No, thats not fun. That makes me so much sadder. I didnt care much for him in the anime initially but this movie made me fall in love with him. An insanely powerful Demon Slayer thats also a sort of comic relief? Hell yeah! I've never cried in a movie before but this movie made me tear up...

Enmu was already Lower 1, the strongest lower ranked demon. He got a surplus of Muzans blood at the end of the season 1 making him stronger.

Rui probably got more blood than other lower moons because Muzan sympathized with his situation and liked him expecially

I understand their feelings though, when I first read manga, at Red light district arc, I thought UM6 is the "WEAKEST" UM and Uzui easily chopped his head off. Man, I was wrong. The weakest among UM, but even stronger than hashira.

Unfortunately, even if there was a Breathing Technique to heal huge wounds like that, Rengoku is probably missing the lower parts of his lungs and the upper part of his diaphragm. His entire respiratory system was completely shot. Honestly, it's a miracle that he was able to breathe at all, let alone speak.
Yeah, it was right through his solar plexus. There was no way to regenerate from that. Wikipedia even states it really clearly:
"In the context of sparring or injury, a strike to the region of the stomach around the celiac plexus is commonly called a blow "to the solar plexus".
[...] A blow to this region may cause the diaphragm to spasm, resulting in difficulty in breathing-a sensation commonly known as "getting the wind knocked out of you"."
It's an anime, man. It's not a miracle he could breathe or speak. Like how heads get chopped off and they can speak.
He only survived for as long as he did due to plot armor
@@darkstar8196 Those are demons though. You have to suspend your disbelief for what they can do. But Rengoku is a human whose powers revolve around breathing. If he can talk without his respiratory system, that's either a miracle or he's a badass.
There was a way for him to survive, but he would never have gone down that route.

Rengoku words carry so much wisdom and hits you hard, he was inspired by his mother because he is strong that he must protect the weak, he is an amazing brother and a hero, he saved a lot of people on the train and the trio, he told them because his a hashira his duty is to protect them because they’re the future, when Rengoku was dying and saw his mother telling him she’s proud of him, he smiled happily knowing that he fulfilled his duty to the end, he died a honourable death, goodbye and thank you Kyojuro Rengoku.

Sadly Akaza was only using 1/3rd of his moves against Rengoku and still was able to beat him

He knew Rengoku was strong, that a fighter like him was only born once a century. 🔥🔥 Akaza could've completely butchered Rengoku but he decided to fight on equal grounds.
yeah I'm not a manga reader but I felt like during this whole fight he was just having fun, which got me so frustrated lol.
@@kartikeytyagi2330 I think he meant that at the end of the fight Akaza underestimated him, because he probably thought ‘oh yeah he is dead already’, but he still had to run away by cutting his own limbs off since Rengoku wouldn’t let him escape and the sun was coming up.

Rengoku is my fav but if akaza was going all out , rengoku didn’t stand a chance. Remember that akaza was fighting him but trying to convince him to become a demon, he wasn’t trying to kill rengoku. It just shows why the upper ranks haven’t been killed by a hashira for hundreds of years

to be fair to demons, they literally cant fight in sunlight. while tanjiro is right saying that they hav the advantage at night, its not completely true bcuz they will die instantly in sunlight which means they can ONLY fight at night. imagine if humans die instantly when night comes. ofc they would run tf away. akaza was right here. he wasnt running away from them, he was running away from the sun. had the sun not come up, he woulda finished off rengoku and proceeded to wipe out tanjiro and inosuke.
That's absolutely true. I think Tanjiro was mostly influenced by his emotions as he couldn't accept the unfair fight that happened in front of him without him being able to do anything. What he couldn't accept was the fact that humans aren't immortal like the demons. Rengoku could have lived and beat Akaza if they had been on the same grounds, but unfortunately or fortunately, Akaza is a demon, Rengoku isn't...

Night doesn't give demons an advantage it doesn't enhance their strength if the could fight under a shelter in the day the demons would still be at the same strength as they are at night

This was such a good movie, Ufotable took the source material and elevated it to a whole new level. I’m so happy that they were able to give Rengoku’s fight justice and make it even better than it was originally. Reading this in the manga it was all happiness and laughs after defeating the Lower 1 and then Akaza arrived to screw it all up 😭 this was the arc that marked a before and after in Demon Slayer :c
Now that you have seen an Upper Moon fight, I can finally give the power rankings in terms of strength:
Upper Moons (all have lived for more than 100 years) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hashira >>>>>>>> Lower Moons (all are dead now).
All Upper Moons are strong, but even between them the power difference is noticeable, for example, the difference in power between Upper Moon 1 and 6 is HUGE. Sadly, Kyojuro had to fight alone against the third most powerful one :c the boys were definitely not on par and wouldn’t have been able to fight him, even if they did it together, so Kyojuro had to hold him off until daybreak 🥺
To this day he is still my favorite Hashira, and in my top 3 characters in demon slayer, he left a big impression on me even if he left us too soon 🤧 he will be missed, but don’t worry Morgan, the series doesn’t forget him so he will make appearances in future arcs 😭❤️

Remember when yall hated the hashiras for not welcoming a demon in their base? Lol
This show is so great because it’s a total tragedy every character we meet has/is suffering. It’s like a world of darkness and pain and nothing is easy or fair but tanjiro stands out as a beacon of light and compassion and he draws it out of the people around him.
A lot of fans speculated why the movie ended the way it did. I feel it was more as a way of showing off the upper ranks as a big threat, as well as redeeming the Hashira's from their last appearance where they were very prejudiced against Nezuko and tough on Tanjiro. From Rengoku we learned that he's not narrow minded. He's kind, protective, and very committed to defending the weak against demons. In a way it was like showing the Hashira's as Humanity's brightest hope, and a demon's worst nightmare. They are tough on demons because they have to be, but with the exception of someone like Nezuko, who went out of her way to also save the people in the train, that Rengoku understood and accepted her. It also reinforced Tanjiro and the crew to continue their fight against the demons. The ending though, incredibly somber
Shinobu even said that it takes about 3-4 hashiras to kill one high ranking upper moon.

Hes talking about the movie. I was expecting it to end at the part where tanjiro visits rengokus home, but the movie instead chose to end much earlier.
It also kinda prepares you for how it goes until the end lol, clearly stating that no one will be save from getting killed or dying. I was a mess at the end of the manga. Pure emotional damage.
I find it funny that you guys probably hated Akaza after watching the movie, since you’ll probably cry more when his backstory gets animated. Akaza was easily my favorite demon in the show.
Akaza is a badass I honestly like him and rengoku equally with giyu a little above them and zenitsu my favourite

Beast Breathing is a Breathing Style personally created and self-taught by Inosuke Hashibira after living in the mountains and fighting for survival. It is said to be distantly derived from the Wind Breathing.
It’s a branch of wind breathing.

The first time we saw Inosuke using his Beast Breathing he said ''Self Tought'', so I guess he made that one by himself, using animals as an inspiration.
He did make it up him self, it’s basically a sub category of wind breathing

LOVED Inosuke in this movie. His sense was so good he knew the train was evil all along, and thus was able to find the weak spot so easily. And when you mentioned his breathing, his breathing isnt really a derivative of anything. He invented it pretty much. Having been raised by boars he kind of came into his own. Big reason why I love him. The other two had former hashiras training them, but Inosuke is just his own type of amazing
After that scene with Kyojuro and his younger brother, he became my favorite in the movie. Set your heart ablaze!
This movie captured the philosophy of my life and I was in tears watching it. It doesn’t matter what anyone’s situation is, if we have the power and the means to help others then we should. Never use strength for personal gain like Akaza. Focus on the people around you and raise them up. Rengoku dying sucks but it’s going to inspire Tanjiro and the gang to go further than they probably planned to. I bet Inosuke will become the first beast Hashira now. Great video btw

fun fact: the little pick things that Lower 1's human minions were using are actually made from his teeth, hence why they can pierce demon slayer uniforms since those are strong enough to block knifes and the claws and teeth of weak demons

They are also lucky Akaza loves to waste his time by talking. If he was bloodthirsty & went all out from the start. It would have been more bad than that.
Since the beginning it wasnt akazas goal to kill rengoku. His goal was to convince him to become a demon. Akazas power gets explained later on
And thank god Akaza held back. He was basically playing with Rengoku and trying to turn him into a demon.
Mainly because he isn’t considerate or patient like Akaza. He might ask him to become demon one time. That’s it also Rengoku doesn’t even a Mark at this point so I don’t know whether he will be impressed by Rengoku like Akaza.

Just to let u guys know that if inosuke, tanjiro, or Zenitsu had tried to jump in they would have 100% have died. A Upper Moons Strength is equivalent to that of three hashira. And I also gotta point out how Akaza was holding back that entire time since he would have preferred for Rengoku to turn into a demon so yeah
I always forget that part especially when compared to his later fight in the series. Definitely my favorite demon in the series
Not all the uppermoons are equivalent to 3 hashiras as we seen.
Only uppermoon 1-4 would need several hashiras for them to be defeated.
@@rajnibrown2194 it still took a lot to defeat daki *upper 6* and she wasn't even the true upper 6 that was gyutaro. Upper 5 is also pretty strong only reason he was beaten easily is cause he was fighting the prodigy Muichiro and it took Muichiro almost dying and receiving his mark to defeat Gyokko
@@gerardotorres8029 daki was getting beaten by nezuko. And the reason why daki and gyutaro was hard to beat, wasn't because of their strength but because they have to cut there necks simultaneously and that was stated because uzui did managed to slice gyutaro neck but he didn't die because daki was still alive. Meaning, uzui could've beaten gyotaro if it wasn't for that trick and uzui is on the weaker side of hashiras when it comes on to strength.
It doesn't matter if uppermoon 5 fought a prodigy or not, it still remain a fact that it took a single hashira to defeat him. So the 3 or more hashira killing an uppermoon is misinformation on shinobu part.
Only uppermoon 1-4 have shown feats that would take 3 hashiras to defeat. Uppermoon 5-6 haven't and actually lost to a single hashira.
I take back what I said cuz Morgan has some of *THE* best reactions in the pack 😭😭😭

The movie is just adapting from the source Light novel and manga. You should question why the author decided to have rengoku sacrifice himself for his juniors

Inouske's beast breathing is a stand alone one... just like the sun breathing, beast breathing is not derived from anything which Inouske created himself which is why some people think the he might not be as strong but as talented as yoriichi because he invented the beast breathing technique

Rengoku glorious death shows the honor he had in not submitt to corruption, shows that Is needed more than 1 hashira to handle an upper moon, and inspire people to not corrupt herselfs and not betray her convictions iven in front of eminent Death.

I'm sure someone answered already but Inosuke is Beast Breathing a form derived from Wind breathing I believe. That said there is a lot of great things about this movie. I love that Inosuke and Zenitsu include Neziko in their dreams showing they accept her and Tangi but also Rengoku accepting her was touching after the last time we saw him and the general attitude towards her. I really liked Tanjiro and Inosuke working together to take the train down. So many great moments showing Inosuke's growth as well The ending was amazing and I dont know anyone with a soul that didnt shed at least a tear. ;)
Some people have their opinions but I believe they did such a good job making you like a character in such a short time, some people think rengokus time was wasted in the series but it was great character development for tanjiro
The pacing of demon slayer doesn't allow for any of the characters to really be fleshed out before they die tbh, rengoku was my favorite hashira but solely because of his design since that all I knew him by, it's the same with the demons too
@@jaycienlovelace3123 If by fleshed out you mean more panels/screentime, I would argue against it. I think Demon Slayer does a great job of establishing its characters with a minimalist aproach. Basically I think Koyoharu Gotoge has been able to master the concept of "less is more" in her work. The standard aproach works good as well but it always has the risk of getting boring too quickly or even derailing the entire theme of an arc just to satisfy a minor character that might not even get attention in the next arc or overall main story. People throughout history has been able to touch people's heart and inspire them through simple short tasks such as a speech or actions. People fell for them and followed them even sometimes to the most extreme ends despite not getting their entire lifestory before meeting them. That's what Rengoku's character has achieved. You might've not gotten to know him personally but the charisma of his character was more than enough to compensate the brief apearance and Gotoge has made sure that his presence was never forgotten either during the entire runtime of the series. It's not the most perfect method but it doesn't deserve getting too harshly underestimated either.
@@robertosabado4955 its comes across more generically than emotional for me, when a character is introduced especially the villains and killed off in a short amount of time and then a backstory kicks in after or during the death, I don't feel for the characters as much because I dont really know them, i think rengoku was done better than most characters because of the dream segment but for other characters like douma I felt absolutely nothing for him🤷♂️, rui also was my favorite character because he got the best screentime and fleshing out of nearly all the characters in season 1

Fun fact:- For those who thought rengoku can win this fight when he used final form(including me before reading manga)are wrong akaza was toying with him and he used like only 20% to 30% of his power until the very end. You can say he was dead serious when the sun was rising but he still had chance since upper moons specially top 3 moons can withstand sunlight for a few seconds as we saw hantengu after getting exposed to sunlight was not burned instantly he was killed by tanjiro.
Imagine watching this in theaters, we were all crying during the ending 🥲

Its funny cuz first time i saw him i call him p*ssy but after I read his back story damn Akaza.
Knew what was gonna happen from the manga, and seen this 3 times in theaters, subbed, dubbed, then subbed again. Bawled my eyes out for every instance lol. Even though there were parts cut out of the reaction, it didn't help to keep me from doing so again. But great reaction ladies! Listening to your comments and predictions is always an awesome time. I liked that they went with a movie format to advance the arc, or bring a close to the lower ranked demons, and introduce us to the upper ranks. I wonder if the end of the series will be movie style as well. Seldom do the movies ever tie-in to the main series' story. Hope you enjoy the rest of the series!

I loved this movie, reading it in the manga didn't give me much to work with but this movie to me shows how great this series is and how amazing the fights later down the line will look. I just saw this movie this week and ended up crying alot.
Until now I'm still brimming with tears everytime I heard Homura (the ending song) parts 'Mirai no Tame ni' because, yes, in the Rengoku Kyoujuro Gaiden comic (the story how Rengoku-san became Flame Pillar) Oyakata-sama said that 'Kyoujuro someday will be a man who changes the future of Demon Slayer', and yes, his prediction came true... but he muat died first so his blazing spirit transfered to Tanjiro & co. The real 'Mirai no Tame ni' (for the future)... 😢😢😢

I highly recommend for anyone who watched the movie to read Rengoku's 2 chapter manga... It tells how and when he became Hashira, he was even the Sensei of one of the other Hashiras.

@@bellemendoza2311 It's a spin-off called Rengoku Gaiden which consists of 2 chapters. I would also recommend reading Rengoku one-shot chapter which shows Rengoku's first mission as a demon slayer.

Rengoku's death is the way that they show us how strong are the Upper ranks and that even hashiras could died against them :(
