Horror is probably my favourite genre, despite the fact 95% of horror films suck. It's such a hard genre to get right, but when they get it right you usually have a classic on your hands.
Lois Degeneffe I must be in the minority that actually likes Exorcist II. Hell I’ll watch it over the original. I don’t think it’s that bad of a movie, in fact I think a lot of the things people criticize the movie for, actually work in its favor.
@@Prof_Tickles92 I liked the whole concept of the world conscious mind that has only become increasingly more relevant with the internet. All these stupid marches of solidarity sort of remind me of dumb insects, pink dunce caps and all. Also, the synchronizer was an interesting idea. This guy says it's going into someone else's dream, but it's actually going into someone else's past memory. Some of the acting in it is really bad though and some of the sequences remind me of an Ed Wood movie, like all the cattle running and weird aerial shots with the demon screaming. It is certainly a confusing movie. As Louise Fletcher's character at the end says, "Regan, I understand now . . . But the world won't, not yet!" I'm sure many agreed with that and obviously still do. That movie was a major stain on Linda Blair's career as it pretty ended her being in major motion pictures.

I was 9 years old when "The Heretic " opened. After being terrified by the imagery that my mother described in "The Exorcist" from 1974-1977, I was pleasantly relieved that "The Heretic " was basically a science fiction/fantasy film.
@Mourning Star The image of the Exorcist really haunted her movie career. She had some success. But nothing could ever live up to the expectations of that movie. That was her pinnacle.
I watched Exorcist a few times on tv as a kid, and had Exorcist 3 on VHS, I was always thinking about what the 2nd one might be like, I imagined it being horrifying and being nearly unreachable as I never saw it in any video rental stores, because of it being banned or something.. then I found out the truth when the internet became a thing, what a disappointment that was.
How many times is Brad Dourif going to play a role where he's in the body of someone else or vice versa? Exorcist 3, the Chucky Series, that X-files episode where he channels the dead through himself... Also George C. Scott from 'The Changeling'! Now that movie is fucking great!
So the director of The Exorcist II didn't like the original film huh? How ironic for the director to say that, considering people didn't like his shitty sequel of The Exorcist lol xD I wonder how he feels about that
@@troyandrew6154 most people with half a brain hate it, I only watch it because of how bad it is. So bad it's laughable..... But on the bright side at least it's not as bad a sequel as Jaws: The Revenge was.
I never realized until now I have watched Monster Madness every year for at least the past 5 years or so, it's become a sort of a Halloween tradition at this point.
I've seen the original Exorcist numerous times and every time I watch it the movie gets better each time. Because I always find something new to appreciate about it. The Exorcist 2 The Heretic I only saw once when I was a kid back in the 80's on TV on a Saturday afternoon and it confused the living shit out of me and I didn't understand it at all it was too weird even for me. I have never seen The Exorcist 3 but I'm intrigued by it because from what I heard about it the movie seemed interesting and I would like to check it out.
Brad Dourif had a character in an episode of X Files, and they are pretty much the same character. Is there any connection? maybe they were filming at the same time?
Silence of the Lambs is technically the most celebrated horror film. It won ALL the top Academy Awards (Picture, Actor, Actress, Screenplay, and Director)
I thoroughly enjoyed The Exorcist III. George C. Scott and Brad Doriff are great. I think it could be one of those movies that gets better with repeat viewings as initially you're expecting something along the lines of the original. But was you realise it's not what it is you can enjoy it for what it is. Under rated Sequel imo
Those shots from around Georgetown are so odd to me, because I commute through Georgetown every day. That view of the Potomac from the beginning with the Georgetown University Crew Team practicing? I see that every day this time of year. It's so weird to see all those places as they were in 1990.
There's an alternate cut of Exorcist III which is worth checking out and I would have liked to have heard your thought on the two Prequel movies made at the same time, both using a lot of the same footage! :D
Good reviews! But I was surprised that you never mentioned that the detective in Exorcist III is the same detective from the original movie that was investigating Burt Denning's death and asks for an autograph from Reagan's mother.
I just watched Exorcist III today, and while it may be a dull, the best part about it is Brad Dourif as the Gemini killer and also contain one of the best jump-scares ever executed in horror film. I can agree that Brad Dourif definitely saves the movie!
The director's cut of Exorcist III is fantastic. It never switches over to the original actor of the priest from the original, and it flows very well. No exorcism either, and I think it's better for it.
Hey huge fan of the channel, I was wondering if you could do the Child's Play series, I've been a huge fan of that series for some time and I think it would be cool for it to be on Monster Madness. Thanks for listening and have a nice day.
