- BEST Moisturizer DIY Lotion Recipe Natural Ingredients | Natural Minimalist | Mindful Wellness
I'm sharing my favorite DIY organic body lotion recipe, using all-natural ingredients. This simple handmade body butter is incredibly moisturizing, smooth, long-lasting, and cost-effective. The easy DIY natural body lotion is fast to make and is the best handmade lotion there is. The chemical-free, organic lotion is a wonderful way to reduce waste, live mindfully, and be a natural minimalist. Mindful Wellness is about being mindful of the products you use on your body and in your home.
This simple DIY body butter is my favorite moisturizer, and I think it will be yours too.
**TIP: If your mixture is not whipping and is very runny it is because it is NOT cooled enough. Put it in the fridge or ice bath and try to whip again. It will become firm when completely cool.

I fell in love with this body lotion! It is my favorite moisturizing lotion I've ever used.
I have made two batches and when becomes solid again and not whipped. I did whip it a very long time. It’s easy to use still and melts when you use it but I wanted it whipped.
The question is does it soak in?
Are you still using this Connie?
WHAT DOES THAT SMELL LIKE?
I made it. It’s nice but lately I am just using the shea butter with clear aloe Vera gel or with Vaseline mixed in. I just melted the shea butter and dropped in some Vaseline , stir and it’s a warm wonderful moisturizer!
Hi Connie. Great recipe… I have a similar version I make. I can’t wait to try it! Just a tip I wanted to share. I am a certified essential oil specialist and educator. I wanted to suggest you don’t add the lavender essential oil as heat kills the therapeutic properties. Instead add it once it cools a couple minutes.❤
Plz tell me what should i add in this instead of lavender oil, i have combination skin
@@alinashan857 Lavender oil won't do ANYTHING to your skin, don't worry. It's just a nice scent. They're making shit up and pretending to be "specialists and educators " in "science" that doesn't exist. May as well be a unicorn specialist and educator. The fact is, there is no science-based evidence or consensus on EO for any purpose. It just smells nice.
Thank you Connie.
Thank you for sharing Connie
I’m so excited to make this!!
Thank you dear Connie! Your beauty is stunning ❤
Thank you so much for sharing!! I’m going shopping for these ingredients Saturday!!!
thank connie,thats wonderful
Love the technique of using the mason jars to melt and mix!
Thank you for sharing this, I will give a try.
Love this! Can't wait to make it. Thanks for the great instruction.
I have everything you just used. I can’t wait to make it tomorrow.
You have a soothing voice. I’ve never made my own moisturizer but somehow I ended up on this part of CZcams and now I feel like I’m part of the cult and I must only move forward making my own
Perfect!!! I love to make natural products. That one looks divinely creamy. Thank you so much for the recipe and demo!!!
Looks like simple and easy
Looking forward to trying this.
Sounds absolutely great 👍🤗🔝
Thankyou for you're recipe easy and great
You are welcome! Good luck!
🌷PRECIOUS FACE CREAM : 100 g shea butter, 50 g sweet almond oil, 20 drop of essential oil (optional). Heat the shea butter in a saucepan over a low heat. When it is completely melted and cooled, pour it into a bowl together with the almond oil and essential oil. Mix well with a kitchen whisk (or a teaspoon) and then pour it directly into the jar of your choice, close it and place it in the fridge for an hour, the shea butter will solidify again 💜
Can't wait to try this; my skin has become quite sensitive of late, so this information is great!
Great tutorial, Thank You!😊
Love your videos, this is going to be a fun project for me to do with my granddaughter 💕, she loves making body butters, she has already made a few of her own. I always get something out of your videos to help me become a minimalist and mindful living💕💜 stay blessed🙏
I love this Connie! Ill just have to shake really hard for it to thicken because I don’t want to buy a blender or whisk 😂.
Just made my first batch today and used it after a shower. This is absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing all your ideas and inspiration!
Thank you 😊
Thank you so much!! Have been spending money mindlessly on body creams and we don't even know if it's chemical free!! Going to try it out and will let you know how it turns out.
WOW NICE 👍
Thank you Connie. I plan to try this. What do you use on your face?
I will prepare this lotion for sure

I definitely will try
Very cool!!
I will try this lotion!
My sister introduced me to your recipe, because I have so many fragrance and plant allergies that I basically go without beauty products. This potion feels light and wonderful, and no irritants! :-)
Helpful video thank u
Hi Connie, just love this lotion, Have you got a recipe for a face mosituriser, toner and cleanser
Easy to find ingredients, easy to make, absolutely the best body lotion I’ve ever used! I opted to use orange essential oil. Thank you very much for the recipe.
Thank you 😊❤️🙏
Oh my goodness, I'm watching this early on Thanksgiving morning and could just hug you! I'm really looking forward to trying this recipe. I really enjoyed your video on skin and hair care too. You're lovely and I am thankful you're sharing with us all!
Much love from the Midwest US 💖
Hope you enjoy! It's my favorite!
So I think I may have found a solution to the mixture not whipping and staying liquefied. I had the same problem. Had accidentally left it in the freezer a bit too long to cool and it hardened partially, but it whipped beautifully at first and then turned to liquid a moment beyond that. I had to try a few more attempts and it was messy but I found the right consistency. I actually think the problem is a combination of the blender and melting the butters beforehand. I had to let it harden quite a bit and drizzled a bit of olive oil as I was blending. I think if you're using a powerful blender, try placing all the ingredients in the jar and whipping them together without melting them first or melt the coconut oil only. That's what I plan to do next time. Once you get it right, it is luxurious and worth it. Connie you have taught me so much. My hair and skin feels amazing. Thank you!
Thanks 🙏💕
Thank you for this amazing perfect easy video!! Any videos for natural soap without lye or glycerin?
Or a body wash video without castile soap or glycerin?
Oh, so satisfying! I am afraid I will eat it if I make it.
Hi Connie, thank you for sharing this recipe (and I also like your shampoo recipe in the other vid!). Question, do you use sunscreen on top of this moisturizer?
Hope you continue to make these wonderful videos!!
The link for the coconut oil is actually refined, not unrefined. I’m making the lotion now and can’t wait to try it.
I ran out could not edge for days so I used this recipe
Thank You
Nice, I make a lotion bar, and a body butter. Very simular
Thank you
I do it also for years but I don not use any blender, I make a warm water bath mix the ingredients and let them cool down! P.s. you are most beautiful and really calming spirit!
Ha! She made this look so easy and I followed it to the letter. The disclaimer is that if it won't whip and stays runny it must cool completely. Wrong. "Cooling completely" infers leaving it at room temperature, or refrigerating it until it is cool, which does nothing. It has to be "refrigerated until it is solid again", then broken up into pieces, then whipped with a hand mixer," because the immersion blender is a messy joke. The lotion is oily and it gets on everything during the process, because I had to go from the immersion blender to the hand mixer because it doesn't make it smooth enough with the immersion blender. ANYWAY, after all of that I will say that it turned out bright white and beautifully whipped, but, man, oh man! I like that it is pure, but it is a bit greasy. My discovery is that if I pour the melted blend of ingredients into lip gloss pots and refrigerate them until solid, then those are awesome lip balms. Not minimalist, because of all the ingredients to purchase, the pans and jars, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, but at least it is pure. I am glad that I didn't give up on it.
It’s definitely minimal compared to the ingredients in store bought lotion. Most people already have the kitchen equipment needed.
@@gprincess428 Hand mixer is definitely my go to for whipping butters and you can somewhat reduce the oil ratio to make it less oily. I’d do it in smaller batches so you can gauge the ratios for when you want to do a larger batch. When using less oil in certain amounts it will get much thicker, yet creamy after sitting, so I’d just play around with it. Oh, and when I mix it I put a kitchen towel(any towel) or grocery bag around the top of the bowl in a way to prevent it from sloshing around. Watch out for the covering you choose catching onto the beaters. You can even mix with your finger or a popsicle stick if that’s what you have. And I like to use the container my shea butter comes in then reuse them when I’m making smaller batches and differing ingredients. Less clean up. You’ve got this!!!
I just made it!
Great recipe, I use this all the time. I add one more ingredient, arrowroot powder and this takes away the greasiness. Xxx
Thank you for your recipe! I am excited to make it tomorrow lucky I have those ingredients in my kitchen. I will post my work tomorrow!
Hope you enjoy
Hi Connie
Thank you so much for sharing. Could you please also share your shampoo recipe? I also have grey hair and I am looking for a chemical free shampoo and conditioner that will not affect the color and texture of my hair.
Thanks again!
Nice video
I love your video! You have such a soft, sweet way about you which is very informative and easy to absorb. 😆I'm going to try this recipe, it looks easy enough and I have everything I need......except the cute blue jars. LOL. Thank you for sharing with me. I'm very interested in your other videos as well. It would be a pleasure to like and subscribe to your channel. 🥰
Loving your videos, loving your kindness, sweetness and smartness 🌸 I have tried your recipe with lots of fear because I have started getting eczema on my hands a few months ago. I have tried everything, parfume/paraffin free baby lotions to expensive pharmacy moisturizers... Either I got allergic reactions or didn't moisture enough and I couldn't stop having my eczema worse. Only Vaseline was partly helpful but not enough. I went to doctor and he gave some sort of steroids liquid but it was only helping when I use it. After 2 weeks, I had to stop using steroids and my eczema came up again.
Long in short, your recipe saved my life! No allergic reactions, super moisture and smells amazing. Now I am making my second batch 😊 this time I used less cacao and shea butter less, coconut more to have a softer. Thank you very much ❤️
Made this today. It took a while to get the right temperature for whisking. I put different essential oil combinations in 4 different little pots. My husband was also in the kitchen making chapatis, just wearing shorts and an apron, so instead of wiping my hands on a cloth between making concoctions, I used 4 legs, 4 arms and his shoulders. He said I should make this "stuff" more often! 😅
Wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing your very cute story. I love it!!
Great video first time watching your videos and new subscriber , do you have recipes for lip balm and face moisturizer?
You exude calm, serenity and beautiful health.
OH! Thank you so much!
Good video. What do you use on your face Connie? Thanks!
Thank you for sharing this !
And , I love your energy 💫
Thank you so much!!
You’re welcome✨
Åh thank you ❤❤
This is such a great recipe. I wasn’t able to get it thick the first time I made it so I added some bees wax as an emulsifier. I was able to pour it hot right into my food processor and it thickened right up in about a minute.
Sounds great!
I just found you - you’re absolutely beautiful and I can’t wait to try this and watch your other videos
Welcome! I'm glad you are here.
Wonderful cream. Please create a nice cream for the face🙏🙏🙏
I can’t wait to make this! How long does it last once you make it?
Could you please post oatmeal lotion for eczema??? Thank you .
I’m definitely going to make this. Thank you 🙏🏻 I do make my own body cream with coconut oil, olive oil and avocado oil. But I’d prefer the Shea butter and Cocoa butter for sure. 😉
Hope you like it!
Nice. Show us something for the face
I will try this. Thank you
Hope you enjoy

Looks fantastic connie I went to purchase the products put unfortunately some are not available and may not be available can you please suggest anything else in place of this products many thanks
Th you for this recipe. I'll try it. I hope the ingredients have a long shelf life once the package is opened. It would be heavenly to have a simple recipe for a fragrant body scrub.
Many thanks
Hi Isabelle, The ingredients do have a long shelf life. Great idea for a body scrub video!
I’m excited to try this! Only disclaimer id add is that glass can burst if the temperature changes suddenly like that.
I learned the hard way making homemade candles. 😅 you can lose a lot of work and product 💔
Loved the video!
That's what I was going to say. Best to avoid going from flame to ice.
I will try this!
What ingredients do you suggest as a natural face cream?
Looks amazing❤..may I ask what you use on your face?
Hi Connie! I finally tried this! It took longer than I thought - initially I just let it cool because I wasn’t in a hurry then I did the ice bath, I’m hoping the consistency improves overnight. I will say it smells divine I tried the leftovers from my spoon - lol - thanks for sharing!
Way to go Debbie!
Is this shelf stable?
NB: Peppermint smells and works amazing with cocoa butter.
like a peppermint patty!
Thank you for this recipe! I can’t wait to try it! Is there a shelf life for this cream? I’d like to make some for my daughters for Christmas. Do you know if there is a shelf life for this product? Thanks again. I love your videos.
The shelf life would be what is on the three ingredients. Usually, they last over a year.
I just found your site and as a mother of 4 (still all home), I'm always trying to reinvent the wheel-lol and so love the very relevant content. This has truly been a time for reflection, introspection and re-evaluation! I'm wanting to try this lotion as I'm currently using Living Libations oils for face cleansing and all over post bath moisturizing. They are amazing pure organic blends but can be fairly expensive long term. I am wondering if the organic creamed coconut butter is good for this application, or the Costco organic pure virgin coconut oil-I have both on hand? Thanks and blessings!
Hi! I'm so glad you are part of our community! Raising children, into kind adults is one of the most valuable things any of us can do.
To answer your question: You can use any of the coconut oils you have on hand.
Sending you happiness & peace.
Hi i just sub to your channel because of your home made body lostion i am from pakistan
Hi, would it be ok to double up the shea butter and substitute the cocoa? I'm considering the eucalyptus or maybe a citrus scent, or should I stick with the cocoa😕.. thanks for sharing btw🤗
I made this today, and you are absoulutely correct! It is the best, most luxurious cream I have used. Once it melts in, my skin feels like velvet. I love this. It will be my go-to cream now and this winter. Thank you for sharing! I did put it in the freezer for 8 minutes so it was the perfect consistency to whip. I would love for you to share all of your recipes for hand-made products!
Hi Debbie , yes I put mine in the fridge and it hardened up .
I was so happy !
And I agree , it’s sooooo good , and more recipes Connie , please!
Stay well Girls !
❤️
Hi Debbie, I'm thrilled to hear you made the lotion and enjoy it! Great tip about the freezer.
Thanks for sharing! I will defiantly make future videos with my other handmade items.
I made this and totally agree that it is amazing. It was simple and the end product is the best I have used. I did a little research on the three products used and you should be able to use it on your face if you don’t have acne issue, according to recent research. So far so good on my skin!
Thanks Jane. I'm thrilled that you love it as much as I do.
Really lovely.thanks Connie!what do you use on your face?
I keep it pretty simple.

Have just found your channel and subscribed. This is the 3rd video of yours so far. Thank you for the moisturiser recipe which I will make tomorrow as I already have all these ingredients because I make my own soap. I also make my own deodorant. Loving your videos, they are so interesting; and your presentation manner is lovely. Warm wishes from South Australia. 🐾
Hey Marion! Thanks for subscribing! I'm thrilled you enjoy the videos. I haven't made soap... yet. I have been making deodorant for years. I wonder if our deodorant recipe is similar? Coconut oil and baking soda is what I use.
Happiness and Joy
@@ConnieRiet Hi Connie. In my deodorant I don't use baking soda because I am allergic to it. (gives me a rash) My recipe is 3 tbsp organic coconut oil, 2 tbsp Shea butter, 2 tbsp arrowroot powder, 2 tsp kaolin clay (optional but good) and 15 drops essential oil, more or less as desired. I found using all coconut oil made it melt too much in hot weather. The Shea butter keeps it firmer and also nourishing for skin
@@marionlacey1986 hi there fellow Aussie 😀 I’ve tried natural deodorant before but have a rash for bicarbonate soda, I haven’t heard of the recipe you mentioned I’ll have to give it a go
@@millygit Hi Aussie Michelle. Do try it. I've been making the one I mentioned about 3 times now - gave a pot away and my friend liked it . Twice tried the bicarb method and no good for me re stinging rash 😵. As I said just leave it out 🥰
@@marionlacey1986 thanks for that recipe where do you get the clay
Thank you so much, Connie! I will try this recipe. I’m wondering what you use on your face as a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen…?? 💗
Thanks Jill!

Hi Connie…nice recipe…just a suggestion…add one teaspoon of hexane free castor oil to your recipe. Castor oil is a humectant and, as long as you don’t add more than 1 to 3% to your formulation, it will speed up absorption and extract moisture from the atmosphere and transport it into your skin ….
Great tip! thanks
Connie we need a haircutting and make up video from you! Your gorgeous!
Thanks! Maybe one day!
Does this absorb into skin well leaving non oily/ greasy feel?
There is a way to prevent the clogged pores on the face. Rub a pinky mail amount or less into wet hands in a very thin layer then gently smooth onto the face or warm the same small amount into hands and apply thinly to a freshly washed and wet face.
Thank you for sharing this …. It is gorgeous. Would it work if you omitted the cocoa butter and doubled on the Shea butter? Xx
Yes
I tried this for the first time tonight. It wouldn't get thick so back into the ice bath. My second attempt was after the mixture started to get really thick, but that was not successful either. I am left with a pourable concoction. You made it look so easy.
Hi Mary, It is common for the mixture to not thicken if warm. I hope that after it sat for a bit it thickened for you. If you try again, put it in the refrigerator for a bit before mixing.
Best of luck!
I have the same problem
I just made this body cream last night when I filled my jars the cream was really light and fluffy but when I went to use it today after my shower it was a little hard and not as easy to scoop out. Is there anything I can do it to make it stay more fluffy and creamy?
can you use it ffor hands as well
