Your first 5 minutes were about me! I dream books, ever since I was a child. I have a backlog of ideas waiting. I’m re-editing one I am sure will be ready this year. I’ve self published a few children’s books and 3 adult, so far. I’m looking to go the traditional route now, with this current one. You’re advice is very good. Thank you for sharing. Especially the “put it away” advice.
I’m always happy to connect with fellow storytellers and motivate them to keep going ☺️ I’m actually editing my novel right now and would love to be able to traditionally publish it as well, so it looks like we’re in the same boat! ☺️
The “put it away” method has done wonders for my story. I hope it helps you too. Best of luck with your novel and all of your future projects ☺️
@@VirtualBooklore Thank you for your encouraging words! I had the "put away' imposed on me during the pandemic. Coming back to it did result in a cull of words, in epic proportions! It also highlighted where I was bored, re-reading it! I'm now trying a different angle for the opening and other chapters. The traditional route does seem very complicated. My naivety in all processes was a bit of a shock, but I am learning and trying to stay focussed, not overwhelmed. With a bit of luck, I shall be reading your work before mine, as you seem much more advanced in your knowledge. All the best! 😀
Your channel just pop-up in my feed and directly subscribed because your informative videos will help me a lot to write my first debut young adult story as I am a children writer and I published eight books for children.
Welcome, so happy to hear that you've found my videos helpful ☺️ I'd love to check out the books you've written. If you're comfortable sharing, feel free to drop the titles in the comments 📚
Love Your Content ❤
Thanks for watching! ☺️
It’s not the writing process that’s the problem for me. It’s the “what now” after it’s written.
I see ☺️ Well, you have a few different options. You can let the book sit for some time before getting back to it and self-editing. You can send it to a few alpha readers to get their thoughts and feedback. You can work with a professional editor or writing coach. Or you can work on a different project if you don’t feel ready to jump into the editing process ☺️
Very interesting video with lots of good information. If you are looking for further topics you could do one(s) on Beta Readers, Critique Groups, and Sensitivity Readers.
Thank you for tuning in and for sharing some video ideas! ☺️ I will most likely be looking for some beta readers/sensitivity readers as soon as I finish my own novel and I’ll definitely film a video all about my experience.
What is develmental editor ? Do you own a website ?
I have a video all about developmental editing on my channel ☺️🎥
LOL, "age doesn't mean a thing" and all your examples are 30-somethings. Wow, way to encourage us old geezers that are twice that age!
Otherwise. excellent tips! Thank you.
I mention Andrzej Sapkowski who started writing later in life and is 75 now and still writing, so there truly is no age limit when it comes to starting a writing career ☺️
LOL, yeah, but I'm 75 and starting on my first novel! @@VirtualBooklore
@@oldguyinstantonthat’s so exciting! 🎉 Hope it’s going well. And if you’re running into any writing-related roadblocks or have questions, let me know. I’m always looking for new video topics to discuss on this channel 📖
Actually, from looking at the files in the directory, I started it back in early 2015, so I started in my sixties. (I know this cause I keep version-sequential copies of the book; I think I'm at save version 2000 or something, now, counting two counting resets.) It's changed... a lot. Currently at around 148,000 words. I'm learning as I go.
@@oldguyinstanton that’s amazing! Keep going, and I hope we all get to read you work soon! ☺️🎉
Thank you so much that was very helpful 🤍🤍.
I’m so glad! I’m gathering video ideas for the next few months so if you have any other writing/editing questions, let me know ☺️📖
