Chiang Mai is a province in northern Thailand known for its rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and vibrant city life.
Chiang Mai, often referred to as the "Rose of the North," was founded in 1296 and served as the capital of the Lanna Kingdom. Its name means "New City" as it succeeded Chiang Rai as the capital.
The province is home to numerous temples, including Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, one of the most revered Buddhist temples in Thailand, perched on a mountain overlooking the city.
The city is surrounded by mountains and lush countryside. The Doi Inthanon National Park, home to Thailand’s highest peak, offers waterfalls, nature trails, and a cool climate.
The area offers numerous outdoor activities, including trekking, zip-lining, and river rafting. The surrounding mountains and forests provide ample opportunities for adventure enthusiasts.
