7 Foods You Should Never Feed Your Cat

- Most cats are picky eaters, and as such, less likely to be interested in some human foods than dogs, but because a cat's digestive system is different from a human's, some human foods can be highly toxic and even deadly to cats.The following seven foods should never be given to cats. If your cat accidentally ingests any of these foods, emergency veterinary treatment may be necessary and an immediate visit to the veterinarian is essential.
Onions and garlic
All members of the onion family (shallots, onions, garlic, scallions, etc.) contain a compound that can damage cats' red blood cells if eaten in sufficient quantities. Some of these are more toxic than others, and cooking does not destroy the toxin. While most cats probably wouldn't eat raw onions or garlic, even products that contain small traces can be dangerous. A particular caution applies to baby food, which is often used to entice sick cats to eat: some brands contain onion powder to add flavoring. Read labels carefully before feeding.
Alcohol
Alcohol can be extremely dangerous for cats, leading to intoxication, coma and even death. Due to their small size, cats are far more sensitive to the effects of alcohol than humans. Cats are often attracted to mixed drinks containing cream or milk, such as eggnog.
Chocolate
Even though cats don't have a sweet tooth, some cats will eat chocolate as part of nibbling on a cookie, candy or other baked treats. Chocolate contains caffeine and theobromine. The darker the chocolate, the higher the theobromine levels.
Moldy or spoiled food
Some molds can produce multiple toxins that can cause vomiting, diarrhea and neurological symptoms. Spoiled food can contain bacteria that can cause intestinal problems.
Raw fish
Eating raw fish can result in a thiamine deficiency, which can lead to loss of appetite, seizures, and in severe cases, death.
Raw dough
Dough made with live yeast can be extremely dangerous for cats. The stomach provides an ideal environment for yeast to multiply. This will lead to the dough expanding in the stomach, which can be severe enough to cut off blood flow to the stomach wall and affect breathing. It can also cause the stomach to rupture. As yeast metabolizes the sugar in the dough, alcohol is produced, which can lead to alcohol poisoning.
Cooked bones
Gnawing on Raw bones can be a great way for kitty to keep her teeth clean, but never give cooked bones to your cat. Cooked bones can splinter and cause intestinal perforations. - Zábava

I saved one of my kittens one time it got into some cleaning supplies. She was less than 4 months. I forced heated milk down her throat with a baby bottle. While rushing to a vet, she was already turning cold looking all blue. I prayed as I made her drink the hot/warm milk. She threw up and I continued to feed her the milk, It took like 30 mins or less that her color and eyes started getting life back into her. I was so thankful she came back but it was the milk that saved her.👍

Either way you are correct that stray cats only live about 2 years. That’s not due to their diet though, it’s the substantially high amounts of outside dangers (cars, abusive humans, other cats, larger predators depending on where you live, etc) along with a lack of any veterinary care whatsoever. Easily solvable issues like URIs or UTIs can kill a cat quickly if they have no vet care. There are a lot of people who are feeding their cats raw meat or even whole prey with great results! Dr. Becker is a good resource on cat nutrition

My vet told me that one raw and organic egg yolk a day is great for cats. It has omega 3 which is great for their fur, and it makes the fur nice and shiny.

I had a piece of chocolate that I thought was well hidden... on the top of an old stand up piano at the back behind pictures.... sure enough, he found it. of course that is when I put it in the cupboard, didn't before as I thought he would nevrer get it where I put it!.... his name was bonkers and he suited it perfectly!
Goats milk is okay for cats especially bottle feeding kittens. It's less aggressive on their stomachs and has pre-biotics which are actually very good for cats. Both my bottle babies were raised on goats milk and they thrived on it and now that my bottle baby has kittens of her own I supplement their diet with goats milk to give Mama a rest. Kitten Milk Replacement is not good imo it's literally powder mixed with water and has little nutrients. Tip: Try adding coconut oil to goats milk when bottle feeding they will love it!!

Yes but make sure you warm it before feeding and if you already have KMR then you can add a scoop and mix it in thoroughly. I know I said KMR is of no value but a scoop will add a little extra calcium. Also don't forget to add a small amount of water to the goats milk just for extra hydration. My formula was as follows: Goats milk [90% of the formula] with a scoop of KMR [not always though] and linseed oil [for extra fibre] and on occasion coconut oil for energy. My kittens grow huge and are very healthy and happy cats. Note: Linseed oil is the equivalent to Flax seed oil so make sure you don't buy the wrong linseed oil which is for wood. It might sound like a fussy formula and most simple formulas will work but I wanted the best for my bottle babies and had much success. Good luck and here to help if you need.

Actually milk is fine for most cats- I personally know 3 vets and they've all said so, some cats have lactose intolerance so they can't have milk, but most cats are fine to have it.

Guys, so outside I found a kitten. So, please read and help me! Thanks. I never liked cats, actually never preferred cats at all. Today, I heard a cat crying none stop in my parking lot and I thought something had happened. I decided to go outside and there was a small scared kitten. I was afraid and I didn't know what to do and I called it. The small thing walked over to me and it looked alone. She didn't belong to anyone! I made sure of that because I walked around my neighbourhood and went to the vet. Now, I decided to take her in and just let her be until I can find someone who can take her. She walked over to me and began to cuddle against and love me. I have NEVER had a strong connection like this with an animal and really, I LOVE this kitten. I need help, I just DONT know what to do! She was a stray and really, I just need tips and help.

The thing about giving cats milk is that as cats age they become lactose intolerant. This can cause diarrhea, vomiting, upset stomachs, severe cramps and pain. Some cats handle milk better than others but since your cat can't tell you how upset its stomach gets or if it causes them pain, it is better to not give them something questionable. If you want to give your cat milk as a treat you can always spend a little more money and get them lactose free milk. I have a cat that if you called her picky would be an understatement but her sister loves treats and I feel bad about giving a treat to one animal without them all getting something. The one that is picky however absolutely loves milk and so I bought her a condiment cup from the kitchen section of Walmart for 1dollar and I buy the small individual size bottle of fairlife milk (all fairlife milk is lactose free and keeps for a good bit) and put 3 to 4 tablespoons of milk in it for her treat when her sister gets a treat and she absolutely loves it and I have yet to have any problems 😻. I hope this helps someone and just remember even if your cats symptoms are not on the bad end of lactose problems as in vomiting and diarrhea, they still can't tell you that it is causing them nausea and stomach pain so please just buy them lactose free 😺😻

Natural milk from any animal doesn't have the chemicals they put in our foods. That's why it was ok. Store bought milk causes diarea.

Nobody can hold a cat longer if cat wants to do something else like playing or going for food. You can hold the cat when it comes to you letting you pet and massage it. They will let you know when is the best time to hold them, so don’t worry 😉

The strays cats that took refuge in our garage eats anything we give to them(fish head and bones,cooked pasta,bread corned beef,junk food sometimes,cheese curls).but they just waive toasted bread.At night they hunt their own food,I saw them eating house lizard,house gecko,crickets, cicadas,Kamarus,rats,mouse,but they just ignore frogs and chicks.
I can’t imagine anyone feeding their cat any of this stuff apart from milk
My thoughts too. Now mine have been known to eat flies, grasshoppers, mice, moles, chipmunks and birds. Cats are hunters, but I have never seen them stalking a mushroom.

ualuuanie, that is actually true. But they mostly prefer ground nests and broken eggs. The truth is some cats are allergic to eggs, which is the one of the most common cat allergy. There’s also others things I needed to pointed out.
Cats CAN eat eggs, you just can’t give it to a cat all the time because it can increased the risk of obesity. And you can’t give raw eggs.

Yeah I remember me eating an ice cream and I forgot and left the wrapper with melted vanilla icecream and she liked it when ever I have icecream she sits next to me until I let her lick which I don't , and one other weird thing my cat lovessss ham and when ever I make a regular ham and cheese sandwich my cat would go crazy she likes it and I feed it to her sometimes when I don't have enough money for her food and it's not a lot of money but I'm only 14 so I don't get money everyday you know ?

+CatGamez Cow milk can give them stomachs cramps, diarrhea, vomiting and will make their litter smell bad.. I personally wouldn't give my cat something that's not for their bodies to consume but that's just my opinion to keep my fur baby healthy

Hmm, maybe. She has no diarrhea, and she vomits very rarely. But maybe my cat is just different. You never know.
Garlic in very small{and I do mean VERY SMALL!} moderation is not going to harm a cat, I had a couple of cats, one that lived 16.5 years, the other 18.5 years and I had put a small, very small, amount of garlic powder in their wet food, it actually helped keep fleas off them, I used a small amount in their wet food 3 times a week, once a day, it was just a small finger pinch in each cats food dish and mixed well in their morning feed.
Again, both cats lived to ripe old ages for cats, one was 16.5 years old and his issue was renal failure due to he got diabetes, the other 18.5 years and had to be euthanized due to an improper procedure by a "trainee" was done on him, otherwise there was a good chance he'd still be with me today, as the vet that found what caused his problem said he probably would have lived to be at least 25, maybe even possibly 30 years old.
But the vets I took them too over their lifetime, all said the garlic powder in the amount I gave them over the time they were given it was fine.
Never gave them chocolate or anything that even the smallest amount could be extremely toxic and incur death.
And both these male cats drank cream and regular milk all the time, never made them sick, never had diarrhea from drinking it. They only got it maybe twice to three times a week, but they never had issues with it.
p.s. both of them ate Pizza all the time too {Cheese pizza, only kind the wife and I like} and the cats loved it too. Never did them a world of harm!
