easy way to clean out tanks, strap it down in the bed of a pickup truck, seal all openings, load it with purple degreaser and water about 3/4 full. Then drive the truck to work/errands for a few days. the washing machine effect works really well, just did the tank on a 1944 willys this way. rinse it 2-3 times with water. I've been using caswell tank sealer, it's 2 part and has been holding up well to modern gas and ethanol

OK I think you blew the sock off the end of it when you put pressure on it which is an old fix we used to do back in the day, we used to send tanks to radiator repair shops they would boil them out and then coat the inside, but I’m talking back in the 60s and 70s. Probably be best to buy a new tank and sender and start fresh. This could be a lot of problem that you’re having with the EFI not getting enough fuel and pressure. Good luck glad to be on this journey with you.

It's easy to say - "ah - just go buy a new one" - When something can be repaired to as close to new as need be, just repair it - I'm sure you know as well as I that money has to be earned - it doesn't grow on trees. - besides throwing too much money at a jalopy will bury you and you will be left with a turd.- for sure the sender is 'IFFY' - I've had to go both ways on tanks but the senders on both new tanks leaked when I put in a full tank of fuel - p.s. Those rear shackles are a real work of art - there are grinders in Canada.
