  • BEST Moisturizer DIY Lotion Recipe Natural Ingredients | Natural Minimalist | Mindful Wellness
    I'm sharing my favorite DIY organic body lotion recipe, using all-natural ingredients. This simple handmade body butter is incredibly moisturizing, smooth, long-lasting, and cost-effective. The easy DIY natural body lotion is fast to make and is the best handmade lotion there is. The chemical-free, organic lotion is a wonderful way to reduce waste, live mindfully, and be a natural minimalist. Mindful Wellness is about being mindful of the products you use on your body and in your home.
    This simple DIY body butter is my favorite moisturizer, and I think it will be yours too.
    **TIP: If your mixture is not whipping and is very runny it is because it is NOT cooled enough. Put it in the fridge or ice bath and try to whip again. It will become firm when completely cool.

    Hi Connie. Great recipe… I have a similar version I make. I can’t wait to try it! Just a tip I wanted to share. I am a certified essential oil specialist and educator. I wanted to suggest you don’t add the lavender essential oil as heat kills the therapeutic properties. Instead add it once it cools a couple minutes.❤

      @@alinashan857 Lavender oil won't do ANYTHING to your skin, don't worry. It's just a nice scent. They're making shit up and pretending to be "specialists and educators " in "science" that doesn't exist. May as well be a unicorn specialist and educator. The fact is, there is no science-based evidence or consensus on EO for any purpose. It just smells nice.

    🌷PRECIOUS FACE CREAM : 100 g shea butter, 50 g sweet almond oil, 20 drop of essential oil (optional). Heat the shea butter in a saucepan over a low heat. When it is completely melted and cooled, pour it into a bowl together with the almond oil and essential oil. Mix well with a kitchen whisk (or a teaspoon) and then pour it directly into the jar of your choice, close it and place it in the fridge for an hour, the shea butter will solidify again 💜

    So I think I may have found a solution to the mixture not whipping and staying liquefied. I had the same problem. Had accidentally left it in the freezer a bit too long to cool and it hardened partially, but it whipped beautifully at first and then turned to liquid a moment beyond that. I had to try a few more attempts and it was messy but I found the right consistency. I actually think the problem is a combination of the blender and melting the butters beforehand. I had to let it harden quite a bit and drizzled a bit of olive oil as I was blending. I think if you're using a powerful blender, try placing all the ingredients in the jar and whipping them together without melting them first or melt the coconut oil only. That's what I plan to do next time. Once you get it right, it is luxurious and worth it. Connie you have taught me so much. My hair and skin feels amazing. Thank you!

  • @susanmacaluso5218
    @susanmacaluso5218 Před 11 měsíci +11

    Ha! She made this look so easy and I followed it to the letter. The disclaimer is that if it won't whip and stays runny it must cool completely. Wrong. "Cooling completely" infers leaving it at room temperature, or refrigerating it until it is cool, which does nothing. It has to be "refrigerated until it is solid again", then broken up into pieces, then whipped with a hand mixer," because the immersion blender is a messy joke. The lotion is oily and it gets on everything during the process, because I had to go from the immersion blender to the hand mixer because it doesn't make it smooth enough with the immersion blender. ANYWAY, after all of that I will say that it turned out bright white and beautifully whipped, but, man, oh man! I like that it is pure, but it is a bit greasy. My discovery is that if I pour the melted blend of ingredients into lip gloss pots and refrigerate them until solid, then those are awesome lip balms. Not minimalist, because of all the ingredients to purchase, the pans and jars, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, but at least it is pure. I am glad that I didn't give up on it.

    • @gprincess428
      @gprincess428 Před 2 měsíci +1

      It’s definitely minimal compared to the ingredients in store bought lotion. Most people already have the kitchen equipment needed.

    • @cbogan8721
      @cbogan8721 Před 8 dny

      @@gprincess428 Hand mixer is definitely my go to for whipping butters and you can somewhat reduce the oil ratio to make it less oily. I’d do it in smaller batches so you can gauge the ratios for when you want to do a larger batch. When using less oil in certain amounts it will get much thicker, yet creamy after sitting, so I’d just play around with it. Oh, and when I mix it I put a kitchen towel(any towel) or grocery bag around the top of the bowl in a way to prevent it from sloshing around. Watch out for the covering you choose catching onto the beaters. You can even mix with your finger or a popsicle stick if that’s what you have. And I like to use the container my shea butter comes in then reuse them when I’m making smaller batches and differing ingredients. Less clean up. You’ve got this!!!

    Loving your videos, loving your kindness, sweetness and smartness 🌸 I have tried your recipe with lots of fear because I have started getting eczema on my hands a few months ago. I have tried everything, parfume/paraffin free baby lotions to expensive pharmacy moisturizers... Either I got allergic reactions or didn't moisture enough and I couldn't stop having my eczema worse. Only Vaseline was partly helpful but not enough. I went to doctor and he gave some sort of steroids liquid but it was only helping when I use it. After 2 weeks, I had to stop using steroids and my eczema came up again.
    Long in short, your recipe saved my life! No allergic reactions, super moisture and smells amazing. Now I am making my second batch 😊 this time I used less cacao and shea butter less, coconut more to have a softer. Thank you very much ❤️

    Made this today. It took a while to get the right temperature for whisking. I put different essential oil combinations in 4 different little pots. My husband was also in the kitchen making chapatis, just wearing shorts and an apron, so instead of wiping my hands on a cloth between making concoctions, I used 4 legs, 4 arms and his shoulders. He said I should make this "stuff" more often! 😅

This has truly been a time for reflection, introspection and re-evaluation! I'm wanting to try this lotion as I'm currently using Living Libations oils for face cleansing and all over post bath moisturizing. They are amazing pure organic blends but can be fairly expensive long term. I made this and totally agree that it is amazing. It was simple and the end product is the best I have used. I did a little research on the three products used and you should be able to use it on your face if you don’t have acne issue, according to recent research. So far so good on my skin!

    Have just found your channel and subscribed. This is the 3rd video of yours so far. Thank you for the moisturiser recipe which I will make tomorrow as I already have all these ingredients because I make my own soap. I also make my own deodorant. Loving your videos, they are so interesting; and your presentation manner is lovely. Warm wishes from South Australia. 🐾

      Hey Marion! Thanks for subscribing! I'm thrilled you enjoy the videos. I haven't made soap... yet. I have been making deodorant for years. I wonder if our deodorant recipe is similar? Coconut oil and baking soda is what I use.

      @@ConnieRiet Hi Connie. In my deodorant I don't use baking soda because I am allergic to it. (gives me a rash) My recipe is 3 tbsp organic coconut oil, 2 tbsp Shea butter, 2 tbsp arrowroot powder, 2 tsp kaolin clay (optional but good) and 15 drops essential oil, more or less as desired. I found using all coconut oil made it melt too much in hot weather. The Shea butter keeps it firmer and also nourishing for skin

    Hi Connie…nice recipe…just a suggestion…add one teaspoon of hexane free castor oil to your recipe. Castor oil is a humectant and, as long as you don’t add more than 1 to 3% to your formulation, it will speed up absorption and extract moisture from the atmosphere and transport it into your skin ….

    There is a way to prevent the clogged pores on the face. Rub a pinky mail amount or less into wet hands in a very thin layer then gently smooth onto the face or warm the same small amount into hands and apply thinly to a freshly washed and wet face.

    I tried this for the first time tonight. It wouldn't get thick so back into the ice bath. My second attempt was after the mixture started to get really thick, but that was not successful either. I am left with a pourable concoction. You made it look so easy.

    • @ConnieRiet
      @ConnieRiet  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Mary, It is common for the mixture to not thicken if warm. I hope that after it sat for a bit it thickened for you. If you try again, put it in the refrigerator for a bit before mixing.
      Best of luck!

      I just made this body cream last night when I filled my jars the cream was really light and fluffy but when I went to use it today after my shower it was a little hard and not as easy to scoop out. Is there anything I can do it to make it stay more fluffy and creamy?
