OPENING UP FOR URIAH HEEP IN 1973... VERY GROOVY.. more... "SPIRITS IN THE NIGHT"
This version is so different to the.record we played on the jukebox, I love the instrumental centrepiece, and…the vocals, in parts reminded me of Joe Lynn Turner!
I heard this version before the original by Bruce Springsteen! I guys it is very well known that some of the lyrics were misinterpreted! I always heard ‘Wrapped up like a Douche’!😂😂 I can still hear it even though I know the correct words now!😂 The musical arrangement is the greatness of the song!! ❤❤
Glad you guys enjoyed it!!❤❤
That song was written by Bruce Springsteen by the way great guitar solo
Live it's a guitar too.
@@DawnSuttonfabfour I stand corrected and will alter my comment
@@neilfraser6646 Cheers neil. Peace
Hey Guys, Great band, one of the best Springsteen covers ever, they also covered another Springsteen classic "Spirits in the night" which I highly recommend you check out, would also recommend "Davy's on the road again" Cheers
They also did his song, "I Came For You".
@@tinalinge2782 Tks for the tip Tina 🙂
This one sticks with you. You'll be singing it all day!! Great song!! ✌❤
It really does...!
Revved up like a deuce another roller in the night. This song is about street racing.
MEATLOAF DIED 🥺❤ RIP To a great artist
A rare instance when the remake blows away the original version (Springsteen) with such a unique new arrangement. Great reaction. 👍
My goodness, another song that I've haven't heard for years! I remember especially the Manfred Mann band who started in 1962 and lasted to 1969. Gosh, I loved a lot of their songs such as 5-4-3-2-1, The Mighty Quinn, Do Wah Diddy Diddy, and Pretty Flamingo! This is Manfred Mann's Earth Band though which was formed in 1971 and this is a great song. Really good transitions and such a fab tune, loved it! Hope you'll do some reactions to the songs I've mentioned by Manfred Mann - they were so popular in the 1960s and I think you would really enjoy them. Loved your reactions to this song, guys, so interesting and enjoyable as they always are! Cheers!
Springsteen wrote it. MMann owned it.
Watch the Midnight Special of them live, its on YT. Can they bring it? Oh yeah, and then some.
I'm so happy you both enjoyed it so much! This song was very popular on the radio but it was one that you just never really got tired of hearing. I think most of us had the words wrong while we sang, but we still had a great time jamming to it! You have to remember that we didn't have google or even cell phones back then. If they didn't put the lyrics on the inside of the album cover, we were just SOL (Sh!t out of luck).
I love the guitar tone. Nice reaction!
Never saw the actual lyrics for this song. Still don't understand them, but that doesn't lessen my love for this song one bit. :)
You guys have to try the live version from TV Show " Midnight Special"
Vastly underrated band with some phenomenal albums to their name...
Give "Road to Babylon" a play👍
Great song! From my childhood.😘👍😁
This is an amazing song! Bruce Springsteen's album Greetings from Asbury Park is so great! Thanks.
Great reaction to this classic song. They have more diverse songs to react to as has been suggested by others but definitely do "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" and the "Mighty Quinn".
every reaction video is on this song , meanwhile the band's penultimate album "somewhere in afriica"is patently ignored , listen to "redemption song" to hear a genius arrangement !
Love this song! A masterpiece. And really love your reaction and analysis. Bang on!
Wow, I know every word from being a pre-tween, hearing it 1st time OVER & OVER LOL (we always thought it was " wrapped up like a douche" hee) but now I'm hearing it very Floyd-esque & poetic: was this a crazy fever he was having? Or a drug trip? Whatever it was, I feel great hearing this again
thru/with you guys, I SO appreciate it, what a great song! New experience for me, thank you! ♥️✌
The album The Roaring Silence by MMEB is a bloody masterpiece but SO underrated.
Suggestion, this is another good one by Disturbed, The official video for “Hold On To Memories” was released two years ago today.
“Hold on to Memories" is about not only honoring those we’ve lost, but also making the most of our time with those we still have.
Written by "The Boss" Bruce Springsteen. So popular when it came out in the late 70s?
Another Bruce song you must do is, Because the night, by Patti Smith, the godmother of punk
Springsteens version is good, but Manfred Manna version is stellar!
All of Manfred Mann's well known songs are Bruce Covers, but they did them best!!!! Spirits in the night is one of the best covers ever
Mann's 'Angel Station' - so many good songs
Great reaction, as always, brothers🤘🏾
This is one of those instances where the cover surpasses the original by Bruce Springsteen. I mean…by far, imho. And I love Bruce.
This one of those songs…that if you’re not using headphones or ear buds…you’re just wasting your time in life. I put on my AirPods and get taken on a trip for 7+ mins. 😁
Mahalo for reacting to songs of my youth. Much Aloha, Brothers🎼🎶🎵🤙🏾
Song written by Bruce Springsteen.
Thanks for letting us know.
Odd poetry and yet beautiful ❤
and again, going back to music I grew up with, Thank You
Great song.
Great!!! Have to DANCE - just blew my sister's neighbor's out leaving Sunday 1030 - Great MUSIC - stand up stand up
Huge hit song°
Nohle shine is in this band he also dose a back up singer in drivers seat another great song check out the song and video the guy put on one hell of a show. Please try Danish orchestra they're all number one chairs they do all the Clint Eastwood movies you'll be amazed at what people can do with an astronaut
wow! what a masterpiece. after hearing this constantly in the 70s, I've not heard the full version and the lyrics I squinted at, until now.
You guys really appreciate the good stuff love to watch you love you
Bros, will you be doing a tribute for the late Meatloaf? He passed away last Thursday aged 74.
Heaven can wait
Bat out of hell
All revved up with no place to go.
Much appreciated x
I equate this to baker street by Gerry Rafferty. Not in anyone’s top bands but this song made us stop turning the dial to jam to. Well done!
Hey man you guys are brothers!
The song is about cars and girls and being teens in the 1960's in New Jersey ...
Try their song “Old Time Rock And Roll”. Classic which I am sure u both will luv
Hope u r both well
Fr across the waters
Canada 🇨🇦
Hugs to everyone
good 🎵 🎶 🎵 🎶
The Mighty Quinn is another great song by them
💯🤯 Super great song & band‼🔥❤
You should listen to their song "Singing the Dolphin through". Truly prog rock masters. Plus this song has the most incredible saxophone solo ever.
This song enters your soul.
Saw this band live in the seventies at a small pub venue they were very good much better than on record.
Love this song! Still have no clue what they’re talking about!!
I grew up with the "wrapped up a like douche'" mishearing of the lyrics and have never been able to shake it since.
Good reaction
As Bruce Springsteen says he got a rhyming dictionary and wrote the song
Love the break in the song. It's see ya later time.
On other side of single is STARBIRD.........Suuuuuperb
First 45 i bought great prog rock 70s band
Pop in the 60s
There are not many Bruce Springsteen covers which are better than the originals but this one is one of them, just fire 🔥🎸
Give a listen to Manfred Mann's cover of another Springsteen song, "I Came For You".
Good pick guys - so much better than the Springsteen version.
💯💯💯
HEAD EAST ~ "NEVER BEEN ANY REASON".....!!!!
You should react to "Father of day, father of night".
Very proggy.
By the way lads you need to listen to some early genesis with peter gabriel and steve hackett try the musical box off nursery cryme 1971
Saw your reaction to "Blinded by the Light" by Manfred Mann.
You should check out the original by Bruce Springsteen
A lot of comedy skits about the indecipherable lyrics and everyone having their own interpretation. Great tune, though. Another example of the cover being better than the original, at least IMO. Cheers!
Oops I said the quiet part out loud in my comment. Deuce or .....
I love Bruce but his version is hideous.
In honor of meatloaf passing, maybe you would want to check out his song Paradise by the dashboard light or for crying out loud. They are masterpieces.
The song was written by Bruce Springsteen
Dang...i liked it alot better not knowing what those words were. But you 2 rock
This guy is wearing a Queen shirt and you expect me to believe he has never heard blinded by the light?

It cracks me up that whoever did this lyric video didn't even look up how to spell "deuce". Sheesh, children!
All these years and I didn't know Springsteen wrote this! Thanks ppl in the comment section 🎵🎵
Welcome to Prog rock!
I was nine years old when this song came out and they played it twice an hour on the radio. Needless to say I learned to hate this song. LOL.
This IS a cover of "The Boss" and it's a good thing he gave this to MM because his version sucks.
This is by far the best cover ever.
The one that comes closest is Dylan's "Knocking on Heavens Door" by G&R.
Even with a fairly deep group of songs they're still a OHW with this.
Happy belated 4/20😎
Please try out The Good Earth by MMEB. It's a classic
