The king of carwow drag races, the Porsche 911 Turbo S, is BACK! And it's got some new competition to take on... An Audi RS3 saloon?!

Having the engine at the back of the car is the best set up for acceleration. A front or mid engine car can't compete with this set up.

The 918 is very limited. Only 918 of them were produced, so think it is very difficult to get your hands on this car.

That audi tune is impressive. I reckon if he had a way better start he would've beaten the porsche. Still amazing how that porsche does 10.1 secs every time though
I used to have an S3 with ecu and dsg tune...nothing extreme, just a stage 1 tune! The reason that tuned RS3 can’t get a good launch is most likely due to the dsg’s “Torque Management” system that’s built into its programming. It’s essentially just a software controlled fail safe that prevents too much torque going through the clutches based on gear, load, etc. Apparently, this cannot be overridden even via a dsg software tune from what I was told.

makeithappen bourriht - yeah, I know!! Just saying that a tune in the RS3 will still be slightly restricted by the dsg programming! Basically, the dsg doesn’t allow full torque through the drive train in the the first 2 gears. Not a lot of people realise this though. It’s why the RS3 beats it in the gear acceleration runs, cause after 2nd fear, full engine torque is allowed !! Don’t get me wrong...not taking anything away from the Porsche...was just posting so everyone can get a better idea why the launch in it wasn’t that great, when in theory, everyone would expect it to be a lot better :)

Mat has made me believe that the Porsche TurboS is quicker than a Bugatti Chiron..The Porsche is a proper daily driver - nothing is going to beat it off the line and you’ll always be the king of the road

Been an Audi guy since my first car years ago. Love the rs lineup, would love to have an RS one day. But Porsche has always been the unicorn, the pinnacle, the dream for me

Stock tires, regular gas, everything else stock besides maybe a new exhaust? Its already insanely quick, you know when ppl start tuning them they will destroy just about everything.
The tuned 992 Turbo S will be a sub 2 seconds car at 0-60 mph! With just a little more power it gets near 2 seconds flat, because the stock version needs only 2.5 seconds...

For the brake test the brakes themselves aren’t what win the test, it’s the TIRES. You need good contact patch and good coefficient of friction for that. Better brakes will allow you to do it more than once but the TIRES are what determine stopping distance

He does it well but you can wonder is it really difficult if you have launch control, 4wd, automatic gearbox, and lot of expierence? Lol.

because it looks classy and not obnoxiously aggressive, so you dont expect it to be loud in the first place
Besides. Smooth, relatively quiet fast cars are more appealing than loud and fast cars. It gives the car a more sophisticated feel. Which is why I love the 720s. Just gets the job done without screaming or flexing.

The launch of that Porsche is insane which is what making it beat every car ,even a 720s in a standing quarter mile.
The Turbo S is insane. The crazy thing is that the Porsche could do that launch all day long and still work, the Audi would likely flag up some warning light after a while.

That M5 doesn't launch as well as the M8 as they did the M8 vs M5 already. If they tuned the M8 to 800 horses it would be a race with the Porsche.
That tuned M5 did a quater mile of 10.2 sec. multiple times. It still would lose

That Turbo S is something special. That’s probably the most obvious thing I’ve ever said but damn, it’s been the king for so long. Last time I can remember seeing this kind of sheer car domination was when the new generation Nissan GTR’s came onto the scene way back in 2007.

Many folks will jump in and said the 720s this or the Ferrari that and so on. They fail to realise that many CZcamsrs post races at prepped tracks with softer aftermarket tires.
In the real world, under real - regular street surfaces, those 911 turbo s are hard to beat.
And, they can do it over and over and over.

Seriously, Turbo S are the best all around for the money & performance...but wished they would infused more sports into it vs luxury.
When you do the rolling races with the Turbo S, you have to put it in Sport mode, not Sport Plus mode because Sport Plus is for drag races/handling because the wing come up, creating downforce. In Sport mode, the car is more suitable for top speed.
Next drag race must be between the porsche 911 turbo s and mclaren 765lt
The only problem of the Audi is that it isn’t Porsche 😀

you can't really modify a turbo s, they're pretty much tuned to their maximum potential. Additional tuning makes the car worse in most cases.

@@jaydanielpapa1585 yeah but with the tune, the Launch Control isn't calibrated the way it should be, therefore you get worse 1/4 mile times with more power.
Of course you can decrease the times, but you have to put some serious time into changing the software
@@ilovebeerpong6026 uhm no not really. M_engineering does the whole nine yards, they calibrate the launch control. They are also able to tune the Factory ECU to do rolling anti-lag. So they are not just making more power it is tuned for actual use and faster times/acceleration.

@@homerun217 probably needed some training on launching the car too. Wasn’t any where near as aggressive as it could be. I’ve seen RS3’s do sub 10’s with 700ish HP on the street so no reason he can’t do it here
