The original Sonic the Hedgehog rom was not revised to run at the correct speed for the 50hz PAL regions, so that is probably why it seems slow. It is the same with the original Sonic the Hedgehog cartridge on a real Mega Drive.

The music is slow because the console is set to PAL 50Hz. You can easily mod it to NTSC 60Hz by adding a solder bridge between 2 jumpers:

Also it only includes the first 5 games in the menu; the rest are repeats.
There is also another version of this clone that has a built-in SD card reader to play roms.

Possible the Sonic version is the EU version. Only runs at 50hz so they actually slowed the whole game from 60hz instead of changing the code. They partially sped it up for Sonic 2, but I think Sonic 3 was the first full-speed Sonic game in Europe if I recall.
The company responsable for SEGA in Brazil launched a new version of Mega Drive, pretty cool work. And I read the secret message, love the channel.

You need a better clone. Try searching Mega Drive 3 by Songa. It has much sharper picture than original MDII and especially Model 1 Genesis, far less audio buzz and the possibility to mod - switch it to 60Hz permanently or install a switch.
nothing beats the original 6 button controllers , awesome dpad , i wish it would have included triggers like the snes but still have 6 face buttons.

About as insipid as the AtGames versions (but AtGames' clones are officially licensed).
Sonic 1 runs so slow because there is no way this "console" has blast processing like the original.

On Ebay, I got the model that has a mini SD card on the front of the box. This one has a slot on the side for a mini SD card and the console itself has some cool built in games like Top Gear 2, Sonic 2, Sunset Riders, TMNT Hyperstone Heist, etc. To access the menu, leave the cart slot empty and power on the console. At the bottom of the screen, there will be an option to choose SD card and after that, it goes to a typical multi cart screen and you select the game and it starts up. It is 2 gigs and it has 99% of the library on it from Argh Real Monsters all the way to Zombies Ate My Neighbors. I paid $60 for it and since a few great games weren't on the SD card, I bought them off Ebay. They were Gain Ground, Alien Storm, Altered Beast, and my favorite Sega game of all time, Streets of Rage 2. My fiance and I have played it quite a bit and I'm very happy with it. I would have hated it if I got this version.

The Retro Future. It's worth it definitely and the sound quality as you saw in Stryder is very good for a Sega clone console. Some of the sounds are off like the first few levels of Streets of Rage 2, Sonic, Comix Zone, Tmnt Hyperstone Heist, etc. Yet for most games like Gain Ground, Top Gear 2, Altered Beast, Alien Storm, and Sonic 2, the sound is spot on. Even if the sound is off, there is no lag during gameplay and so I don't mind at all.
I was surprised that it played Castlevania Bloodlines perfectly. The only downside is that it doesn't recognize Contra Hard Corps very well, it must be because of the unique chip of that game. You'll notice that the opening scene with the van is invisible immediately.
Is you strider game PAL or NTSC? Do you think it would play both?

The Retro Future No problem. By the way if you were wondering the megadrive is so light because it only has a few small chips in it. The games on the system are also just the same game over and over again.

I'm curious, it seems like there are far more bootlegs and multicarts made for Nintendo consoles then Sega consoles yet I feel like the Genesis/Mega Drive has a larger homebrew scene compared to the SNES. Why is that?
I think this is because Super Nintendo was less bootlegged. In our country, for example, SNES costed 500 000 rub back in the 90s. While Genesis is very easily cloned and largely sold

I own a Super Famicom, so I'm used to it. (the controller cables for that are about half a metre, maybe a whole metre at best... - japanese systems don't seem to use long cables... I guess the expectation there is you're sitting next to the console, not across the room from it.)

RGB there are two links in the description, first is "Gearbest" and leads to landing page, second is "fake Genesis".
This would make a good console for taking on a work trip or something like that then if got damaged or stolen along the way no real loss but still good enough to have a game or two on if your away from home for a week also good if you like to get drunk and game if you spill beer on it who cares

Fake indeed but plays cartridges of all regions pretty well. If modificate it, so that little thing could transform like an original console.

He meant the slower music. He said that everything felt slower and that's exactly how sonic 1 felt for europeans because the port wasn't properly optimised for 50hz contries so it runs 5/6th of the speed of the original game and the music speed is also slower.
useless here, you can easily get an original genesis/megadrive 1 or 2 for the same price (a loose console) or for a little extra money a console with controller and cables. Maybe in some Asian (not japan) or ex-Soviet countries it is easier to have this one than the original because at the time they were not imported and therefore they are difficult to find
