  • Let me introduce you to some amazing Blunami technology from Soundtraxx decoders. I am talking to George from Soundtraxx about their amazing new DCC decoder technology called Blunami. It combines the power of DCC with Bluetooth to open the door to the future of DCC and model railroading. Watch as George tells us all about it.

    Oh, NO! I just paid the last installment of my DCC conversion loan. Now, I've got to go to Blew Nami. Bring on another thousand, as they say........... I hope the bank never figures out these home improvement loans are for my model railroad.
    Ron........ the lines in your face are developing character in your appearance. They suit you well. Thanks for another informative, great video. Good show.

    I am really excited about this product. I have one pre-ordered for a GP7 locomotive. Blunami has a lot of added benefits and for someone new getting into the hobby (HO scale and bigger) , they can run/control a DCC locomotive without having a DCC system. I've seen the Arkansas Lego Club, Arklug, add several of these to their Lego locomotives and even added lighting to those locomotives. Eventually dead rail will become a technology of the future! Thanks for sharing! - Jason

      Many suggest dead rail for G scale. I've heard people are already using it in HO scale.
      I would like to see some more budget friendly decoders for G scale though.

    I am extremely excited to see this product! I am only just getting back into the hobby, and I have been debating about which DCC system to invest in. But the Blunami system has one thing that I have thought was lacking - a true GUI interface! The wireless aspect is nice, especially the flexibility it lends to moving locomotives around between separate layouts, but for me the true sales point is the interface. I love it! I will be buying it! 🙂

      @goaliegeorge Před 10 měsíci +1

      Yes, everything jmri can do but done by us and it’s more accurate and more comprehensive.
      As far as N scale? As fast as we can! The Bluetooth chip is about the size of your pinky nail, so it will be a bit more tricky to got it on a small decoder, but we have it in the plans! Thanks!

    Great video. It's very interesting to think where all this Bluetooth business will take us in the future.
    A have a couple of thoughts about your fascia color. The green color is very nice and pleasing to the eye. In fact, it's a bit too pleasing to my eye when it comes to the ceiling fascia. My eye is drawn to it, rather than it being subtle. I think a flat black or something much darker than the current color would be more appropriate. I think you could keep the current color for your mid-level fascia and get away with it, but it's still just a little too vivid for me. The ideal fascia provides a finished look, but is not noticeable. It should draw attention to the trains and the layout, not itself. If that's what you're getting out of it right now, then by all means ignore my comment and carry on.

    @chrisbarr1359 Před 10 měsíci +1

    Does this mean we'd have to remove our old decoders and buy these for all our locomotives, if we want to use this system?

  • @Bliz0516
    @Bliz0516 Před 10 měsíci +1

    Great advancement, but I don’t even look at soundtrax stuff since it’s not really for n scale. Blunami sounds the same, it will be some time before that is available. I am going to Japan in November who cater to n scale much more than US manufacturers and I am excited to see their technology.

    • @goaliegeorge
      @goaliegeorge Před 10 měsíci

      We have a lot for N. Maybe not 30 drop in formats, but our N18 can fit into most models even with the N18 adapter. We have the drop in KN1 for Kato N wide body models. So, should give us another look! Thanks.

    • @Bliz0516
      @Bliz0516 Před 10 měsíci

      @@goaliegeorge yes I looked at installing the N18 adapter and KN decoder and a speaker in my Kato SD70ACE’s. In the end i thought it was just easier to find a drop in sound decoder. However for any locomotives with a next18 I agree it’s a viable option.

    • @Bliz0516
      @Bliz0516 Před 10 měsíci

      Sorry not the KN with the N18, meant the n18 with adapter

  • @DrDiff952

    Does it work with my DCC-EX?

  • @MarksGoneWicked
    @MarksGoneWicked Před 10 měsíci +1

    I have that power supply, it's size is surprisingly misleading. It weighs a ton! 😅 Took me a minute to get used to the weight.
    As for the decoder, I'm wondering if I could use it in my old LGB loco 🤔 I've been told an HO decoder us sufficient for operation.

    • @TheTrainFreak
      @TheTrainFreak Před 10 měsíci +1

      Look at the BLU-4408. That decoder is rated for O scale and is rated for 4amp stall where the HO decoders are only rated for 2amp stall.

    • @MarksGoneWicked
      @MarksGoneWicked Před 10 měsíci +1

      It's 30 years old 😅 I'm told 2A decoder is all that's needed. I'm also considering a Massoth decoder that's pretty inexpensive, and using a DCC-EX command station. The 4408 is overkill. Now if they had an 8A decoder (6A + 2A stall) I'd consider it for my Aristo-Craft locomotives.

    • @MarksGoneWicked
      @MarksGoneWicked Před 10 měsíci +1

      Also, it's still early in the morning, wasn't thinking about the form factor. My lgb is super basic, non-dcc. The 2208 might be a better fom factor. 😅

  • @jamessled1317
    @jamessled1317 Před 10 měsíci

    Anyone willing to help a new guy get started. I have lots of easy track ho scale and a few easy track turnouts non dcc. I just recently bought nce dcc system. Sadly have only the ability to set up my old dc trains at christmas time around the tree. I want to change it, but only place i could build is in the garage, but no room in there. So I thought maybe a hoist system to hoist layout up out of the way by pulling it to the roof when not in use to use my garage. The boss wife would allow that. any ideas how to rig a system like that?

    • @Bliz0516
      @Bliz0516 Před 10 měsíci

    Run your train layout with your smartphone or tablet? "The future of DCC and model railroading" has been here for a while now...
    Marklin, Roco, Toy-Tec, and ESU have all had mobile app capability with their control systems for over half a decade. You can even do remote digital switching.
    Other than being bluetooth vs wlan, I'm not seeing the revolution here. Is the US side of the hobby really that segregated from what the European makers have been doing that this seems that amazing?

  • @chrisd.9513
    @chrisd.9513 Před 10 měsíci

    Sure, why should we need to use our brains to remember things.
