FIJI - We’re on a cruise with Captain Cook Cruises to Fiji’s remote Lau Islands. Along with scenery, one of the best reasons to go on a cruise is for the food, so today I’m showing you a few of the delicious meals!
Thank you to Captain Cook Cruises (www.captaincookcruisesfiji.com/) for the incredible hospitality on this trip of a lifetime - highly recommended!
1. Tivua Island, Fiji
For our first meal we met with Head Chef Jackson from Captain Cook Cruises and we took a small boat to a private island. Unfortunately it was a little windy and rainy, but that didn’t stop us from having a local Fijian meal including Kokoda - raw fish in lime and coconut milk.
2, Indian Food Buffet
The next day we sailed to Makogai Island known for its history and colony. But on the cruise it also happened to be Indian buffet day.
3. Staff Meal
Not only do all the guests on Captain Cook Cruises eat well but so do the staff. One day I was invited to eat the staff meal on a day they ate a dish called Sui, which literally translates to Meaty Bones.
We ate a lot of food on Captain Cook Cruises, from morning to night, buffets and a la carte. It was an incredible experience.
A huge thank you to my friend Andhy Blake for arranging my trip to Fiji: / andhy_blake

Mark is probably not gonna read this, but we're all grateful to have him around this platform. May he continue to achieve success.
I agree with you I like watching his videos
I bet he does read it. The bet is a bottle of his Smoke Ghost Pepper Powder. I am addicted to it.
@@garykelly2404Is it hot?
Results: he didn't read it...
i m sure he is reading it
Thank you Mark for wearing our Bula shirts. It was an honor meeting you and your family on your trip to Fiji. Thank you for showcasing our culture and culinary to the world.
I didn't know the shirt was specific to Fiji. I called it cruise wear wear. I apologize. No disrespect. I love Mark's channel because you always learn new things.
I was exactly in a moment to say that like the shirt he is wearing 😅. Didn know is a traditional from there. Nice...
Please explain your exercise routine that makes you not get fat.
My wife and I honeymooned in Fiji in March 1994 and we loved every minute of it, the people, the food, the weather, the sea, the country and we are looking forward to going back for our 30th anniverssary!
Mark’s son has already been to more places than most of us will in our lifetimes
What got me hooked on Mark and his other food youtuber friends isn't the expensive food. Expensive eating is common in youtube. What got me is Mark sitting outside the street and eating cheap street foods. The surprise is that human society, where you go, there is good food. The local street vendor down the street is unique. Culture and people are unique elements that can be cherished and loved. And Mark Wiens came a long way to spread this message.
I totally agree with you. Mark's videos highlight good food from both ends of the spectrum! I love his honest critique and his authentic approach! 💜
I’m amazed how good our Fijian sisters and brothers are at cooking Indian… feeling so proud of my heritage 🇫🇯 … I’m so grateful I was born in Fiji and my ancestors decided to make Fiji their home
I have a friend that was raised in an orphanage in Fiji and she's Hindu Indian she even learned to do traditional Fijian dance.
They are Indian who are come Fiji island many year ago they are going to any country I don't know exact but they started living in Gigi island pacific Ocean I think in British empire back in india
@VatanBajwa they are Fijian. But Fiji have a great Indian population and the cuisine and lifestyle have intertwined thus many non Indians can cook Indian food. Fijis cuisine includes Fijian, Indian, Chinese, and European... all major part of the population since colonization
Beef curry you wana try??😅
But I'm sure with fijian influence, the spices are a bit mellow down. Not as strong as the original.
So happy to see one of our Polynesian cultures on display! Malo lava
Fiji is the best Pacific Island for tourism and for family holidays friendly people 👍👍
Fiji is a paradise,
5 years i was there, beautiful people, beautiful culture very clean country
Love fiji ❤
What a beautiful place on earth. I need to holiday here one day!
More Fijian restaurants are needed. This food looks divine
A lot of influences from India. Indonesia, n Thai
@araffadmalim1571 apart from the Indian influence,Itaukei are austronesian.
Exactly
it's a Fijian and Indian fusion, theres a lot more Fijian food not shown here like how people in the interior regions cook in bamboo and the different plants, animals from the forests and rivers.
@@eparamaravinatata1041we are Fijians not Austronesian that's what science says.
Your free spirit made me and my family love you.. From India 🇮🇳 salute
I have always wanted to go to Fiji and try the food, lay on the beach and just relax. It looks absolutely gorgeous 😍😍 thank you Mark for sharing your videos with us.
You wont be disappointed
U can welcome in fiji mai mean mate..
Love how Mark went to the different parts of Fiji to explore and unpack different foods that make up our small island 💯 From in land, to the towns/cities, to the islands 🤌🏾🤍🩵🇫🇯
Yhh
would have been nice if there were more..Episode 1 was all Coconut milk, Episode 2 was all Curry, and this one is a bit of both. How bout the underground lovo and other foods
@PacifikaGodz he wasn't paid to show different foods , Mark is a trade mark and if you want to him show your foods you need to pay . BUSINESS
@@PP-tuga come on.. you think the ladies in the market paid that much to advertise their food? It’s the markert…hundreds and thousands of people go to the markert everyday, she don’t need to show her product .. and plus he came to FIJI!! He has to try local food…so far it’s just seafood in coconut milk and loads of curry…first day he had the runs due to all the coconut milk, next day his arse is on fire with all the curry lol
@PacifikaGodz off course, not the ladies in the market, but everyone else .... Will pay , don't get me wrong but youtube is a business and Mark is a trade Mark so is all about that MONEY
Mark, thank you for giving us a glimpse of life on the Fijian islands… it’s so beautiful! I may never get there, but thru your videos I get to see it, savor the foods & marvel at the kind, gracious people of Fiji 🇫🇯
Almost at 10 million subscribers!! Hard to fathom because I remember you having less than 1 million subs. Keep up the great work Migrationology!!!!
I remember when he had less than 100,000! That is about when I started watching him. Then, along came Mikey Chen and I love his also. I don't miss a single one from either of them (they have even done some colab vids in the past). *To clarify, I don't know which of them began making vids first, the point I was trying to make was that I didn't 'find' Mikey until after I had been watching Mark for awhile.
Plus almost 2.5 billion views for all his videos, that's like almost 1 in 3 people of the entire world have seen a Mark Wiens video😉
His last meal was my favourite, brings back my childhood day's in Fiji.
The Fiji food are simple and their staple food cassava just like ours here in the central part of Mindanao, Philippines..
There are so many similarities like using coconut milk, as expected because of the abundance of coconuts here..
Thank you for sharing this paradise island of Fiji..

Micah's, " You want the whole bowl?", Cracked me up! 😂 He KNOWS his dad! I'm so glad you and your family enjoyed yourselves. 💜🌶️
Loving your Fiji and Australian videos Mark, so happy you have highlighted such incredible and sustainable destinations. Your happy disposition is infectious and your description of the food makes me hungry everytime 👍
Lol same
What a joy to watch micha growing and eating, feeding up his dad on chilies love it
My 8th great grandma was from Lau and Lakemba. She was a princess named Adi Mekemeke married to my ancestor, King Finau Ulukalala of Tonga!
despite the uncooperative weather, Chef Jackson managed to create a delightful Fijian meal spread. The cool breeze adds a refreshing touch to the atmosphere. I can almost smell the aroma of the grilled fish infused with lemongrass, chilies, and lime juice. Squeezing that lemon and adding some chilies must have enhanced the flavors even more. It's great to see you enjoying the firm and fresh fish. The heart-shaped fish reminds me of the beautiful Table Island.
The marinated fish in coconut milk with cucumbers, tomatoes, and coriander sounds heavenly. The Fijian technique of tenderizing the fish with lemon juice before cooking it in coconut milk is a brilliant idea. It must have created a perfect balance of flavors. And the dish with octopus cooked in coconut milk sounds equally enticing. The smoky flavor and tenderness of the octopus make it even more delightful. The addition of onions adds a lovely touch to the dish.
The seaweed cakes made from fresh seaweed from the nearby Asawas are intriguing. The natural gelatinous texture and the combination of salinity from the seaweed and sweetness from the coconut cream must have created a unique and rich experience. And let's not forget the fish head soup with lemongrass. The gingery broth with vegetables sounds like the perfect soup for the weather you're experiencing.
It's incredible to see Chef Jackson's culinary skills at work, preparing a prawn curry for the upcoming lunch buffet. The anticipation is building, and I'm sure the curry buffet will be a feast to remember. Enjoy the rest of your cruise, savoring more delicious food and embracing the beautiful surroundings of Makongai Bay. Bon appétit!
Yasawa is another group of islands in Fiji where they say the sea weed is from
Mark is literally touching all corners of the world and taking us with him ! Glad I found his channel a few years ago.
Thank you Mark Weins you truly rock man 🎸 🔥
The fact that we get free food&travel videos on CZcams by the one and only Mark is truly a gift 👍👍👍
Micah with the chili assist was a cool moment. "Want the whole bowl?" 😆 Chip off the ole block.
Thank you Mark for taking us to Fiji and showcase us how beautiful Fiji 🇫🇯
The worse thing to do is watch Mark eat all this yummy food whilst you’re on an empty stomach. Keep up the good work Mark. Sorry I missed you when you visited Sydney.
😂😂😂😂
Wow! Awesome video Mark! Never seen Fijian food before, it looks delicious. Thanks for sharing! 😁🤙
Mark: three cheers for this video! I have been following you for years & this video, for me, a foodie for 55 years, was super. Firstly, I really liked your 2 different blue island shirts. A great change from yourr boring green t-shirt! Secondly, the venue, editing & scenery was super. I've been to numerous south pacific islands but never Fiji! I'm not a cruise person but this 7 day cruise on this small ship was interesting! Of, course the Indian/Fijian fusion cooking is a big draw! I was wondering that why were there no other guests on the cruise? I only saw a crew member eating one meal! Great to see you scuba diving, yes those clams were enormous! Micah enjoyed this cruise a lot! If I come to Fiji , I will look up Captain Cook Cruises & your guide, Andy!
Mica has a wonderful life learning experience. As a last home educator, I wish we could have done this for our youngest son. He graduated at university with a masters degree in medieval languages and literature though x
I grow up with all this food now I am live in USA for over. 30s years Mark if you ask me this bring me back memories? I would say YES
Then come back in fiji..
Wow I'm so impressed. The blue sea the colorful coral its like jewels of the sea God gave us. Thank you for the experience 🙏🏽
Really hope Fiji receives the tourism exposure it deserves. With Mark Wiens videos I have no doubt this will be the case.
You always gotta appreciate Mark exploring these beautiful countries around the world to give us a glance how different cultures prep their way of cooking.#Still waiting on that "Mark Memoir" should definitely be a good read for sure.👌🏼
standing ovation to chef Jackson so awesome him leaving the ship to prepare that delicious meal, enjoyed the cruise thankyou for sharing Mark, Andhy, Ying and Micah
Love love love Fiji thanks mark for
Exploring my island I was born in Fiji .
Yay! Thank you for visiting beautiful Fiji 🇫🇯 My parents are from Fiji and watching this video with my husband and kids has inspired us to visit the beautiful island. The videos has excited our little ones so much. Super excited to plan our visit. We appreciate you for sharing the true beauty of Fiji.
You don’t always hear a lot about Fiji 🇫🇯 but it’s a beautiful place and the food looks amazing! Rich and light at the same time!
He definitely knows you... whole bowl.. He knows dad loves the heat. Thank you for sharing your adventures and beautiful family. Its been great watching you and your family grow over the years. Maybe a beautiful baby girl one day. Blessings
Island food is so fresh and vibrant. Plain but hearty food.
He has come so far....Nearly 10 million subscribers now...I remember him reaching almost a million...When he used to wear that t-shirt,that said "I only travel for FOOD"💘💖
Your son pouring the chilies on the plate for you 😂😂😂
Wow! I am so amazed to see Mark Wiens enjoying the foods in Fiji Islands! I am originally from Fiji but now residing in California.
Proud of you Jackson. Look at that knife he is filleting the fish with. Nice experience, cooking done with love.
We need more Mark in Fijian shirts! 😂 Great video as always thank you
omg, Micah is getting so big! I remember when he was just a little baby being carried around. And now he's holding up a whale bone. My heart is so happy that he's getting to experience all these cool places and cultures as a kid. I am more than determined to do a trip around the world with my two.. eating good food along the way.
Mark's videos are best when you are eating something... 😂
Like the look mark ...i know you have your signature style and brand your self .which is genius however once in awhile a switch up works
Mark is living the dream
Every meal next to a beach ⛱️ is extra delicious 😋
That food looks fresh and tasty. Mark, you look handsome in your cruise wear. Micah is helpful, and he knows what his dad likes to eat. Cute. A young, accomplished traveler is emerging.
Hey Mark! Barely recognized you without your normal green "if it's not spicy I'm not eating" attire... You look good in blue!😂
Blue is his color.
This vlog is better than the other x2 Fijian ones, more interaction n interaction from Mark as we like it
those underwater scenes are epic!
"I'm just gonna eat the shell and all"🙂😆(prawns)that's straight Fijian..thank you for this wonderful video of our beautiful Fiji n lovely dishes n delicacies 🤍
You provided such a cool life for your family 😎
Wow. Fijian foods looks amazing and delicious.
👏👏👏 @ chef Jackson
Mark is just great. His endless energy to describe food quality, texture while eating the same is just amazing. Keep enthralling us with your commentary on various foods.
OMG when Micah said you want the whole bowl of chilis and dumped them on your plate. That was adorable and so cute. He knows you well. LOL. He is so adorable and a mini you for sure!
So Many Beautiful colors within the food!
"the essence, the flavour coming from HEAD". Yes mark, you naughty man
😂😂😂😂
Your vlog reached the next level. It's now not only a food vlog but an excellent mixture of nature and exotic cuisine !
I’ve been to Fiji several times when I lived in New Zealand. Wonderful people. Amazing food. Thanks Mark for taking me back!
One of the main reasons I really appreciate Mark Wiens for and why I watch him, is how he describes each flavor profile. Without even having tried these foods myself, but knowing how most of these ingredients already taste and smell, I can almost taste the food he's describing in such detail.
Fiji is Paradises n full of beautiful islands n fresh fruits n vegetables 😅enjoy fiji time
wow your son is getting big ,blessings . mark hit a home run on this episode, well done.
Mark just took over the cruise and got all individualized love. Tremendous
He did not. Here in Fiji its off season for most resorts hence less visitors. Another thing he travelled to the least visited region in Fiji. If he was in the Western side then you should expect more people to be on the same cruise.
@@emosijougavule2561😂 funny but brutal, they don’t know, I didn’t either. My first thought was, it’s not a popular cruise, or he’s getting preferential treatment .
I love it when Mark points at the food after taking a bite.....
It's great that you had some Indian food on Fiji. I wondered when you said you were having Dahl. Thank you. Can't wait to see more.
Watch the vlog before this. It's all about Indo Fijian food
Dahl is nepali . India is a lot influence from Nepal
When Mark hit that Mmmmmm sound and close he's eyes everyone around him be looking like ok now it's not that good 😂😂😂😂😂
Oh my, such amazing food as always Mark and Ying. You guys are still as awesome as ever.
Thank you for showcasing the different sides of Fiji to the world.
I love the way Mark gives his expression when he eats.
Loving the food and the culture thanks for sharing very information blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Great seeing you visit places that not many tourists go to in the eastern side, and also enjoying the "colorful" comment section from people who don't travel much with their foreign mindset towards eating with hands that's common throughout Asia-Pacific. 😅
Every thing looks wonderful and fresh and delicious!
Absolutely love how you get straight right in there with your hands to eat the food wherever you are. I mean forks and knives were later inventions anyway. 👌
i like it when he uses his hands, the only way to do it.
You can tell the food really excites Mark. His facial expressions are hilarious when he's eating.😂😂😂
Thanks to Mark, I've "traveled" to so many fascinating counties and islands and "eaten" exotic foods (through his videos only). I will probably never be able to go to many of the places he has traveled. Thanks for sharing your experiences, Mark.❤❤❤❤
Amazing Mark!! Looks like you really enjoyed the foods,, not forgetting chilles 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️,, missing 🇫🇯 Fiji a lot🌴🌴🐟🐠
Thanks for all your videos Marko and Yingeh the are phenomenal. World class. I watch them over and over again every day because i love eating
Wow paradise. Fiji is beautiful.
Thank you chef for the sumptuous, salivating and garnished Fijian and Indian meals..God bless and enriched your knowledge in culinary skills.

Fabulous video of the surroundings and all that delicious food was so fun to watch! Thanks so much for sharing! Your son looks like he will be tall as you as fast as he seems to be growing. You are so blessed with a beautiful family!

Thanks Mark for the wonderful videos and food tour of Fiji! The seaweed pie (Lumi) is made from sea moss.
Yes great video. Fiji is beautiful. Thank you soooooo much for explaining about the seaweed "pie". I was googling seaweed "cake". I'm going to make it ASAP.
