The RIGHT WAY To Morph Shapes In After Effects | Fix Bad Morphing

- Hey all, in this video I'll show you how to properly morph 2 (or more) shapes into each other in After Effects and how to fix a common mistake and problem that is widely used by beginners. We will have to take into consideration two aspects if we want to obtain a smooth and natural morphing so we have to morph the objects the right way.
First of all, we have to make sure that the path of both shapes is going in the same direction. For that, right-click on the path in each shape and select Reset.
The second thing we have to do is to put the first point of both shapes in the same spot. We can figure out which is the first point by paying attention on the points of the path. The first point (or the first vertex) is looking a bit different than the other points. If you want to make a point to be the first one, select that point with the selection tool, right-click on it, go to MASK AND SHAPE PATH and then select SET FIRST VERTEX.
And that's all! The morphing should feel natural and smooth, without having overlapping points.

Guys, I finally found a new method that works with any shape not just with a rectangular one. Check it out here -> czcams.com/video/ncrzFXAxcw0/video.html
You´re a God among humans, I´ve watched at least 15 tutorials before finding this one, none of them mentioning "Set as first vertex" which solved everything for me
I'm really happy that it works for you😎. Also thanks for the subscribe, it means a lot✌
Im trying to morph a circle to an S but when I try to reset the path of the circle it's transforming to a rectangle!!! Can you help a bit...
Bro hands down! one of the best tutorials on the internet! thanks A TON!
Thanks a lot man, I'm really glad it helped you 🙌
Amazing video! Your tutorials are very helpful 🔥🔥
Happy to hear that!✌️
Thanks for the tutorial. Nice and clean explanations. Subbed!
Glad you enjoyed, thank you!
Thanks, Set vertex did it for me.
Hi Alexander. Thanks for this great tutorial.
I'm not a professional, I'm doing this just to learn something new. I'm trying to morph a word from one font to another:
Roboto Mono --> Dancing Script.
I fixed a part of the "bad morphing" by setting the "first vortex" as you described, but it feels like I need to set more points on the path.
If you morph the letter "t" you will see what I mean. :)
Best, the second one really helpful

Thanks for everything 😌
You're welcome 😊
GREAT VIDEO !
I'm glad you like it 🙌
Thank you!!!
Anytime ✌️
Good job
Thank you Dan!
Hi! Thanks for the tutorial. But when I hit "reset" the shape turns into a rectangle. Any clues on why is this happening? Thanks so much!
I actually noticed that couple of times and I'm still trying to figure out how to solve this but so far I have nothing...
@@aksndrv thank you! I've also noticed that if you click on the arrows next to "path 1" it changes the direction too!
@@pilarsabogal2 that's really helpful, thanks for the info
Hi! Have you figured it out yet? I have the same problem. If I hit "reset", the shape turns into a rectangle, which is not I want. In the tutorial, his shape was originally a rectangle, but mine is not. If I use the arrow icon next to "path1", it actually reverses the path at every single frame. The paths at the two keyframes are still like...one is clockwise, the other is the opposite, So it won't do any good.
@@rarapuff7547 I still can't find a solution to this and it drives me crazy man
Yo, this is fire! Ty man
Bryan Zavala thx man, glad it helped!✌️
You should change the title, obviously this is not the right way to do it unless you're using a rectangle when reset
You're right, I've noticed that this method works only when using a rectangle so I'm working now on a solution, hope to find one soon. Sorry for the misleading title.
