If we've learned anything from our series "Collapse," it's that sports fans enjoy watching something successful turn into ash. Sometimes it's out of jealousy, others it's more simply hatred, but it's always because we're curious to understand how the pieces that made a franchise great moved on.
Players aging, front office mismanagement, bad luck - a lot goes into a franchise collapsing. But when the team reached a dynastic status, the fall feels even more extreme. We're here to unpack those dynasties that fell apart in our first-ever "Collapse" marathon. Enjoy.

[shakes fist in the air] BRING BACK COLLAPSE, YOU COWARDS!
AGREED
Give it 5 years for the Mavs Collapse video
Yes pls
Untitled too
@@TheSamps0n bro I've been waiting five years for a new Untitled 😂
Please do more Collapse videos!!!!!
There’s still so many teams and sports icons that need to be covered!
The Patriots collapse in the years since their last Super Bowl win
@@SkidMan_JurejWe are far enough removed from 2018 that a good video on that topic could be made.
@@SkidMan_Jurejespecially now that Belichick is gone, this would be a good one
They should do the 1980’s Sixers, 98 padres, 07 Rockies, 2010 saints, 2016 cardinals and etc
@@Xlc_Royal172016 *Cubs
Still desperately need the post-Bird Celtics
Would start after 1986 (that was Bird’s last title I believe).
They were a good team for another six or seven years (essentially through the first post-Bird season), then they fell off a cliff over 93-94 to the end of that decade.
Would make a good gradual collapse.
They put together all those who fell apart
Poetic
Hence the name- Collapse.
I’d like new videos instead of these super cuts. Still watching this super cut though 😂
we love collapse and definitely want to make more, it's tricky at the moment because of the lift each episode is but figured this was a nice way to at least breathe some life into the series especially for newer audiences, fingers crossed
@@SecretBaseSBN I love Secret Base and I know these videos take so much work. As a matter of a fact if you need a research guy to help get more videos off the ground, I’d love to be part of the team! My resume: my brain exclusively holds useless sports trivia.
@@SecretBaseSBNWas a good series of videos and it’d be cool to see it come back.
Not a team that won it all, but the 01 Mariners collapse was pretty much my introduction to this channel.
If you ever do bring back collapse, two of my suggestions would be the Raiders and 49ers after their last championships to date (1983 and 1994 respectively).
@@SecretBaseSBNThe 2018 Patriots would be a perfect new episode. Considering the fallout after Gronk's first retirement, Brady's departure from New England, and the sheer offensive incompetence that led Bill Belichick to become the losingest head coach in NFL history (tied) and having Robert Kraft blackball him.
@@BenchForAllTheMarbles Blackball my ass. He wanted to stay GM when GM Bill was killing the Patriots. He did not deserve to keep his job if he was gonna demand to stay GM
Can y’all bring this back please?
Easily my favorite series from this channel.
This and Untitled. The Barry Sanders one was my introduction to this channel.
@@hyperbisonI'm baffled they didn't do Untitled - Carmelo Anthony
@@camillaquelladegliaggettiv4303When they were doing those videos I don’t think he’d formally retired yet.
Though he most certainly had left his prime.
At least he won in college though.
Bring this back please. Without this I wouldn’t even know you guys, collapse was a great series and hope you all listen to your fan base and bring back a new season !!
SB is trying to signal bad vibes to this Boston Celtics team lmao
i remember the Baby Bulls, when the GM wisely drafted 2 centers with 2 top 4 picks. GENIUS
So many teams that can still be done. The World Series Cubs and the Legion of Boom are at the top of my personal list of most wanted teams to see
I wanna see more collapse episodes. Love these
Bring back Collapse! Few suggestions: Patriots since Brady left, Bad Boys Pistons, Raptors and their one-year wonder of Kawhi, Red Sox and Cubs since their WS wins, Broncos since Peyton's farewell
And if Florida Panthers loses tonight to Edmonton, it might be a possible Collapse story in the future
@@joelsterling1445Dammit. *It didn’t happen…* 😅😂😒😞
Collapse ideas in the future if you decide to come back to this series:
Broncos since 2015
Current Bills if they can’t win it this year
Current Suns if this era is untitled
Brooklyn Nets since 2021
Eagles from 2018-2020 (I know my team Sprung back up, but still very much qualifies)
Broncos since 2015 is a case of a team who had a defensive identity when they won it all, and hasn’t had a good quarterback since Peyton Manning left his prime.
@@fortynights1513 Still from Peyton's decline and retirement to not making the playoffs since is a good criteria to be featured, especially with the team now in a total rebuild.
@@DanielOhebI’d have to double check but if the Jets make the playoffs at some point in the near future, the Broncos might be the next longest playoff drought in the NFL
Warriors??
A collapse suggestion: Do the Raiders after 1983, and the Niners after 1994.
There’s a Raiders collapse after their Super Bowl appearance.
@@baxatakbaxatak2014They did do 02 of course, and that was a good video.
the post-Montana/Rice era was brutal.
@@dynad00d15 Ahh, yes, days of Erickson, Nolan the Younger, and Singletary.
And Seahawks Legion of Boom era.
Bring back more of these collapse videos! Here’s some fresh ideas- collapse of Powerhouse football programs (Nebraska), the Spurs recent bad years, the Oakland A’s of the past decade, or even a UFC type collapse like Tony Ferguson
The thing about the 2020 Last Dance series that most of us didn’t care for was the hate towards Jerry Krause. Who of course was long dead and couldn’t defend himself. And even worse his widow was booed the night Krause was honored in Chicago. I’m no Krause defender. But all that was pretty low. Especially hbreakimg the heart of an old widow.
And completely shielded Jerry Reinsdorf from a lot of warranted criticism. Wasn't it Reinsdorf who ordered Krause to break the band up and rebuild?
Seems to be The Last Dance wasn't just about Jordan solidifying his legacy - it was also a good opportunity for Reinsdorf to do the same and paint up Krause as the devil because he's dead and can't defend himself.
@ahogg5960 Yes it was Reinsdorf. People don't understand that Jerry Reinsdorf was the owner, not Krause. Reinsdorf was cheap. He broke that team up
That display done by the fans to his wife really highlights people’s lack of critical thinking/perspective.
Kudos to the players and front office for their sustained dominance.
Granted though MJ did have final creative control on what made it to the public.
Booing his widow was definitely low, but anyone pretending that The Last Dance created or was some major amplifier of hate towards Krause is just wrong. He was being booed when they won championships.
Did you want the players to refrain from criticism because he's dead? That would have been even weirder. All these players hated Krause, the documentary would have looked very weird if all the criticisms were omitted. Seriously people just complain without thinking about their critique. Imagine a segment talking about contracts and money and tiptoeing around Krause and his feud with Phil Jackson and the players. That would have been weird and that's why you people aren't producers and directors.
This is the best series you got on the channel. Please start doing more
As a 80’s baby who grew up obsessed with sports (especially NBA, NFL and MLB) I deeply connect with this! Love hearing those names I haven’t thought about in eons (Mario Elie! Marcus Fizer!). Keep up the great work!
Ideas for Future Videos:
- Late 2010s Rockets (Harden Analytics ISO Ball Rockets)
- 2018 Red Sox (how the Triple Bs completely dissolved into mediocrity)
-Pats Dynasty (post 2018-19 era, the dying days of the dynasty)
-LA Kings (2012-14, How the kings crashed into instant free fall following improbable titles)
- Raptors (2019, how the Raptors went from the fun guy to an endless funk of failure)
- Spurs (how the Spurs completely sputtered aftee years of stellar dominance)
-Knicks (how Melos Knicks melted following a magical 2013 season)
-Seahawks (how the Seahawks lost the legion of boom)
- Wizards (how John Walls Wizards withered into endless pergatory)
-Nationals (following 2019, how the Nats immediately fell into nothingness after a stunning triumph)
-76ers, (how the process Sixers pushed themselves out of their seemingly endless potential)
-Capitals mid to late 2010s (how the Capitals went from annual contenders to catastrophe
*ALL* great ideas. 👍
Bias cause I’m a fan of them but I’d like to see a breakdown of the Angels and Ducks collapses. Both teams were at or near the top of their sports in the 2000’s and now are at the bottom in both their play and in relevancy the LA/Orange County area.
Yeah, same. Been a fan of both of them since I was a little kid…
Dang, straight to my falling asleep playlist.
You guys really should have included chapters or at least mentioned in the description which teams were being described. I think we all have the right to pick and choose what we want to see without having to scroll through 5 minutes at a shot
thanks for the suggestion, just added to description!
Still haven’t gotten a Seahawks/Legion of Boom collapse video.
My new bed time story. Thank you Secret Base.
Nice... Collapse is one of the best sports things on youtube, itll be cool to watch em all again
This was crucial in terms of having content for your every day subscribers. People who rely on your content..I appreciate this👏🏽
Please do a rewind of the valley oop in game 5 of the 2021 finals. Giannis fulfilling his potential coming off what should’ve been a season ending injury the round before. Coming back from 2-0 down in the finals. 35-15-5 finals mvp. Its an amazing, intense, and iconic story
So many good options:
Miami after 2005 NBA Finals
Notre Dame after Lou Holtz
Yankees after 2009 World Series
Nebraska after Tom Osborne
Pistons after Bad Boys
Celtics after their last 80s title
Can you really count the Yankees because they only won two championships in the 2000s. They were literally at the beginning and end of the decade, lol. I love the Yanks, but winning in 2000 and then not again until 2009 isn't a collapse.
I NEEDED this today 😊
This is great, now please make more ❤
Thank y'all for this ! 🙏🏾 Bless up
It's a damned shame this only covered USA sports history. The collapse of Man United after the Ferguson dynasty, which included multiple dynasties within: Cantona era, Class of 92 era, Rooney-Ronaldo era. Looking specifically at the collapse of the Rooney-Ronaldo era, how players left and the owners failed to reinforce the squad.
The collapse of AC Milan post 2007 Champions league win and collapse of inter Milan post 2010 treble winner is another great case for collapse series, but I think they're probably will have difficulties to finding english literature
@@josephtambun3767 yeah, the vast majority of it would be covered in Italian journalism. But those collapses were huge, especially considering how Juve went on to dominate for an entire decade, and both Inter and AC Milan struggled for Champions League qualification throughout.
As much as I want any football/soccer stuff on SB, ya gotta remember, they’re an American channel, and Yanks aren’t exactly known for being footy fans…
I’m gonna need to see a collapse for my Broncos. Tebow-mania to the Manning era to No Fly Zone to nearly a decade of mediocrity.
Love these longer marathon cuts and I think Collapse is one of my favorite series y’all have ever done! Such great content
PLEASE MAKE MORE!!! 🙏🏾
Love these !!! I could literally watch these all day !!!
Crazy how we might be seeing a similar video on The Warriors in a couple years.
What's happened with the Warriors sort of reminds me of the Collapse video SB did on the Marlins (not part of this compilation), where they won a championship in the middle of their Collapse (in this case, 2022). If, in another couple of years, they haven't turned things around, I could very easily see them as candidates for a similar video.
How do you only have 1.4M subscribers? Your videos are soo good. Keep it up
One of my absolute favorite series of all time please can we get more
As a Bucks fan watching these makes me verrrrrry nervous because we are following the collapse pattern perfectly
If Dame and Giannis ended up on the same team six or seven years earlier could they have done better than they did this past year in reality?
@@fortynights1513I think they would win 1-2 rings if they were together for that long, if they put a nice supporting cast together. And I’m not a Bucks fan.
@@whips8I could see that.
Also, out of curiosity:
I hear people say that Jrue Holiday is a good perimeter defender, how is Dame defensively?
Just curious because that’s the guy he was supposedly replacing, and I generally don’t hear people talk about defense for most guards.
My dude...yall got Doc as Head Coach. The collapse is inevitable and the only question is at what point this past season was the beginning of the descent.
The bucks won once. They already been collapsing. I mean, 1st round exit after winning it all. Yikes. Middleton is still on the team. Bigger yikes. Doc rivers is the coach. It's so cooked
Makes the 11 time, 8 straight world champion Bill Russell Celtics all the more impressive. They went out on top, on their own terms.
I can’t imagine the amount of work needed to make these types of videos..:.the research is one thing, but all the pics, articles, clips and effects….😮
Finally !!!!! Doc Style it's only right
Thank you
I love the Collapse Series so much!!! Praying we get more episodes!!!!!!!!
I know baseball probably isn't the most exciting sport but there are alot of recent ones;
The 2015 Kansas City Royals
The 2005 Chicago WHite Sox
The 2010-2012 Texas Rangers
The Moneyball Oakland Athletics
The 2016 Chicago Cubs and eventually...
The current Houston Astros!!!!!!!!!
I've never needed something more in my life
Y'all need to do CFB dynasty's
Also, what’s the music at 3:52? I only hear it in this series of videos and Untitled and I can’t find it anywhere.

Love this series! Can you please bring it back? I’d love to see one on Seattle now that Carroll and Russ are both gone or the Patriots now that Belicheck and Brady are gone?
The late 90s Rockets and 2010s Nets had one thing in common: think a bunch of older vets will win you a title (they had no chance)
U guys need to bring this back man
Waiting for the Warriors Collapse. Coming off the bench last season, we saw Klay Allen spiral into Tobias Thompson, unfollow the team's socials, and the basket.
Given that their last title was 2022 if you want to count that one for this purpose, I think we could be a little too close still (not that they are winning another title with the same core, but I don’t know if there’s enough material yet)
Give it three years. When Steph retires, that's when the vid will come out.
Well this should be good 🍿
I am gonna eat so many snacks to this
Anderson Silva may have gotten an episode on Collapse, now we need a Ronda Rousey Collapse episode
Was hyped for new videos but then it was actually just all old videos ... bummer
BRING BACK THE SERIES PLZ
I would love to see the Big 3 or 4 men's tennis players throughout the late 00s til the mid 2010s. Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray.
I see new Secret Base video: TIME TO STRAP IN FOLKS!
Best stuff on the channel, and the reason you have my sub. Bring it back!
Everytime i hear Bill Cartright i always think of that Seinfeld episode
Seinfeld, four??
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
HATER MARATHONNNN
Oh man, as soon as i heard "Chicago Blackhawks" on the last one I KNEW this was gonna be absolutely brutal.
Jerry Krause did what I do on 2K eras. Build champions, then get bored, then trade them all for picks or let them walk in free agency, then try to rebuild.
Im a simple man i see Secret base upload i click 🤷🏾♂️😂😂
Don’t forget untitled too. Bring those back too 🙏🏽. I be watching the hockey and baseball ones even tho idk anything about em lol
My new favorite lullaby
You guys think you can come and be like: “oooooh we’ll drop some of the biggest, sickest, freest, content ever in the sports world and think we won’t be greatful?” 👀
Well I’m the first to tell you…: thank god you do what you do 😅
I need some buttered popcorn and a feet soak for this
If the Edmonton Oilers are not in this list, something is wrong. Glen Sather completely destroyed that dynasty within two seasons, got fired and they still haven't recovered...
Game 7, let's see if they recover
as a blue jackets fan, i love stan bowman. he gave the jackets 3 really good deals during his tenure.
Yall should do a dynasty falling for the 5 time champs Spurs, would be cool to see
The bulls trading Caruso for Giddy as this video drops is poetic
Double Collapse: The Asecent, Descent, Reascension, and Redescension of Terunofuji, a sumo legendary story
Since everyone's doing suggestions (and i think SB would be crazy to not do another season of collapse), here's a few I'd love to see:
Post-Duncan spurs
Frankie Edgar/Shogun Rua sad endings to legendary UFC runs
Post-Harden Rockets (peaking in WCF 2018)
Leicester City 2016-2023
2021 Phoenix Suns (if Booker ever leaves)
Just in time for work
More Collapse please! Oh and bring back Untitled!!!
The Clippers didn't learn from Houston's Collapse
Need to make more of these, here are some ideas:
*How the Eagles started to falter after a Super Bowl win
*How the Nationals went from World Series Champs to the NL East basement
*Philadelphia Flyers road to ruin
*How the Spurs went from top of the heap to Wemby
Etc.
The Nationals fall off was pretty much immediate.
Who retired or left other than Rendon?
The Patriots collapse starting with them losing to the Titans in the 2019 Wild Card Round. Then Tom Brady left in the off-season and it was all downhill from there
Eagles one doesn’t make any sense they had a couple years of poor performance but their back on their feet and don’t forget that they just recently went to the Super Bowl, don’t let last season fool u
@@fortynights1513 Strasburg got injured to the point of being unable to play baseball again. Rendon left in free agency. Juan Soto and Max Scherzer was traded once it was clear the team couldn't compete anymore. Several key players were all on expiring contracts, and the team was the oldest in baseball that year. 2019 was the last year they were realistically expected to do anything in the playoffs.
You did this on purpose, didn’t you?
Signed,
Florida Panthers Fans Post-Game 6
Kind of surprised a Collapse never got made about the Houston Comets
Man im really curious how the Bulls dynasty would have actually ended if it wasnt all blown up in 98. Bulls vs Lakers would have been very fun to watch.
Would love to see a Collapse for the 2000s era Ferrari Dream Team!
If the closing music of the Silva segment isn't a direct lift of Porcupine Tree then it's an amazing coincidence.
Probably the best collapse story ever is the story of the West Indies cricket team - in the 70s and 80s they had what was probably the most dominant run of a sports team ever led by legends like Viv Richards, Malcolm Marshall, Michael Holding, Clive Lloyd etc., but they lost it all in a long drawn-out decline which they have yet to fully recover from... A second collapse for them can actually be traced in T20s from the Darren Sammy days to missing the 2023 World Cup
Not really a "dynasty" per se, but I'd love a Collapse video on the 2014 Lions and how it all fell apart
BRING BACK COLLAPSE!!!
