Just for clarification, 75% of C's in CpG dinucleotides are 5mC's (methylated) which in my opinion is not the same as to say that human DNA is 75% methylated. About 1.5% of all C's are 5mC's in the human genome in somatic cells. Worth to note is also that 90% of CpG islands are unmethylated.
By "90% of CpG islands are unmethylated." are you saying that out of 9 CpG islands, only 1 will be methylated (show some methylated C's), or are you saying that if you pick a random CpG island, 90% of that won't be methylated?
I have a stupid question but where does the body get all these raw materials such the ribose sugars and bases from? All the materials to form proteins for the hundreds of enzymes and other functional proteins that are happening all day long? How much of a meal provides the body with all of these raw materials? Suppose I ate Doritos every day as my only meal for a month would the body’s processes come to a standstill since I’m not providing protein and nutrients?
ribose sugar is made from carbohydrates so consuming any source will maintain it, bases are from nitrogen containing food sources like proteins. This is why you need to ensure that you are getting your daily recommended amount of nutrients. You will get a lot of issues if you only eat doritos for a month
After watching so many videos on this topic now I finally understand the concept...
exactly
More than helpful thank you !
ok but this is SOLIDD for MCAT too, thank you soooo much.

Google and tell me what you find! It's probably more like that 90% of the C 's in CpG's in the CpG islands are unmethylated.
Great video,- thank you! Could you make a video about the role of the p38 mapk pathway and CpG DNA methylation in immune cells? (TLR9)
great video
Thank u
👌👌👌
Great!!
