@@infographicsafrica No it’s not that informative. Information in it is quite superficial. You could scrape any basic history book written in the past 40 - 60 years and the outcome therein won’t be any different from what you in this content. Look throughout history and you will find empires where remnants of descendants might not presently occupy that ancient territory. Ghana is no different. The name “Ghana” wasn’t just conferred on present day country. The founding fathers of present day Ghana had to make their case on the cusp of independence from British rule with solid, airtight history. See, unbeknownst to you, the migratory patterns after the collapse of the Ghana empire confirm most descendants went down south. And for obvious reasons: in search of lush forests and vegetation to farm, water and a much moderate climate with the expanding sahara desert. The Akans and some ethnic groups in northern Ghana are direct descendants of the old Ghana empire. As are some Ivorians and Burkina be’s. “Mansa,” is a very common name in Ghana. One of the primary dangers in this era, riddled with some much technology is the ease with which one can misinform and get away with it.

      Get the history right
      1. This story cant be true.. the Ghana kingdom was never called "Ghana", It was called "Wagaduo" their King was called 'Gha- Naa', meaning king of warfare. I don't see any Ashanti or Akan word that sounds similar to that. Don't mention Nana..
Till date in Gonja kingdom (present day Savannah Region in Ghana, all royal princes are called Lorg-Naa (meaning warrior prince) in old mendinka language.
From Gonja historical and cultural heritage, they claim the following dynasty as descendants of the Old Ghana empire..
      (a)Dynasty of Sonye's
      (b) Dynasty on the Mansa'
      (c) Dynasty of the Askia.
      The Ghana empire broke apart..
      (d) Dynasty of Bur's
      (e) Dynasty of the wuraa's.
      2. The kingdom were predominately made up of mandingoes (from the malinke and sonyinke tribes) thus they included Guans and other related tribes that were originally from mende(beyond the river gambia and between Senegal). Akans are never part of mandingoes (present day Guans in Ghana, including Gonjas, wangara, and most northern Ghana tribes share same traits of language and origin of the old Ghana kingdomand not Akan states)..
      3. The old Ghana empire was converted to Islam way before the ascension of the greatest War lord called Musah (Mansah musah). These they did through Suon Adi-aayata Ketia mansa musahs maternal uncle, who led the sea farin guans to the coast modern day Ghana and who never returned while his various search parties came down looking for him and therefore decided to stay(efutu and ewutu clans of the guans).
      4. The kingdom of Ghana fell during the reign of Askia Duadu. Who was a grandson of mansa Musha Kankan (kankan means Termite). Till date in Gonja kingdom (present day Savannah Region in Ghana, all royal princes are called Lorg-Naa (meaning warrior prince) in old mendinka language...
      5. The differences in the foods, clothes and cultural aspets are different, including Architecture. Njene mosque is similar to other tribes of the northern Ghana, and Burkina faso.
These are but a few things that defeat your arguments unless you claim, people of northern Ghana are of Akan extract. Which is totally and totally NO.
GET THE RIGHT HISTORIC ACCOUNTS OF THE HISTORY OF ASHANTIS AND AKANS.

The Akans, who made up 60% of Ghana's population at independence and even now, migrated from the Old Ghana Empire to present day Ghana, Cote D'Ivoire and some parts of Togo. That is why the Founders of modern-day Ghana chose that name. Let's get it straight.

The Akan were so great that every place they reached, they are established a kingdom or an empire with Ghana empire being one.

Europeans never wrote that Kemet was named after a Yoruba man called Kemi.
Kemi's mysterious ways of healing people and mixing his herbs gave us Kemi - mysteries(Chemistry)
Before the Akan came from Mesopotamia to Northern Kemet(present Israel) and main Kemet, it was Yoruba people who owned it. That's why till date the Efa/efi power in West Africa still speaks Yoruba whether you use it in Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Togo or Benin.

You have a point, the books I read are from Europe. And we all know Europe distorted many facts about african history. So I am happy that at least we can clarify some of our thoughts here in the comments. I can’t have access to oral history from everywhere but I can share and then reflect on what I am hearing for better content. Now, can you share more sources on what you’re claiming? It could be useful for my research and next videos. Really appreciate the conversation

Great piece. I just have 1 qualm though, Bro:
The Soninke and all other Mandé groups are one in the same. Soninke = Mandé. Please stop separating the two, as that supports a false narrative spun by non-Africans.
The Soninke were the first Mandé group that united all other Mandé tribes under Wagadu as a confederal "empire".
Also, though we Mandé get a lot of credit for influencing West African Civilization; we should remember the Lake Chad Region. They too played an integral role in helping to spur civilization in West Africa.
The diverse groups that inhabited the banks of the Niger river also made a great deal of contributions outside of Wagadu's sphere

  • @augustmajr
    @augustmajr Před 11 měsíci +2

why do foreigners continue to exclude Akan people from Gana. I swear it must be a conspiracy. 😂Because the story some Akan klans tell are very different. Akans are not native to that location we call Ghana today So where do the Akans come from? oral migratory maps place some of us in Koumbi Saleh we were there for about 400-500 years and as far as Nubia now Sudan. Some Klans and there’s many in the Akan tribe have stories that link them to that part of the world they called Assyria. That history is there. By the way “Akan” as it is spelt and pronounced means absolutely nothing in the Twi language. 😂
Try this experiment. Find any twi speaker and say “Akan” we would look at you with the awkwardness. The pronunciation of that word, the history behind it is also there. Please get your Black history from Black People. 😂 in my Klan(Eguafo) which is part of the kingdom of Fante, it’s necessary to spend time with your elders/family heads. before you know it traditions have been passed down to you without even knowing. The customs, the gods, the Lunar systems and deities that can be traced or found in other major black tribes. Stay blessed 👋🏾

🌍, Africa has a long history and Ashanti was only a fraction of it. Before the Europeans lines, Gambia, Ghana, Burkina were made up of different people. There is no single linear people that stayed and controlled one place for thousands of years. Ghana is an ancestral name that existed long before the country.
