    Hey this was a great video. Thank you for sharing it. I also grow peanuts here in SW Florida in my backyard garden. I'm using raised beds & peanuts always grow great. I appreciate your tip of laying down the outer stems and adding a bit of soil. I wouldn't have considered trying that, but I'll give it a shot.

    Woohoo! I'm so stoked they grew for you! Nuts from the Nuthouse lol! Just a little info, the jungle peanuts do not contain aflatoxin, the mold common in traditionally grown varieties of peanuts that is related to peanut allergies. A one ounce serving contains 7 grams of protein, 0 cholesterol, 1 gram sugar, 2 grams dietary fiber, 6% iron, 2% calcium, 2 grams saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat. All based on 2000 calorie diet. They are plumper than conventional peanuts, have slightly sweet butter taste and are awesome raw. I like them just dried but you can roast them.

    • @vickiolson1198
      @vickiolson1198 Před 7 lety

      As you can see from the video, the peanuts grow off of the root area and along any part of the branches that get to touch the soil. Therefore, just like potatoes, the whole plant gets dug out at harvest. The left over peanut plants, once the peanuts have been picked off of them go in the compost bin so the nitrogen balls can add nitrogen to the compost. Crop rotation is always a good thing to practice.
