Very nice comparison. I’m glad you mentioned the height of the Ironmaster Bench at the flat position as I too remembered the height of their older model being 20 inches high to 17.2 inches for the newer model. Keep producing the side by side comparison. As this is good stuff.
Thank you! I’m glad to hear it was helpful.
Thanks for the video. Thorough and informative. I like both of those benches. Also, reading the Fixing Milo book was a nice touch. I too have that book and I enjoy trying to diagnose and fix my pains and injuries.
Thanks so much and great to hear from another, Rebuilding Milo fan.
Great video comparing the two! Your videos are super informative and helpful. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! I appreciate your support.
Pretty holistic review dude, you provided a lot of considerations that I hadn’t even thought of. You have a sick home gym
Thanks so much! I’m glad to hear the video was helpful!
Great review. Very well done. Two awesome options. Thanks for the detailed feedback. I appreciate your approach. Thanks!
Thanks so much!
Exactly the comparison I was looking for! Trying to decide between the two, you easily convinced me to get the Powertech! Thank you!
Good to hear the video was helpful. Thanks so much.
A Very very good in depth comparison. For potential buyers a must see video. Great job Hacky!
Thank you! I really appreciate it, LW!
Very thorough comparison. Thank you.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
nice review/comparisons ..eventually im going to get a different bench as mine is just too tall when doing flat benching, and im 6'2". ALSO i like and appreciate the lil comedy in this video with the comfort comparison :D Thanks and have a Spooky Halloween!!
Thanks so much, Mik! Same to to you, sir!
Very informative and in depth🙏👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you!
Good comparison as always HGHR
Seeing I went with a commercial graded cage to train out of rather than a space saving half rack, it's taken up a bit of floor space in the garage along with having limited weight storage options (realistically will only put on 1 pair of removeable storage pegs on the opposite side to where I'm lifting to weigh the rack down so will need a decent weight tree for most of my plates), so I probably will lean towards getting the SB pro as a flat bench + attachment bench duo, however I've got no regrets with the cage, I feel safe in it and have smashed out some big bench numbers since I bought it.
I think a seated calf raise might be one of the only stand alone machines I may be able to fit in the garage once I've bought all the dumbbells, plates, barbells and storage that I need to base my bread and butter training around, so the SB pro will definitely fill in some gaps on other smaller stations I'd have interest in but might not have the space for (preacher bench, hyperextension, leg curl/ext, power tower/dip station etc)
Another Ironmaster attachment you didn't mention but has always fascinated me is the dumbbell spotting stands for the super bench which are a great idea for incline/shoulder presses where it can be difficult to get into a starting position safely, it also can be utilised with barbell adapters too so with the SB/SB Pro you can set up a makeshit bench press/incline press out of it too
Thank you! I’m really glad to hear your gym is coming along nicely and glad to hear your training is going nicely with the new cage. It sounds like you have a piece that will last you forever.
Yeah, I should have included those in the review.
Great review and I almost pulled the trigger on the powertec bench and attachments. Fortunately I measured the base and compared it to my power rack and found it won’t fit inside! Not sure how many others this would affect but it might be worth mentioning the oversized base somewhere. Now I’m back to waiting for Ironmaster stock :-(
Thanks so much! Oh wow! I’m glad you measured. What rack do you have?
God why did I deprive myself of so much Godly knowledge for so long . I binge watch it now❤️
😂 😂 😂
Just got my super bench today, thanks for your reviews
Thank you! I hope you like it as much as I do.
Which bench
Both are solid!! My dad has the ironmaster and he had always said great things about it!!
Thanks, Luke! Good to hear your dad is a fan of the IM too!
fathers can make a mistake too 😂 (just joking) My favorite is the Powertec combined with ATX attachments. My only complaint is that the bench is #%^*£* heavy. despite the wheels.
Great review, had the IM bench for around 6 years and it still looks like new, have had the pulley attachment for both the IM and PT, The IM version felt more stable in use but the PT version was more function and easier to use, I didn’t like the IM leg ext/curl attachment, I had to adjust the rear stopper every time I wanted to do leg curls so that the starting position didn’t put a strain on my legs, the IM Hyper attachment was probably my most used IM attachment, both the IM preacher and dip attachments were solid in use, I prefer the PT bench for pressing, the Original IM bench is too high and too narrow for me.
Thank you! Also, thanks for all of that information. It’s always good to get your perspective.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews while there are a few reviews for the IM bench out there, it would be good to get your take on it once you’ve had some time with it, btw you look like you’ve gained your size back after being I’ll.
I already love it. I ordered some more of the attachments to help me be more well informed.
I gave you a quick name drop if you caught that.
Size is coming back. Thanks! Partly due to my DC blast.
Thanks for the review!
Quick note: We actually offer 9 unique attachments for both the Super Bench Pro and the Super Bench, not counting the seat attachment. Plus, additional accessories are available, like the Hybrid Bench Pad as you mentioned, and add-on wheel kits.
I missed the dumbbell stand in this review. I was thinking more about pieces that connected into your organizer.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews, great details, and learned a bit about that other guy too.
@@IronmasterPro thank you! 🤣🤣🤣
I am so glad to have both of them for all of their different features.
@@IronmasterPro Will there be a pec fly attachment and preacher curl that you are able to remove and connect different attachments (IE: Tricep Rope, Handle bars, D handle, etc.)coming soon to the super bench pro v2 or no?
Hopefully, Ironmaster will chime in, but based on information I was given over a year ago, Matt, the owner of Ironmaster, has given a Pec Fly attachment a try, but wasn’t 100% satisfied with the end product. As for the Preacher, I don’t foresee anything beyond the preacher attachment that is presently available. When moved in front of a cable system, the existing preacher attachment can do everything you mentioned.
One day this channel is going to skyrocket 10-15k subscribers in one month. It just needs the algorithm everyone loves your reviews. Saw it with Ivan Djuric - Squat everyday program.
I really appreciate your comment. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video. I agree with the Powertec's obstruction of the bench's front legs. I just got off of the phone with Powertec, and they had no idea of front leg issue. I think I'll get The Ironmaster to replace the Powertec.
@@jimwhite9605 with the Powertec, I think it’s best to just place your feet on the bench’s legs. If you have the space, I would keep the Powertec bench for the attachments.
Great review (yet again). I decided that the best bench to buy would be one with versatility that can be expanded with add on pieces, so I considered Powertec versus Ironmaster. Think you summary was excellent, PT is mainly lever based where as IM mainly bodyweight and BB/DB bases. I have a really small room in the attic (which is also my home office where I work) with sloping roofs and the main priority was chin up bar (do loads of dead hangs every day) and dip bar. So altho PT might be better for most people, for my situation I choose IM and I'm very happy, it's smaller, easier to store, lighter weight and easier to take off/ attach on than PT. I also have adjustable dumbbells and adjustable barbel up in the attic and have no regrets so far. For heavy stuff, power cage and olympic barbels are in a shed down the garden.
Thanks so much and it’s great to hear you found a bench that fits your space and your needs.
Very good review
Thanks so much!
Sweet comparison , the inversion table imitation on Iron Master was cool.
Thanks, MC! That is a major selling point for the bench. I sold my inversion table and now I basically have another one.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews
I dont know what's going on but I sees this bench being sold by more people in my area than any other bench. Just an observation
The IM or the Powertec?
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews
The IM , was scrolling offer up very popular for sellers
I think I remember you saying you’re in Washington state. IM is out of Washington state. That could have something to do with it. If you see a good deal on one, I highly recommend it. If you like a wider pad, then you might like the bench better with the Hybrid pad.
Not sure what the availability is on both benches and attachments. Debating which to get. I mainly like the leg extensions and preacher curls on the PT. How is the Leg press attachment in the PT? Don’t have room for stand alone.
I had the LP attachment for a short period of time but upgraded to the stand-alone. I found it to be better for lighter weight / higher rep training. Also, if I were to get it again, I would want a dedicated bench to leave the attachment attached at all times.
Sold my PT bench and ordered the Ironmaster Super bench Pro plus the crunch attachment, I still have a PT bench which is connected to my Multipress, had the original Ironmaster bench for 5 or 6 years, sold it with the IM2000, the bench still looked like new when I sold it, the only negatives I had with it was that it was a bit to high when doing flat bench, and a bit narrow when doing free weight barbell benching, I don't do that any more so I'm really looking forward to using the new Pro version.
Hey, WA! Let me know what you think when you get them.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Will do, I almost ordered the wide pad but figured I'd try the standard one first, while I found the pad on the original a bit too narrow when barbell benching, I think that may have been a combination of it being a bit too tall in its flat position and a little narrow, which knocked me off my balance, I caught Coops review of the super bench, unless they've changes the quality of the pad on the Pro from the original, I think he's negatives on the bench were presumptuous.
I also ordered the PT Lat tower attachment again, while its not as well built as the Ironmaster version, the mid pulley works well for me when doing cable rows without stressing my lower back, plus the local PT reseller had a third off the price.
@@williamaustin6132 a 1/3 of the price is pretty good…that’s the only attachment I haven’t tried in the PT line up. I’m a big fan of the hybrid pad…it’s more dense than the original and the material is unlike any pad I’ve used before (it’s textured), but it’s like two pads in one…narrow when you want and wide when you want.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Received my IM Pro Bench 3 days ago (2 day shipping from IM in the UK), very impressed with it, even with the standard pad the lower hight makes it more balanced for me when doing free weight benching, I didn't need the rollers so turned the front foot the other way so the rollers are on the inside, as a whole it feels even more stable and solid that the original, which itself was a very stable bench.
@@williamaustin6132 that is great to hear! Fast shipping too! I love it…as a matter of fact, I’m performing chest supported rows with it and the IM 2000 as we speak.
Which leg ext/curl did you prefer? I really like the PT version, had the Ironmaster version with the original IM Bench, leg Ext was fine but leg curls put pressure on my lower back, I wonder if now with the declined position of the IM Pro bench it makes this more comfortable, or if placing something like an Abe Pad under your hips might help.
There are features I like with each. PT = handles, stainless steel weight horn, and back rest
IM = higher off the ground, front foot to keep bench from tipping (if PT isn’t locked into LG, smith, rack), the decline for the IM makes leg curls feel easy on the lower back, and the IM is easier to connect
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Thanks, I guess the IM is also easier to store given it has its own foot, if you don't have the organisers
@@williamaustin6132 true, it does stand up on its own.
Powertec could provide a short front bar for the bench. For people who don't want to use any attachmants and need the foot clearance.
This could be swapped out for the long curved one if you change your mind
Powertec has a streamline bench without the attachment tube and without the front curved foot.
I have the superbench. Pretty much my only gripe with ironmaster equipment is the foam rollers. They feel really cheap and squishy. I also have the rep fitness ab5000 with the decline attachments. The rollers on there are dense and of gym Quality. I installed ironmaster roller covers on them and they fit like they were made for rep fitness rollers than they do than any of the ironmaster foam rollers
I agree with that and I mention that in every IM review where there is a foam roller without a leather or vinyl cover.
Home Gym Hacks and Reviews I am 6' 3" so I have long legs and when using the PowerTec leg extension I have to raise the bench with a 2/4. Will this be the case with the Ironmaster bench?
I don’t think so. You can get a pretty good idea how high your feet will hang off ground when performing the Leg Ext if you check out my review for the attachment. Much more foot clearance on the IM.
Good video 👍
Thank you!
Would you mind confirming that the Powertec Dip Attachment would not be compatible in the IronMaster. It looks like probably not, but since you have both, just making sure. Thanks!
Sorry. It’s not compatible.
I already purchased the powertec but after seeing this review im not sure. I only really wanted it for the leg curl attachment and the decline situps. I do a lot of dumbbell work and barbell. My current bench is a titan and is 19 inches high and I feel perfectly fine on it. Im torn
I think the Powertec Leg Ext / Leg Curl is much better for leg extensions and curls and it has a nicer fit and finish. However, the sit up attachment is better on the Ironmaster. If you are extremely tall, the Ironmaster leg extension is better suited for tall people because of the positioning of the bench.
Do you think the leg extension is better on the Powertec bench or the iron-master , or would you buy the titan leg curl leg extension before buying a extension attachment thanks , I have both benches was going to buy one of these or the titan leg Ext leg curl machine
It’s a toss up. Each bench has features I like. No matter what, I would get an attachment so you can do prone leg curls. But the Titan Seated leg curl / ext is my favorite of the 3. It was just on sale a couple days ago. Now back to OG price.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews I did see that unfortunately I'll have to wait until Income taxes , I was also looking to get the commercial power-block dumbells also the ones with the sterling Handles, but like everything else have jumped from 1200 to now I believe 1600 that's a 400 dollar jump , I believe prices will continue to Soar, you made me a believer on the titan leg Ext , I know it will not feel like a commercial unit but looks good and doesn't look like it takes up to much space
@@jamesdingess9988 yeah, there is limited resistance in the starting position for each exercise. You can hack it with a band or by connecting it to a cable system…even with that fault, it’s still a great piece for home use. Why not the Ironmaster Dumbbells?
Sir mujhe ye bench chahiye khashe le
Just recently got the powertec bench . I’m quite impressed by it . After some iron master adjustable dumbbells next . Have you tried them ? By the way great comparison video .
Thank you! I’m really glad to hear you like the Powertec FID Bench! I’ve had some version of the Powertec FID bench since starting my home gym journey over 15 years ago.
I have not tried the IM Adjustable Dumbbells. However, based on everything I’ve read, seen, etc., they would be my top choice. The IM dumbbell lottery is going on now.
I've got Ironmaster dumbbells and kettlebells. Not a big kettlebell user, but good to have a pair whenever I feel like using them on a back or leg workout say doing RDLs, kb rows or kb swings or something
I prefer the dumbbells for heavy compound movements like db presses and rows as they're a more compact shape than a traditional hex or round dumbbell, though for drop sets, warm up sets and accessory exercises I have a couple of pairs of lighter hex dumbbells to work in with, I find they complement each other well this way so I'm not changing plates on the Ironmasters after every set. Though if you're cramped for space/cash the Ironmasters are a fine option to get all your training in, Powerblocks are a good option too. Powerblocks are probably quicker to change between sets but Ironmasters are far more durable having no plastic parts being all steel/chrome and iron. The one slight flaw Ironmasters have is the heavier you go and more plates you put on per side (normally around the 50lb mark) you'll find the centre of gravity in the Ironmasters changes so whatever grip you used for light/medium weight will have to change a bit, I find I'm more in control of the heavier dumbbells with my hands slightly towards the outside rather than the centre.
But yeah my plan will be to have a full set of 5-25kg hex dumbbells on a medium sized 3 tier rack for those accessories (10-55lbs) and they interchange with the Ironmasters. Worked out it's still cheaper and more space efficient going Ironmasters + a 5-25kg set than having a whole 5-60kg hex dumbbell set that would need a humongous storage option to fit all the dumbbells on, not to mention most of the heavy hex dumbbells would be used only like once a month. I have the Ironmaster 120lb add on kit and will eventually get the heavy handle kit that will take the Ironmasters up to a 135lb/61kg max which will be a PB for me as 57.5kgs heaviest db presses I've ever done. The heavy handle kit apparently improves the centre of gravity too which I mentioned in the previous paragraph as they're plates that mould/screw in to the inside of the dumbbell handles, so reduces the grip width down about an inch, but unless you have buckets for hands it'll still be enough grip width
So yeah, that's my take on them
@@redwhiteandblueblood excellent information!
Nice one , great insight into the iron masters . I’m deffo going to buy some however when they next will be available here in the uk is another matter !
@@stormlord3309 I assume you're an Aussie who uses Sam's going by that Storm av 😉 (I'm a Parramatta fan)
Yeah I got mine from them in September last year, waited all winter for them, but was worth it. I sent through an email in April when everything everywhere was sold out and they put me on their wait list a few weeks later once they got around to answering all their mail (apparently they had thousands of enquiries to go through at the time).
Fwiw I've seen bugger all Powertec stuff available on their website since I started using Sams last year, ATX and Ironmaster seem to have far quicker turnarounds in stock (maybe 3-4 months on alot of items).
So the Iron Master can be used for decline movements? Like decline bench press?
It can, but the sit up attachment needs to go with it.
Are the black End Caps for the foam rollers an upgrade? Mine are silver and keep popping out...
The black end caps are bolt on and come with the newer model Powertec equipment. I’ve had older Powertec equipment with the silver end caps, and after they came off a few times, I just left them off.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Thank you
Hi, I have a leverage gym and wanted to purchase a bench for it. I wanted to know it the ironman bench would work with a leverage gym setup? I can't find anything online regarding this question. Thanks
It won’t lock into the Levergym for added stability, but I used my old red bench with the Levergym for years and other people have told me the Ironmaster Bench works well with the Levergym (I’ve never tried the two together).
Nice floors, are those real hardwood or laminate?
Laminate. I’ve gotten lucky because I’ve dropped quite a bit of equipment on them (by accident) and there’s no visual damage.
Does the IM seat pad gap bother you at all? Is the narrowness of the seat pad uncomfortable, in the way a bike seat is? The seat is my main reservation with this bench.
The seat is biggest area for improvement. I don’t think it’s comfortable and for many incline positions, I just left it off.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews dang that might be a deal breaker for me. Appreciate the response!
@@jonpodosek6942 agree it's not comfortable but not exactly uncomfortable either. It allows you to do the job and that's all that matters, so it's perfectly adequate for me.
How well does the Powertec FID bench fit in the IM200? I like the IM200 but I prefer the Powertec bench and attachments.
I’ve never used the Powertec bench in the IM 2000. It’s a little bigger / longer, so probably not as well (if the plates aren’t removed, the bench head may touch the plates on the storage horns depending on your height / exercise you are doing). For shoulder press, the bench can face towards the IM 2000 without issue.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Thanks for the insight! I appreciate it. I ordered 2 sets of the Angles90 using your affiliate link and discount code. Thanks for that as well :)
@@hobbesab thanks so much! At some point soon, I’ll move the Powertec bench from the garage into the house and take it for a test drive on the IM 2000.
Funny that you got a second set of the Angles 90, I just ordered a second set for myself this morning.
@@hobbesab I just brought the Powertec FID bench inside and used it with the IM 2000. It works great! Also, since the bench can slide along the frame horizontally, the combination should fit most people.

Durability/longevity on the powertech?
Built to last. I’ve had a few different models of this bench over the last 15 years and they’ve always held up. Also, many people comment here saying they’ve had the Powertec bench for 5-10-15 years and it’s still going strong. I have a new review for the Powertec FID Bench if you want to check it out.
Be nice to see how the REP AB-3000 Adjustable Bench stacks up against these two. Keep up the solid work.
Thank you! I agree.
I wish ironamster had a pec fly attachment
At some point, I think there will be a Pec fly attachment for the Super Bench Pro.
I thought REP AB 3100 was the way to go for me.. I was wrong.
I haven’t used any of Rep’s products so I can’t say for certain one is better than the other. These two will offer much more versatility…while the Rep may be better for dumbbell and barbell work.
the only very good attatments that you cannot get normal on home gym
is leg curl and pracher curl
Pretty sure ATX is compatible with Powertec, but that's about it
I agree with that. And the Ironax, which is basically a cc.
Prices.. jeesh
For all they can do, I don’t think the prices are too high…also, unfortunately, like everything else, the prices have gone up.
Just say which one is better lol
I did. For DB work and body weight exercise attachments, the Ironmaster. For plate loaded machine attachments, the Powertec.
If you could only have ONE. Which one would you choose?
