Emergency angioplasty is an operation that is performed directly after a heart attack, on admission to the hospital. It involves the insertion of a catheter into the blocked blood vessel that caused the heart attack. This opens it up and allows blood to flow again, thus minimizing damage to the heart.
If one or more arteries become clogged, it may result in a heart attack. This normally presents with chest pain, sweating and a feeling of anxiety, among other symptoms. Urgent medical assistance should be sought. A heart attack is a medical emergency requiring intervention as soon as possible.

@@vstro223 Yes, they injected a local anaesthetic in the wrist then stuck the tubes in through the artery (in the wrist) which went all the way to the heart. It was so fascinating to watch the process live on the screen.

@@vstro223 Only the anaesthetic injection, a slight burning sensation, then my hand felt like I was wearing a boxing glove for an hour.

Had angiography, detection of blockage (80%), and angioplasty all in one 2 hour session. Discharged same day. Used to have to take deep breath often. Immediate relief felt in easier breathing than before.
It is such a relief to know that it is not a major surgery , my grandma will go through this surgery in a week ,

My mom just died on March 2, 2020. My dad was rushed to the hospital yesterday due to heart attack and is now admitted in the ICU. He needs to undergo this procedure but we don't have enough money to support this procedure. 😭😭😭

Recently I undergone the same operation after identified 95% block in angiogram,one stunt placed in same time is a very simple one in MMM hospital,Chennai,India..discharged the next day after observation...now I am feeling good...

@@rebeccarodecap1981 It all went very smoothly, you can watch part of it on a monitor and i found it very interesting. My pulse dropped to about 38 afterwards and it took a while for my pulse to settle into is normal stride.
Am going to do this tomorrow it's painful when they insert the wire?

My husband had this done 5 to times on one side he had eight stents in there he lived well tell his left side clot broke loose VA hospital wanted to wait till it got worse . Now 4 to yrs later my boyfriend has to have it done it will save his life and the down time from a heart attack I no I've been through it 5 times when husband was alive

Although the word 'dye' is often used in the explanation of procedures it is incorrect (most people grasp the idea that a dye will show up the blood vessels). In fact it is an iodine based contrast which blocks more x-rays from the fluoroscope than the body thereby showing those vessels in contrast to the surrounding area.
Sally Rooke you know... like a dye would? the point of calling it a dye is to name it for its function in the imaging process; providing contrast material as you say. this is equivalent to a dye, regardless the method by which it is detected ( you are correct, it would be impossible to distinguish visually with an unaided eye)
