Great video. It surprised me how much grap got burned off while doing this. For sure a step not to forget 🔥🔥👍

Thanks for the video. Was hoping you might’ve mentioned at end of video if you need to clean out Firepot of ash after seasoning it. Or can I start it up later to cook food after burn off? What did you do?

Noooooo! That only burns off warehouse juice! (Oils) you must use canola spray or whatever cooking spray you choose (I do duck fat spray) then spray entire insides, crates and everything, then set heat at 400 for at least 1 hour! I'm a competition bbq cook, and we all learned this at bbq school 101

    • @TheDawgfan89

@@jessegarcia9959 No, imo this is how you should do it. After you get your new grill full of charcoal or pellets and get it started, close the top, and leave it alone for an hour at least, at 400 degrees. Then the very next time you start your grill, spray the entire inside of it, crates and all, with canola spray, then get it to 400 degrees for an hour again. Warning: if you are using a pellet grill, do not spray where the pellets are being burned.

The book says remove grates and interior stuff first, before seasoning. Which is it?

Hes not really "Seasoning" the grill. Its more burning off manufacturing oils and greases. I would think of after doing this, spray the inside with a spray cooking oil and cook for an hour or so. you might want to check directions that came with it or check more videos.

    • @krisshirley7508

No just you need to wipe everything down with vegetable oil or canola oil your choice. Keeps it from rusting.

    • @Majorballer21

Not sure if you found out by now. But you fill the holder up and the system knows how much to use based on the heat. It’s a feeder system. You will use no where near what he put in. But just to fill it originally so it has fuel.

If the pellet hopper is low to the point of empty it can catch fire. So it's a good idea to just keep it mostly full when using
