  • This is our 1978 yz80 that has a 1977 yz80 engine. We bought it this way a few years ago and have had fun getting it going like it should. It has a rare aftermarket swing arm. It seems like someone put it together with a bunch of parts they had laying around and that's why we call it the "Frankenha".
It runs great now and is a blast to ride!

My cousin and I bought a 1980 Yamaha YZ-80 "bumble bee" yellow and black like this brand new. After some back and forth who owned it when and at what time we foolishly sold it around 1989. I still wish we had it back and never sold it. Out of all my bikes I had in my lifetime that was by far my favorite. It was very fast for a 80cc and would easily keep up with and often beat larger displacement 100cc and 125cc 4-cycle enduros or trail bikes.

Just the stock re routed exhaust from a 1977. It had to be re routed because the 1977 had twin shocks and the 1978 has mono shock.
