How I Make the PERFECT Emulsified Sugar Scrubs! (Grapefruit Apricot Whipped Sugar Scrub)

- PLEASE excuse the white square in the top left corner of the screen! Out of all the emulsified sugar scrub recipes I've tried, this one is by far the best! It only calls for a few ingredients and the best part is, it's easy! Basic scrubs with just sugar/salt and a carrier oil are great, and are great for your skin but whipped emulsified scrubs are next level. The emulsifying wax, beeswax, and stearic acid in these help to harden everything while creating a luxurious, lotion-like feel when using the scrub. The optiphen is a preservative I use to prevent mold since this product will be introduced to water in the shower. These are scented with Ruby Red Grapefruit from @Naturesgardencandles and is a great summer scent. I added pink, bursting bath beads to the top just to add a little something extra. The final result of these scrubs leaves your skin exfoliated, glowing, and non-greasy! 18 Oz. Granulated Sugar
Dash of Apricot Seeds
10-12 Drops Vitamin E Oil
8 Tbsp. Coconut Oil (can be substituted for cocoa butter, mango butter, or shea butter)
4 Tbsp. Grapeseed Oil (can be substituted for sweet almond oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil or another carrier oil)
4 Tbsp. Jamaican Black Castor Oil (can be substituted for sweet almond oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil or another carrier oil)
3 Ml. Optiphen (can be substituted for germall plus)
10 Ml. Fragrance Oil
5 Tbsp. Stearic Acid
5 Tbsp. Emulsifying Wax

Looks beautiful! I used pure cane sugar. It came out creamy and I used just a tad more of the sugar.
I never thought about using pure cane sugar.. I'll have to try that next time!

Very nice!! I love the consistency! How is the consistency after you have packaged it a few days? Does it stay the consistency like in the video or will it harden/firm up? Thank you!
Thanks! The consistency stays the exact same for the most part! I've only had it harden up once or twice and even then it didn't get hard by much. I've shipped lots of these sugar scrubs in both hot and cold weather and the consistency has always stayed the same.

You should deff try this recipe! If you do, let me know how it works out for you! As long as you use the correct measurement of each ingredient, they won't harden up. @@hollythomas773

Lovely! Would these make lip safe scrubs too?
This exact recipe wouldn’t work as a lip scrub cause of some of the ingredients but lip scrubs are actually very easy to make! All you need is stearic acid, a carrier oil, sugar, and flavoring oil. I might have to do a lip scrub video soon! 🤔

The apricot seeds look like a powder though we’re they processed, I like watching other people just to get an idea what I can use or not use or what’s trending etc , I’m trying to get my own formulation it’s hard for now where did you purchase your seeds from I didn’t see them on Amazon?
I actually got my seeds in the soap/candle section at Michael's craft store. Michael's is a good place to start especially if you're impatient like me and don't want to wait on shipping! As far as formulation, I would just keep YouTubing different creators and googling things. Brambleberry has great articles covering all sorts of things like soap and sugar scrubs. Hope that helps!
Hi. The stearic acid it’s very important? Can I do it without it?
Hi. Technically you can but the scrub won't be the same. The stearic acid is what adds the lather or "lotion" like feel that you get with a lot of emulsified scrubs. It also helps harden them. Stearic acid can always be substituted for cetyl alcohol.

I used ruby red grapefruit from Nature's Garden
What is a substitute for stearic acid
You can always use cetyl alcohol in place of the stearic acid. I definitely wouldn’t skip using either ingredient because the stearic acid (or cetyl alcohol) is what hardens the scrub and gives it that lotion-like feel.

What if you don't have beeswax..can you replace it with something else?
If you don't have beeswax you can always leave it out and substitute it for a hard butter instead like mango butter or cocoa butter. Beeswax adds a hardness to the scrubs but it isnt 100% necessary. The emulsifying wax is necessary, however.
