This tutorial should go over the basics of exporting read only assets from source 2 as best as I am currently aware of.
One main caveat that is explained at the end of the video, this technique is limited to static props and is not useful for properly exporting rigged & animated geometry.
The video was super helpful for me, thank you!
Alexander Morozov no problem
@@MichaelShilliday The video is really helpful, especially the way to get textures, it's just brilliant.
But I have a problem with importing models into blender. Because of this, I cannot finish one of the projects without a model.
Blender gives an error when importing DMX, no matter what model I take. Can you help? Pls
there's a tool called valve resource format which could decompile source 2 models/materials.
yeah, but how to oopen a vmat (texture file)?
@ vmat is just a script that tells source what textures to use. Look for vtex_c instead
How would one go about ripping the map as a whole? Would I have to do this with each individual asset, or is there a better way?
Thanks bro. Been searching for this for long.
You need download VRF and export them all from there, with rigs materials etc. etc.
the hell is VRF? can you elaborate?
@@Grumbledookvid valve resource format, a software.
What is that asset browser? I am using blender and so far running into a wall exporting the model, opening it up in hlmv only for it to have no textures..
what engine are you using? This is for Source 2, not the Half-Life model viewer.
Seems impossible to export textures (in full resulution) that are bigger than your screen... do you know of a way?
maybe the source 2 resource viewer?
THANK YOU!
How do I export the model from Source 2 Viewer? It works for textures, but cant seem to work with models.
you can export models from the model doc editor in the source 2 sdk
@@MichaelShilliday "Source 2 requires Windows 10 or later to run"
LMAO nah
@@rahzoriel2103 then I can't help ya
@@MichaelShilliday Yea, thank you bro, I'll check alternatives.
Can it be used to export more difficult objects as a creeps or Roshan ?
the new model doc editor should be able to export rigged character models straight to .dmx now.
i dont see any option for importing dmx files on blender, does they change that feature in new blender update?!
SMD/DMX support is a third party script you need to install. It doesn't come with blender.
@@MichaelShilliday thanks, i enjoyed your tutorials a lot
Can do with héroes with arcanas
oh god.. thats how you're getting the textures? Thats unusable for material maps that use alpha.
There’s a better way to extract the materials more directly using the source 2 resource viewer.
Bro, how to export models sequences? Models with animations?
I have a few videos covering this subject, you can find them on my channel
@@MichaelShilliday Thank`s! Maybe u know how export particals?
Broooooo heelloo :DD help meee , how u centered mm texture in blender ? me map uv no see nothing :(
The version of blender I am using in this video is 2.79, if you are using a newer version you will have to apply a texture to your model using the material nodes.
@@MichaelShilliday ok , i try , esto es lo que puedo hacer czcams.com/video/FiZe-OuFI8I/video.html
