- My beautiful German Shepherd dog, Molly left for the Rainbow Bridge.
She was always by my side, and her loss has hit us all hard here at the homestead.
This video is a tribute to her. She will always be forever in our hearts here at Tater Town.

16 years is old for a German Shepherd. They usually do not live that long. I am sorry for your loss. They are wonderful dogs, so smart and aware.
They are wonderful dogs, and yes, evev her vet was amazed at her longevity!
@@ReneeWahlsTaterTownI live in Vegas,but before I moved to the U.S,I lived in England...Now for yrs,I owned a GSd& one of my sisters was a little interested ( she new he pretty much accompanied me most places,i could walk him off the leash in London)but I didn't think she was to intrigued& anyway one day she tells me to accompany her somewhere on a early Sat Morn.( it was to a GSd breeder) So off we went,saw 5 or 6 beautiful Pups,the Mom and the owners were fine& we left with 2! ( 2 long haired Pups,a Gold& Black female and Jet Black Male)
So I ended up staying with her while I rented my Apt out,before I was meant to be leaving on my adventures!
But because my Sister lacked experience,I ended staying for16mnths!!
.Every day,taking them out,teaching them to get used to other Dogs&learn how to behave on some long hikes ( maybe for a few hrs) it was a wonderful ( hard work) time!
.But in 2004,when I was back over there, her Male's Stomach turned& twisted and his Spleen burst! ..He was in Surgery at night& then it was case of how will he pull through & Recover after such an serious Surgery? Well he didn't!
I was at the Airport& supposed to be traveling to Spain ( with family) for an break,well I missed one Flight& then missed the nxt one ( i wanted to see how he was doing) & help out!
Anyway i stated in the UK & went with her to the Vet& seeing this Handsome dark shape on the table ( lifeless) really upset me( it f##ked me up) and I have to say I'm not the most emotional of people,but that certainly did a number on me!
Anyway sorry for my verbose message,but I just wanted to let u know,u certainly are not alone,the Animal's bring immense energy to ur homes& become part of ur life!
And even though I grew up in a big City,my parents were raised on farms in Kerry,Ireand🇨🇮☘️&my mom was often talking about the Animals she grew up with,Dairy Cows,Sheep a Pony,Chickens and Cats & Sheep Dogs!
..So I suppose it was always in my DNA!

@@ReneeWahlsTaterTown Thank u for responding& much apologies,I got a little carried away..And I failed to mention,after a 2 months had passed,u saw a complete transformation over the Sister ( from always racing around like crazed banshee over the fields,she wouldn't do anything& just sit nxt to u ( And I'm not exaggerating these two Dogs were some of the fastest GSd u were likely to see,they once chased& played with a Greyhound& they both stayed close!)
So I convinced my Sister,that she needed to get another Pup,because the female was so depressed!
Anyway we did & once again we got 2 pups& they got along within meeting her in 10 mins of being introduced in the Garden ( My Sister was nervous,but I knew it would work out).THE END👍☘️🇨🇮

Nothing Harder than losing your best friend. Dogs never lose their innocence. They can never be replaced, but there is always the need to save another precious pup. I can't wait to see my dogs in Heaven, when I get there.

I actually understand. I’ve suffered no greater loss than when my dog, Oscar, passed away on 11/10/13. I moved out of my house because I couldn’t live there without Oscar. Not one day has gone by when he wasn’t on my mind. His grave says “The love of my life”. I visit him every November and place flowers on his grave. He took a piece of my heart to Heaven with him and I’ll never get over him. I get it.

Molly was so beautiful. I have had five German Shepherds so I know your pain. I called all of mine "my velcro dog". The one I have now not only follows me into the bathroom but lays with his head in the shower so he can watch over me. You gave her a wonderful life and someday you will be with her again.

Lost my baby boy Cat Mr Malada Dec 12/07/11 and still in 2024 i sit at my dining room table and just cry so hard missing my sweet boy. The pain doesn't go away ever. We are blessed to have them and cherish every moment ❤❤

Molly knew how well loved she was by u & your hubby. RIP Molly. Putting our dogs under euthanasia is a very difficult & painful decision for every dog owner especially those that are treated as a member of your family. I had to euthanise my golden retriever at 12+ yrs old when her hind legs suddenly caved in one day. No longer could she stand, walk , pee & poo .Vet told us not to prolong her suffering by consoling us that our dog knows how much we love her & she has led a very wonderful life under our care. We still miss our Elsha 😢.
I'm so sorry for your loss of Elsha, Elaine. We do the very best we can, but it still hurts. But I do believe they know how much we loved and cared for them, and I hope that gives us all a little comfort during the hard times 💕
My white shepherd lived to be 16yrs afterwards, I said to my vet I don’t know how to go home without her. I am sorry for your loss ♥️

I also had a white German Shepherd, they are such smart and loyal dogs. I still miss him now even after 7 years since he passed 😢 I have a West Highland Terrier and he is 12 😊

I lost my Lucy my mini Akita dog at the age of 11 last November she passed away from cancer in my arms and I always miss her. Molly and Lucy are playing together in doggy heaven over the rainbow bridge. One day we will be with them again.

I am so sorry for your loss. My wife and I are just starting our journey with our little fury friends. We have two 8-month-old Belgian Malinois puppies, brother and sister. Malo is the boy, and I should have named him Velcro. He is my little shadow and I feel blessed that we are bonding this way. The little girl is my wife's shadow 🙂

R.I.P. I know these feelings, I felt them on my own when my beloved passed away almost 6 years ago (after carrying him for 18 years and 5 months). I wasn't anymore the same person, I was crushed, couldn't stop crying, looking for him in the house ... I could hold only 4 days and decided to get the same dog just to remember the old one. A dog is like a kid, is family. There is no other creature on Earth better than the doggo; the only time a dog hurts you is when he passes away. "I would give everything I own to be able to keep my dog forever".
I completely agree, I wish they lived forever. But, in a sense, they do, in our hearts. Thank you so much for sharing this with me 🧡

My heart goes out to you! We've lost many kitties and dogs over the years, but the Big dogs seem the hardest to say goodbye to! Lost a Newfie- Boxer 10 yrs ago . I had dug a place for him 3 months before he passes, knowing time was near. 11pm one night he started to get up and fell back down. Clearly had a stroke or heart attack. Laid him on the sofa, woke @ 5AM to check on him, hegot up on his own, we walked out the patio door, he led ME down thru the yard ,70 yes. To the edge of woods where I had made his place. He sniffed all around it, Never paid any attention to it B4. He turned back towards the house, and in the full moon light led me back up to the patio n into the house. I Laid him on the sofa knowing this was his Last act. 130 lbs at his prime, 12 yrs , still miss him😢.
7 months ago our neighbor who rases Shepherds, gave us a Shepherd pup. She is truly VELCRO. What an amazing feeling to have her SO LOVE ME! I know we are in for great pain in years to come, but better to have loved and lost her than to not have had her love at all! Pets are God's creations to teach us love I believe.
oh, what a heartbreaking story, I'm so sorry for your loss, but I appreciate you sharing that with me. You are so right in that it is better to have the love and memories than none at all. But it's still so painful.

I keep reminding myself how blessed I've been to have my two boys share their lives with me. They seem to be in a race to the finish line - the end of the trail. One (Aussie/Border Collie, Lab), nearly 12, has a type of soft tissue sarcoma that was diagnosed in July 2023. Prior to that, in January 2023, he was diagnosed with early kidney disease. He was given about a year to live. We didn't pursue chemo. I'm giving him certain supplements, and so far he continues to do okay. I don't know if he will suddenly begin a quick decline, or if it will be slow, but so far, if I didn't already know he had cancer, I wouldn't know he has cancer. He still enjoys life, and we love having him in our lives, but it's hard. My other boy (Aussie) just turned 10. He has a lot of weakness in his hips and is having an increasing amount of difficulty getting up. I can't allow him to negotiate stairs as of the past week. I am almost exclusively leash-walking him, and he's struggling with the couple of steps he has to deal with on the front of our home now. Last week, he went down the basement stairs to go outside at night, but he couldn't make it up the first step and face-planted. I tried to assist him with a sling, but he won't walk with the sling. Thankfully I was able to get him back into the house on the main level that night, but it was an ordeal. The last time the vet saw him, she suggested he could have a canine form of Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). Whether it's that or just the breakdown of his hips, the time is probably coming soon when he can't get up anymore, and we'll have to make that last vet appointment. I could lose either or both any time, at this point. It's a situation where you try to live in gratitude and appreciation of the moments now and all of the ones before, but anticipatory grief creeps in when the one with cancer coughs once in a while, or when I see the other struggling to get up. I find that particularly with my Aussies, by the time they get to be about 6 years old, there is such a connection that is hard to describe. It's like they are a part of you.
I think each of you felt a similar bond with your animals. If we didn't have that and love them so much, and know how much they love us and live for us, it wouldn't hurt so much to let them go. Try to focus on the good times you had with gratitude for the fact that you were the person (or yours was the family) that was blessed to share the life of the sweet fur-covered soul who has brought joy, laughter, and probably some frustration, on occasion, into your life. They truly are one of life's special gifts.
I'm so sorry, Charm. It is so difficult when they start to lose mobility, mostly for the safety factor. They still want to do the things they could before, and I understand that. But it can be scary to think they could hurt themselves even more. And I'm so sorry about your boy with cancer. You are doing an amazing job taking care of them, and your babies definitely know it. Sending you peace my friend 💕

I am so sorry. I know your heart is broken. She was beautiful! It helped me to write daily letters in a journal to my Scottie. He passed just three weeks ago. I write to him everyday, sometimes a couple of times a day. I tell him how much we love and miss him and how happy he made us. I let him know what’s going on. We also buried him where I can see his spot everyday. So try writing letters to Molly. It will help the sadness in your heart. Take care, I know how painful it is.

I'm sorry for your loss I currently have a 11yr old GSD she's showing her age she was also a rescue for my husband and I she is our 2nd one together my other one was a rescue from Tulsa she was so badly abused it took me years to fix her .and she made it to 13 .god bless her .and now we are seeing the old age set in with our beloved Ginger .she is kind sweet all our neighbors love her the kids call her princess Ginger .I know the feeling I can't shower I can't go to the bathroom I can't go downstairs she's right by my side it's going to be painful it's the worst thing in the world to lose your best friend and companion.god bless Molly R.I.P

Exactly one year ago today, we put to rest our Becky, an Australian Sheppard. She passed at the age of 16y7weeks. I would call her "my love child", because she would sit in front of me, look up with those beautiful eyes of hers and remind me of the pure innocence of a 2 or 3 yo child. She was the purest soul to walk this earth 4 legged and 2 included. We have since adopted another rescue, Sora, 3yo Golden R, to keep Bailey, an 8yo Golden R, company, and so on. Becky was also a rescue, just like Kiwi, another Golden R we rescued at age 3yo. You will never forget, you will hurt for a long time, but get another to continue the love and profound pleasure they give us. My condolences. Dave & The Girls

🐕🐾🐕My GS was adopted from doggy death row at age 1. They advised me that the dog would never socialize. I met her for about 5 minutes, signed forms and they handed me a leash (I never had a dog before). I opened my car door and she jumped right into the drivers seat and was ready to go!!
Fast forward 8 years, and my “Willa” has been the best every day!! We did some training together with TADSAW (train a dog save a warrior) as we learned each other. But, she is naturally so intelligent that she was very easy to communicate to. She definitely is protective of her territory!
She suddenly had paralysis in her back legs Nov 2023 and it looks to be IVDD. I was told she would not recover and I would just be hospice to her. Basically, they were suggesting to put her to sleep. I took Willa home and let her rest for the next 5 weeks. I used a sling to help get up and walk and take her potty. I kept her comfortable to left the spine heal some and inflammation go down, but my Willa wants to maintain her routine! We took things slow and changed things at home to make it easier. I even moved to sleep on the couch (she can’t get on the bed, and I don’t want her to try) so she isn’t alone. It’s best I’m with her at night in case she needs out, I’m right here. Now, she can walk, she potty’s outside alone, and her back paws 🐾 rarely have any knuckling. She is wobbly but getting around. Her will is very strong! I do give her some pain medicine and natural dog hemp every day. I also make homemade dog food with best ingredients like organic ground Turkey, organic ginger, bone broth, cooked together with organic oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and other natural healing good ingredients. I believe the diet is key to healing.
Reality is her condition has no cure, but she has made stunning progress and I switched to an old school type vet to help us on this journey. I will give her the best dog days possible for as much time as we have! She would NEVER give up on me, nor I her. 💜💜love them for the time we are blessed to have them.
Wow, Ezma, you are doing an amazing job with Willa. It is a huge task when our dogs are immobile, but I would (and did) do the exact same thing. And I agree completely about their diet. Food is medicine!

My Rhodesian Ridgeback Pitbull mix fur baby of 15 years cross the Rainbow Bridge 9 months ago and it's so hard everyday. My heart is shattered, nothing seems normal anymore, she was my soulmate , my best friend. I cry I don't know how many times a day. I didn't really think I could ever be this sad. My eyes have dark circles around them from crying so much and wiping my eyes so much. I know the pain and the loss will never stop. My heart goes out to all you people who lost their fur babies too. As hard as it is to have to say the final "goodbye" to our fur babies, and to go through the pain and heartache of grieving for them after they are gone, the blessing is that our hearts expand to love again. It can take a long time to heal from the loss, but often I've found that a new life can help with the healing. They don't take the place of the one who is no longer physically there, but they can blunt the pain of loss for those who feel ready to welcome a new furry member into the family. Some people are ready sooner than others. Some people need more time. But the good thing is that our hearts are able to expand and hold more love.

At 16, Molly was really ancient for a GSD. She really loved you and held on until she just had to go. Her final gift to you was that you didn't have to make that last trip to the vet. I'm glad she brought you so much joy in life, and I'm glad you also have found a sense of peace in knowing she will always be there guarding the chickens. ❤

I had a Golden Shepherd, I adopted back in 2011, he was 5 or 6 when I got him. Marley was the smartest and most loving dog I have ever owned, the germy came out when to protect and the long hair retriever came out for hugs, loves and treats. he passedn 12-23-21. Amber is our five year old black and sable GS, she came to us as a rescue from a kennel home.
She was once attacked by a pack of dogs so as a result Amber has acute anxiety issues. Amber is very mischievous, funny, affectionate and highly protective of us. Amber is everything to us and comes with us everywhere we go on holidays and days out. We absolutely love her to bits and could not think of life without her.

My beautiful boy, Bruce, had to leave me due to cancer at the young age of just 7 on Valentine’s Day. I tried everything to help him and I did manage to extend his life. I miss him so much. I still feel his paw on my heart.

My wife and I lost our sweet boy Champ, a pitbull rescue on Valentine's Day.. We rescued him when he was 4 and he died at the age of 13. I called my wife while she was at work and told her she needed to come home because he wasn't doing well. She came home and within 10 minutes of her being home he passed away in her lap. We cried like one of our kids had passed away. I didn't cry this much when my father passed away and I loved my father. It has been difficult to say the least. I told my wife Champ picked the best day to say goodbye to us. He passed away on a day that millions around the world were celebrating love and champ was love. He brought a tremendous amount of unconditional love to our family and now we have a special day we get to celebrate him every year on a day of love. RIP to your sweet baby Molly!

She gets up very early in the morning before I leave for work and has coffee with me. Sometimes I feel as humans we are not deserving of these incredible animals.
