  • Please forgive the unscripted quality of this.
    This tutorial should go over the basics of exporting read only assets from source 2 as best as I am currently aware of.
    One main caveat that is explained at the end of the video, this technique is limited to static props and is not useful for properly exporting rigged & animated geometry.

      @@MichaelShilliday The video is really helpful, especially the way to get textures, it's just brilliant.
      But I have a problem with importing models into blender. Because of this, I cannot finish one of the projects without a model.
      Blender gives an error when importing DMX, no matter what model I take. Can you help? Pls

    there's a tool called valve resource format which could decompile source 2 models/materials.

      yeah, but how to oopen a vmat (texture file)?

    • @Janfon1
      @Janfon1 Před 2 lety

      @ vmat is just a script that tells source what textures to use. Look for vtex_c instead

    How would one go about ripping the map as a whole? Would I have to do this with each individual asset, or is there a better way?

    What is that asset browser? I am using blender and so far running into a wall exporting the model, opening it up in hlmv only for it to have no textures..

      what engine are you using? This is for Source 2, not the Half-Life model viewer.

      the new model doc editor should be able to export rigged character models straight to .dmx now.

      SMD/DMX support is a third party script you need to install. It doesn't come with blender.

      The version of blender I am using in this video is 2.79, if you are using a newer version you will have to apply a texture to your model using the material nodes.
