After Effects Tutorial: MORPH WORDS Into Other Words - Motion Graphics Transition
Vložit
- čas přidán 22. 01. 2017
- In this After Effects Tutorial, create a word morph transition. Unlike other tutorials, we take full words and morph them into other words within a sequence. The goal is to know what your largest word is ahead of time. We will use shape layer motion graphics to morph each word into the next. Make sure to look at each of the paths in your shape layers and copy them accordingly. Use this After Effects tutorial to create a transition that will morph words into other words!

Man, Josh, you're the man. I've watched a slew of your videos and they're all sooo helpful and so well explained. Thanks so much for sharing all your tips and tricks with us. We all really appreciate it. Cheers to Sonduck!!
Tip to speed up this workflow: At 1:42, instead of maximizing "Contents" and then each "O" and "O" individually, hold Command on Mac (Control on Windows) while maximizing "Contents". This will maximize "Contents" and maximize all attributes/properties completely. You can then quickly add the two keyframes for an "O", minimize that "O", and repeat with the next "O"s.
Question: What are "attributes/properties" formally called? I'm not sure...
Anyways, thanks for the tutorial! It was really helpful. Subscribed.
once again, SONDUCK made my day and solved my problem! 😅 Big shout out and greetings from Tirol/Austria
Nice Tutorial man!
Simple and easy
For those having the "filled in letter" issue when pasting, you have to keep the outer and inner paths consistent for this task to work. For example if you're morphing an "o" to an "e", copy the OUTER paths of the "e" and paste it to the OUTER paths of the "o", then copy the INNER paths of the "e" and paste it to the INNER paths of the "o". Oh and to know what path you currently have selected, each point of the path will become squares when selected.
how did you solve that problem?
but what if you need to copy 2 paths in 1 e.g: "o" has two paths and an "n" only has one?
Wow - a three-year old tutorial saves my butt ! Nice! Thanks for this - exactly what I needed !
Hi Sonduck, thanks for this tutorial ! is there an other technic to smooth transition between letters ? Because morphing looks a bit too much rude / sharpen. Thank you !
great video, thank you!
great tut - thank you!
Loved it! Thanks!
czcams.com/video/bcf1wSYBLSc/video.html my first motion graphics video must watch
Thanks a lot dude!
Thank you!
what if i want to do custom lettering in illustrator and morph those in AE? what convert options would i have to use?
Thanks, top stuff.
Nice tutorial.
Hi, your guide is easy to understand. Do you have any videos or else can you make a video tutorial to convert from any word to a shape? (eg: the word "EARTH" transforms into an earth shape)
thanks!
This is so helpful, thank you!. I've learned a lot from this video. Did you know that "B" has the most paths? I was trying to animate the word "ABBA" and it was challenging, had to start from the beginning again, lol
Thanks.
That was hard but it was worth it!
This video in a nut shell :D
Copy path, paste path...
HAHA!
In AE 2020, Create Mask is under a menu named Create!
is there a way to have them collapse in on themselves, in the same way that they transition to different letters, but instead just to nothingness?
How do you make a transform effect like Westwood Studios logo > Proudly presents like their old RA2 intro logo?
Cool...
How do you make views just the property path in the layers?
Hi. Don't you have easier way now(2020) than this(2017) ?
nice tutorial thx! i have problems with the fill of the path, for example on the letters B and O. It seems like it transfers the white fill from the previous letter, but i don't want the rooms in the B filled. How can I avoid this problem? thanks!
Did you solved?
you should consider the posting the project files next time around
When I [Create > Shape from Text], AE doesn't separate the empty spaces of my capital 'O's or 'R's, it renders the shape as a solid circle for the O and a filled in space for the R. Is there a way to manually separate? I figured it was just the specific font I was using, but I've tried it on multiple.
Never mind, I figured out a solution. In fact, your Morph Logos video made me think of it, so thank you.
Would this still work if the words are vector ai files?
This doesn't smoothly work with some letters. Also, I have a few letters that I don't end up using in the end. I even try to morph them into another sets of O's...they do morph, the end result is a letter or two sporadically moving around the comp, and landing somewhere completely different. How the crap do I get text to morph into each successfully :(
How do I morph the same letter? I know it doesnt make sense, but is there a way to fake the morph?
is there a tutorial teaching how to do text reveal like the logo of your channel? very cool and elegant
yes i want that one
looks like a nice result but I'm not sure the technique is worth it specially when you need to use a template for different words every week etc. Thanks for showing the technique though, it's good to know
@sonduckfilm When my letters morph they don't go to the center like yours do, they align to the left...any suggestion on how to fix that?
anchor point? (Y)
@@kaynakdonmez1288 No, anchor point doesn't fix it. I ended up aligning the results. But yeah, it initially sticks to the left.
@@pavel.suchkov it should fix it, I know saying this doesnt help bt. AS far as my decade long experience with AE goes, the scale is centered on Anchor Point. You can do this with shapes, texts etc.. If it really doesnt work I couldnt think of anything else taht would help.
amo tu musica de entrada :3 ,
I know I'm kinda late but, I have problem when I copy the path the letter changes but it the position doesnt
same
@@_nitin_69 Anyone figure this out?
I realized O doesn't work for letters like B so I had to replace those with 8 or just B because it's hard to morph O or 0 to the letter B.
What if you have to use "B" ? It'd be a total of 3 paths (outline + 2 circles). What do we do then?
I think you just duplicate it thats what I did
@@user-rn9if1ut4f yep that solves everything thanks
Late to the party here but if you morph your last word into your first word again you have a cool little gif for... whatever you use gifs for
I have to transform a B to a D + 7 letters 23 Letters word into a 11 letters word and it doesnt seem to work. Any tips?
i think it is better to use B
Good video, but I don't understand why doing the beginning part with 00000?
trust me there is a reason and the reason is that you have tow deferent words and the one is biger
Does anyone know how to morph the 'B' which has three paths?
add another path to his O
Do it with the "b" not with "o".
The "b" has 3 paths so if you want to morph something within "b" you need 2 paths.
u mean "B" , right ? small "b" 2 paths !
Wish I'd seen this comment before getting halfway through...
I tried it this way because I had 8s and Bs, but it resulted in my letters with two paths being filled in. Like the O ended up being just a filled-in circle.
You can use Bs instead of Os.
Man i hate the letter "B" Now
Did anyone found a solution for this?
@@PratikBagaria Go check out School of Motion's video "Morphing Letters in After Effects" he goes over how to morph from or to a "B" which has 3 paths
do someone have a tutorial to morph a picture into words??
My morfed letters become very small. How to fix it?
why the word like D and A, after i paste it, the hole is filled?
wow same problem.. can @sonduckfilm explain this?
I have a problem with letter B beacuse it have 3 pats
wait, you morph o with o?
This effect has given me a newfound anxiety for letters with holes.
and what happens with B or 8 that have 3 paths?
DEMA95K use BBBB instead of OOOO, for anyone still wondering about this👆
@@derpmahoy3510 wow thank you !!!!
Dose anyone else have the problem of words filling in?
6 PATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2:26 / 8:44 sounds like g you or something random lol could you please do with subs
'B' has 3 paths.
2:14 I wish there was a shortcut for that :(
you can use the search bar right above the time line on the left to search for the word path, then key frame the necessary ones. it's not a one button fix but it will save some time.
thanks a lot i didnt know that
How can i morph a picture to text? im so confused
For everyone having issues with multiple paths checkout this video czcams.com/video/CnPWO4wala0/video.html. It explains how you can simply add a path without dealing with a string of "B"s or "O"s. Much better video tbh but this comes up first in results.
I found this one too! czcams.com/video/q445MzE7ku8/video.html
Am I the only one getting only One path for the letter "O".
We're going to morph WORDS into.........................................................................words !
lots of copy, paste very complex
why are some of the letters filled in?
ex: gyazo.com/1ff49b3055944a97b954c7d06f19ad7a
Did you ever find a solution to this?
Pay attention to 3:25.
Both 'g' and 'o' both have two paths (because they have a hole in them).
Copy the outer 'o' path to the outer 'g', as with the inner path
"I'm gonna explain why the 7 oos"
Well you didn't
yer, he did. Sonduck is 7 letters
@@kbrit5541 yep, but why put the goddamn oos, why don't just keep the two words, I didn't get it
@@kbrit5541 yep, but why put the goddamn oos, why don't just keep the two words, I didn't get it
he answers that at 1:51
I wanna morph covid19 into david1972
Thank you!
