In this video I do a difficult track session of 5x600m and 8x300m repeats preparing to run the Olympic trials qualifying time. I will be racing at Stanford in a week and a half, so I also did some hurdle practice. The Olympic trials are hard to qualify for, but I want to give it my absolute best and have no regrets when I look back. Seth might be my favorite training partner of yours so far. Between hitting the times you ask him to, pushing you a little bit beyond, and then having a great attitude and sense of humor, he is a gem.

I do enjoy the pain of foam rolling. Putting your entire bodyweight on it and going up and down the quads, going over a muscle bump. Indescribable feeling
it really is a feeling of "ooh yes, this has to be helping me"

So good to see you're back chasing the Steeple Chase! You're gonna rock it. Love your mindset - I'm doing it because I want to, and I'm excited about it. I've been adopting this mindset for my training and racing after finding myself doing it because I felt I had to and getting way too serious about it. Having a relaxed, fun mindset makes life/running so much better 😊

Always great seeing you workout at my old high school stadium. New track though and that is a super good improvement from the black coal dust cinders. I'm sure the hurdling technique will come back very soon.

Can't wait to watch you dominate the steeplechase field at the trials. Only 68 days. Woohoo! BTW, "For the Folks" coffee works really well in the espresso machine. It took a while to dial it in, but once dialed in it was smooth.

Love the crazy dietary food tricks people choose. Lentils by the can raw, that's got to be a first and maybe a new trend! I remember seeing a guy eating a raw potato like an apple during a marathon.
Not raw, just unheated. It's fully cooked as it's canned. It's actually a good idea. It's healthy. The only "negative" is the high sodium content. But if you're not a sponsored Element athlete, that's a plus for athletes looking to replace the salts they sweated out during their workouts.
they are cooked! It's a lentil soup, so there's seasoning too. We looked at the nutrition facts, and the only downside is that there is quite a bit of fiber which slows absorption of nutrients after a workout.

You know, you're not the only athlete in Seattle who has this Olympic dream. Ray Wells Jr is a sprinter who went to Nationals in the 60 earlier this year, and he's trying to qualify for the 100 in Paris. I think you two should meet up!

Yes the field of runner math is becoming quite advanced, but so far I have been able to stay on top of the latest developments. It's a hard job, but someone has to do it.

Glad I’m not the only athlete who does over 180 😅 when I swim and do pulse checks I hit 180 at least twice every two hours lol it’s not good
Edit: before y’all come at me I’m a distance swimmer so I’m doing things like this with major pacing and I’m easily at 180
getting over 180 during high intensity work is totally normal!

At 2:39 into the video I was able to stop/"freeze" a frame and see that your training partner had "Trader Joe's Organic Lentil and Vegetable Soup." (I couldn't see the label near the end when he was eating it, so I had to go back and check near the beginning.) I like lentils.
Whoops! I looked again, and the correct title of the soup does not have the word "and" in it, but my observation and report were otherwise correct.
Hey Allie- I have a burning question. I recently got a pair of NNormal Tomir 1s, discounted since the 2s are rolling out.
What's up with this lacing pattern? Is that a Euro thing? Did you keep it that way or did you pull them out and relace?
(ok, so that's 3 questions, mostly I'm curious what you did)
Do you mean how the laces are on the bottom side at the top? I don't know if that's euro, but I always just keep them the way they are.
@@allie_ostrander yes, starting at the toe end, they lay the middle of the lace on top and run the laces down through the holes, rather than running the laces up through those first two holes (trying to explain better to anyone who hasn't seen them). Thanks :-)

I liked the 1, but the 2 is not great tbh. I've just kept using them because they're expensive.

my paces during treadmill workouts are completely different because I do incline workouts.

for trails, NNormal Kjerag, for road racing Nike Vaporfly, for road running Hoka Mach X, but I like pretty minimal shoes, so you should go to a local shoe store and have them give you recommendations specific to your feet and strike pattern.
