I really liked this review and your critiques, it was different than a lot of other reviews I’ve seen of the show and that was refreshing.
I also thought it was weird that Ginny did all those things with Marcus so fast within the first two days of moving to a new town, but I read an interesting post online that attributed that impulsive behavior to a coping mechanism borne out of trauma. It was a way for Ginny to regain control over her sexuality and bodily autonomy after her creepy stepdad touched her. Idk if that’s what the writers were intending, but I think Ginny’s romantic relationships make more sense when viewing them from that perspective. Otherwise the only explanation is that she’s a teenager ruled by hormones and they’re trying to show how she’s similar to her mom. But I think all of those explanations can exist at once.
You know what, now that you say it, I definitely can see how her experience with the stepfather could play a part in her behavior. Hadn’t thought of it that way. I think the reasons coexist like you stated.... thank you for watching love. I appreciate it. 💗
I just finished the show tbh I dont feel like it needs a season 2. The lesson/moral of the show is that people change and act the way they do because of what they dealing with behind close doors and nobody wouldn't understand but them. It's also you gotta do what's best for you to make it day by day to survive no matter how much hearts you break.(That's why the flower was symbolic of symbolism as giving someone a heart attack)
Also I Cracked the majority of the charcaters and why they act the way they act

That’s immediately what I took it as. When I was younger I had a ton of grooming experiences with men and my way of getting that out was to full fledge embrace my sexuality in some questionable ways that I thought made sense at the time. She’s trying to reclaim her body and grasp onto anything that can make her feel like she has control again, even if it comes with unintentionally hurting some people in the process, as it’s the only way she knows to feel complete or empowered. She’s a kid acting from trauma and bad coping mechanisms, the logical “what if I get pregnant and turn into my mom” thought isn’t in her head at all.
What trauma? We haven't seen it yet. Moving around is not traumatic unless you are living in a hostel, in a car, or on the street. I am not sure we should give them a season to make up something because I doubt she will ever be someone we like.
"you're so like exotic looking" she clearly looks half black and half white, it's not that hard Jennifer
😂😂😂 right
Yeh but people really be saying this shit
@@sabakalshoven7824 me too it makes me feel so WIRED inside . Like now WHAT do you want me to say thank you or something. It just Freaks me out
I’ve been called exotic (mixed black and white too) and I was jus like ok didn’t realize I was an exotic animal
I’ve been called they before by some cashier at a grocery store me and my mom go to and I was like 💀 I didn’t say anything bc my mom was friends with that lady for yearss and I know she probably meant well but it still felt so weird
Ginny: *says something racist*
Hunter: *returns the energy*
Ginny: 😱😨🤯😤😦😮
Edit: Nvm I rewatched the show, they said some messed up bs but hunter gave Ginny a taste of her own medicine. . It was quite racist now that I watched again.
Hunter never said anything racist, what’s your point? And what Ginny said wasn’t racist, it was just ignorant and rude.
@@iLikeCok I think that she means that Hunter called her out with her bullsh*t lol she was acting as if she didn't win the prize because she's a minority when Hunter is too, she's incapable to accept that she did something wrong and it HAS to be because she's black when it's really not about that, even though the teacher ended up being racist, she didn't win because she simply didn't follow the assignment. Also, she did call him not asian enough (I don't know if that would be considered racist but either way it was so clearly wrong) when she complais all the time about struggling with that exact same problem.
@@iLikeCok Nah they were both racist but Ginny started it making funn of how Hunter isnt Asian enough cus he knows more Korean that he does.
@@idkhtcmsitt this, but the English teacher is NOT racist
@@iLikeCok it was racist. that whole "how black are you then?" statement was racist along with Ginny's "I'm more Asian than you" statement
My biggest problem is that Ginny has such a main character complex. Abby literally came out saying that she struggles with body dysmorphia and family issues, and Ginny has the audacity to be like “well I have problems too 🥺🥺” and everyone laughed it off. Justice for Abby.
It’ll definitely be interesting to see what happens with Abby next season.
THANK U
wait this didn’t even happen though
@@swxrn yeah, all she said was that her parents got divorced 🤔
@@swxrn it happened season 1 ep 8 where Abby starts going off about her problems and that she needed her friend but then Ginny just out right made it about her and literally just being like well ur problem isn’t as bad as mine so u don’t have the right to be as upset as u are about not having the one thing that can maybe u in this situation
Just imagine
-You ran out of your boyfriend's parents house with your daughter to protect her
-You married a man 2 decades older than you to keep your daughter with you legally
-You kick your sister out of your life because she was not taking good care of your daughter
-You killed a man because he was harassing your daughter
-You did everything for your daughter to protect her from the things you went through
And after some years your same daughter says you dont understand anything, calls you a liar and runs off with your son away from her privilege life.
Seriously I feel sad for Georgia
Edit: I wrote this comment just after finishing S1, when S2 wasn't even premiered. Now I've watched S2 too and I can see a lot more about Ginny than before, we all can.
This.
YES YES YESSSSS I HATE GINNY SO MUCH
seriously! ginny is definitely in the top 5 worst characters in my book
Lol ginny owes nothing to her for that. She didn't used protection and had her and she have to take care of her kids. She ran out of her bfs place cause she was self entitled if she would have thought about ginny she would have let her stay at her grandparents cause she would get a better environment there both mentally and financially. She kicked her sister cause she got to know she was given money to spy on her by the detective.🕵️♀️ she killed a man cause she wanted to inherit his 💫property 💫 cause if she wanted revenge for harrasing her daughter she could approach police; confronted him etc
@@harrypotter5703 She could’ve left Ginny with the grandparents but that is easier said than done. “She should’ve used protection” what about Ginny’s father that was sleeping with a 15 year old homeless girl? She kicked her sister out because the sister left baby Ginny in the tub by herself… you are referring to the second time she kicked her out OP is talking about the first time. Why would she kill that man for inheritance when she was freely living off his money? You do know going to the police doesn’t help if there’s no proof right? You can’t just go to the police and say “he was feeling on my daughter” and boom he’s locked up lol
I thought it was annoying how Ginny stated that she felt too black for the white kids and too white for the black kids but she maneuvered the white crowd pretty easily but avoided the other black girl the entire season. They only bond when Ginny faces racism with the teacher in that one episode and runs to the bathroom.
Yea that was pretty messed up.
But that's how it usually happens in real life I see it all the time.
@@faithd2834 I have to disagree because in the black community with black women biracial women are more desired and seen as beautiful than dark skin full black women and young black girls catch on to this at a young age and try to befriend the biracial girls so I call bs
@Char Bear yeah you’re probably right but let’s be honest if you’re complaining that you’re too white for the black crowd but openly turning down the only black girls that’s making an effort to be your friend and putting up with white kids who make racist jokes about you, mock your natural hair and are ignorant to your experience then can you really complain about not being accepted? I think she just wanted acceptance from a certain demographic and it wasn’t the black girl/kids 🤷🏿♀️
Mixed people and “nonconventional” black people operate like this in real life lol. “I’m too white for the black people, but too black for the white people.” YET they conveniently enough always find a way to put up with the white folks and shun the black folks when allegedly both sides are impossible for them to navigate. Personally, I consider it anti-blackness.
im sorry but if marcus wasn't attractive it would just be creepy. imagine your neighbor sneaking in your window unannounced at night
That's my whole point! You're hot you get an easy pass.
Attractive or not, if someone climbs through my window like that, Imma throw hands.
@@bunnyhungry7367 preach
That's a good example of pretty privilege
Yeah, I never thought their interaction was "cute"
honestly the adults were way more likeable than the children like it was like night and day
Agreed.
EXACTLY! It’s also so obvious this show is another example of writers who have no idea how gen z coming of age children actually act😂
As a biracial person, (black parent & white parent) we don't claim ginny.
😂😂😂😂
No we don’t 😭
lmaoo
This needs more likes😂😭
Damn right!
Another issue is Ginny saying she isn't black enough for the black people but, when she is invited to hang out she is always finding a reason not to go. She purposefully separated herself from them and only talks to the black people when all her white friends dumped her.
Exactly!
You’re right! I meant to add that. About her only wanting to hang with them when her white friends stopped talking to her.
The biracials I kno in real life always be doing this
@@danny_chestnut253 there’s another biracial girl at my school who does this and I always found it so weird. I tend to hang out with more black people and she’s always hanging out with the preppy white ones while looking at others like they’re less than.
Yesss she was annoying af!
It really annoyed me when Ginny and Hunter were having an argument about the english essay, Ginny put it in the wrong format, and she assumed her teacher was being racist.
Well ,it was passive racism. As a teacher you’re supposed to encourage your students to think outside of the box and the fact that she found a creative way to tell her story shouldn’t have disqualified her from the competition. If anything, it gave her a leg up.
true, it was an essay competition, even if it was great it wouldnt have passed the requirement smh
Essays can be poetry y'all.
@@theimplications635 yes i know but in the story poetry wasnt part of the essay and it was supposed to be in an essay format
@xDaisy that's the thing essay format can still be poetry. Idk about the world of Ginny and Georgia but IRL they want you to make your essays memorable and playing with the format is encouraged. Hunter's essay sounded boring and dumb like a 4th grader wrote it. It was too generic to believably win.
That scene where Abby was crying about her friends not being there while her parents were going through a divorce, and the Ginny saying “I’ve had family issues too. It’s not always about you” was the final strike in my liking for her. I couldn’t even believe she would say something like that, if I were Abby I’d never speak to her again
Also, I don’t think the essay thing was a “racial moment”. She wrote a poem, not an essay, so it makes sense that she didn’t win. It was good, but not what they asked for.
Exactly
She is 15 so i guesse its happens lol
We can’t pretend like Abby wasn’t being mean to her though, and anytime Ginny was opening up about something she was in the corner rolling her eyes or huffing and puffing…which is probably why she said that
YES! It wasn't a creative writing assignment, it was an essay. She's lucky she didn't get a 0 and told to redo it
exactly!! i got so frustrated when she was angry about the writing assignment when she was the one that literally did it wrong… it’s not a racial attack on you just because you did the assignment wrong and everyone else did it right
Ginny tried too hard to have mommy issues and act as if she’s a “relatable teen”
Also the fact that she CHEATED on Hunter and then acted the victim like?
nah fr she always trying to play the victim card but literally she was the entire problem in the show
I think Ginny ain’t shit . The way she talk to her mom is unacceptable.
💀
Oh wow lol she definitely had her moments of being disrespectful but do you have any empathy for her? What she was dealing with with her step dad, never having friends, learning of her mother’s lies etc?
Rightt 💀
@@TheBlushBunny but Ginny is a hypocrite she has secrets too. And that fact that she never try to understand her also in the first Episode she told her mom she don’t care what she went through to give her a better life. So no empathy for her because she does not have any for her own mom. Also after he learns her mom was abused ,she don’t treat her mom any better thus Ginny Ain’t SHIT.
@@glosstingz6676 🤔 touché ... that’s something that also bothered me. Her not having empathy for her mother.
I actually really like the part where Ginnys boyfriend gives her a reality check that’s she isn’t the only one who struggles with stereo typing.
Yea I thought that moment worked well.
except ginny didnt learn anything but yeah
@@mickidoesmedia and the entire internet didn’t learn anything cuz they took the clip of him talking out of context and used it as an example of anti-blackness, completely ignoring the part where Ginny was blatantly racist to Hunter so he used her own logic against her
@@bitchlasagna1 they were both wrong in that dumb argument
except that they both just started seeing who's the most opressed
the forced racism is so true😭ginny failed that essay thing because she did it like poetry not because she's black. things like this DO happen but they showed it in a wrong way.. she also thinks black people (funny bc she's lightskin and mixed not even completely black) is the only race that can have stereotypes and be opressed..
I really dislike the term “victim mindset,” because I’ve only ever seen it use to invalidate people who have a genuine right to be upset, but Ginny man 😭
Telling her friend to stop “making it all about her 🙄”
Girls not just gaslighting she’s the whole GAS STATION 😭
@@NearsightedNarhwallove the way u pointed out how that term is used to shut people up. someone talking about how slavery very much had a negative effect for poc in the country isn’t victim, but i’ve seen people be called a victim for that and it’s so dumb and invalidating. but when we’re talking about miss virginia miller, yeah, she’s a professional victim. even in the situations not regarding her race, she always made it about her. it was so odd
Hey, I agree with what you said but the "not even completely black" is not really an okay statement to make. Biracial people get flack all the time about not being "completely" one or the other and it's always insensitive to our experiences. Ginny may have privilege because of her lighter skin tone but she's still a Black woman. Just because she's also half-white shouldn't take that away from her.
Honestly my favourite character in the show is Joe. He's just the sweetest and he listens to everyone's problems. Maybe that's his way of escaping his own issues but he clearly cares about Georgia and he doesn't hesitate to show it. I honestly want to learn more about his character and i want to see his relationship with Georgia blossom.
Love joe!
Joe is the best.
yesss, I love that storyline!!!!
Absolutely! Ngl tho I think he deserves better than Georgia lol
Love Joe, but my favorite might be Ellen haha
Ginny annoyed me I like many of the characters but she was constantly victimizing herself and always jumped to conclusions about people for no reason. i feel like they were trying to create a intelligent teen who knows what she wants or something but instead she came off really bratty, selfish, and annoying.
Honestly it made her a realistic teen to me tbh lmao. All the ones Iv met who take themselves too seriously often come off that way and even ones who dont STILL come off selfish, bratty, and annoying because they are still children and thats just how children act lmfao 😂🤷🏽♀️😂 Its actually funny to me wen ppl makes teens out to be that way as if its some anomaly wen its a staple of that time in a persons life we often like to think that we weren't that way and think of ourselves as more mature at the age of 16 but thats also just another selfish and partial picture of ourselves that we create to feel better about who we are. Not denying wat ur saying she was annoying and selfish as all hell, but maybe try to give her and yourself a little grace because lets be honest we all are at 16 cause we were literal children acting like children should 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
@@betee2555 maybe people who were 16 a long time ago acted that way but I don’t feel anyone that I’ve known has especially gen z I feel most of us are legitimately more mature then most adults. Also I would like to see a show portray teenagers as something other then bratty cause I don’t act like that towards anyone in my life...idk it just kinda seems like an aged stereotype of what teenagers are like in my opinion. I’m not saying some teens can’t be like that but most including me aren’t bratty...
@@PP-ud2jz Its interesting how we see ourselves and others tho isn't it? Being bratty isnt some constant thing and its not even always viewed as a negative thing. Im sure u or ur friends hav been bratty and its been celebrated as standing up to authority, otherwise seen in a positive light, or labeled passive aggressive/petty. No one really likes to see themselves or others they care about (aka: friends) in negative light teenagers are just as bratty now as they hav ever been we just hav synonyms lmao. Are we forced to grow up faster due to our increasingly quick introduction to how shit the world is due to the internet? Yes. Does that make us more mature then the ones who came before us? Maybe, but I think it just makes us better informed. U can only make choices based on the information afforded to you. Teens are still bratty just in different ways then they were in the past and different terms are used to describe the behavior but thats the case for every generation. Every generation thinks they are better then the last/ the one soon to be it almost seems human nature. Iv seen plenty of teens act exactly or very closely to how Ginny acts in real life and we've all probably done it ourselves on occasion I feel like gen z are often the most self aware and unaware at the same damn time, funny shit tbh 😂😂😂
@@betee2555 she definitely came off as annoying as a character... Its not that hard to portray teenagers are selfish and immature but still likable... The best example is devi from never have I ever... She is selfish and on multiple occasions was rude and ungrateful to her mother and her 2 best friends but she was never an annoying character... Her problems were shown in such a way that the viewers understand why she acts that way... Also almost all the teenage characters from sex education as well... All characters are flawed but extremely interesting to watch...
@@vp98215 I think wats annoying and wat isn't is about personal perception tbh. I find her as annoying as I do every other teenage character. But tbh Im an annoying ass person myself so maybe Im slightly immune lmao idk

I couldn’t stand the way she treated the black girl that offered to hang out with her multiple times, she complained about being too black for white kids but when the opportunity was there she didn’t take it, and was really avoiding the black girl. Her “friend group” wasn’t real friends at all in my opinion, very fake. hopefully she learns that next season and finds REAL GOOD friendships.
And many people pointed out that she only started talking to the black girl after her friends cut her off. Says a lot.
Friends are actually a really hard thing to have if you really think about it
This show forces racism like Disney forces feminism
Oop 🤭
Damn
exactly, it’s so obviously pandering
Disney never forces feminism lmao
@@sassyqueen9739 They kinda do. There are no shows anymore where the lead is a guy. They always have girl power videos everywhere. I am okay with feminism to a point but it is overwhelming. I'm a young teen so I watched Disney still but I couldn't anymore cause it just got old. I wonder how the little boys felt. There was nothing for them really. They should make it equal not just cater to one gender.
Edit: Since everyone is pitching a fit over me saying "boy power" I removed it. Just for y'alls information by "boy power" I mean telling boys it's okay to be different then the picture society painted for them. I don't mean overwhelming in a mean way I mean like it's just there all the time in moments that don't make sense
The moment she said something along the line of “The avengers is so basic” after her friends wanted to do the Halloween costumes with that theme, I just knew she’s awful.
i think the reason why she said that was because the sam girl said that lana del ray was basic when ginny said that she liked lana del ray’s music.

I also love how Hunter called her out on her bs, and i think he said those things back to her so she can see how hypocritical she sounded, not bc he actually meant them.
Glad you appreciated it, too!

The things hunter said were offensive, but in a case like that it’s justified. especially with ginny cuz she’s a lil odd, but i think people need to evaluate that scene more

As someone who is 15 years old, Ginny is NOTHING like a regular 15 year old at all. Like a lot of what she does doesn’t make any sense and isn’t at all anything like any person who is in either 9th or 10th grade. She is like what 50 yr olds think teenagers act like
Well, that’s fair lol
Rightt
As a middle school teacher I think she's pretty accurate to a limited portion of my students that get to spend too much time online.
that's something Ginny would say lol
social engineering to manifest 15 year olds behaving the way Ginny is. trillions of dollARS goes into ensuring this outcome.
One thing I hate about Ginny's character, is that she ALWAYS gaslighting her mother to reveal childhood trauma. If someone doesn't feel comfortable revealing things like abuse or traumatic experiences, then don't pressure them too. She's always "if you truly love me, you would tell me..." Let Georgia tell u those things when she's ready and comfortable.
Right ! Like we get you want to know because your her daughter but your not the one who went through it and had to tell the story, that’s like a whole do over type of life . To even have to remember all of that when your trying to forget .
That’s not gaslighting. Gaslighting is if someone systematically manipulates someone into doubting their own perception so that they don’t trust their own reality anymore. It’s a severe form of abuse that leaves the victim believing they have psychosis.
@kory yes, thank you.
THIS, my mother struggles with her emotions and stuff because of her traumatic childhood and can be emotionally withdrawn but I know its not her fault, she’s only the product of her environment of an endless cycle. my sister on the other hand is a little insensitive and can push a little too hard when it comes to my mother’s past, but i have never tried to pressure my mother into information about her past, of course im bound to be curious about my family history but im not dying to know about it. if my mother isnt comfy talking abt it i dont press, you don’t have a right to know everything abt someone’s life because you’re in love with them or love them or are related to them, everyone has a few secrets and that’s human, that’s healthy. whether if it’s something traumatic or just some embarrassing thing like the time u pooped ur pants that one time AND georgia is so respectful as a mother, she never presses ginny about talking to her abt anything, she still takes care of her and shows her unconditional love despite ginny being DOWNRIGHT disrespectful. georgia knows something is up with ginny and marcus but she isn’t gonna force her daughter to say anything she doesnt want to and will come to her when she can, that’s good parenting. but ginny somehow thinks shes entitled to know everything abt her mother even when she isnt comfy revealing it ??
People learn a word and then use it for everything even if it doesn’t make sense. What Ginny did was awful but it was not gaslighting
I absolutely HATED what they did with the whole ' Gay bestie" thing . they tried to make it somewhat different with the whole ' she's a girl not a boy so that's not stereotyping' when they legitimately made the fact that she was gay into her whole personality. I also thought that it was just trying to hard to be like shameless. - from a queer
Many people are saying this. Hope the writers take note.
Exactly, she also just casually calls another girl a d*ke because she’s butch :/
Honestly, Max was annoying asf
I will say, I have met girls just like Max… they exist and they are the people you run from. I wish they designed her character differently.
AND she just had to be a theater kid 😅
I'm Latina (Peruvian-Venezuelan specifically), I definitely agree w/ the whole "oh hey, u're like me, let's talk!!" thing, I found out the kid sitting in front of me in my Religion class was Colombian and felt much more comfortable talking to him, same with the girl sitting next to me in History after finding out she was Venezuelan
A sense of community is so important.
@@TheBlushBunny it is important.
Same! I’m Colombian but there seems to be no Colombian or South American in the areas I’ve lived in here in the states. Sure there’s some Mexicans but it’s not the same, the culture and way of speaking is very different. I also wish our culture and community was portrayed more in the media. These shows are great at showing a diverse group of people but the Latino community always seems to be missing or lacking a presence.
@@AmoreMiu I always forget Colombians aren't a prevalent community everywhere. The city in Ontario (Canada) I live in has SO MANY Colombians, but it's to a point where the Latino community became a Colombian community and everyone else is kinda shut out
But I do agree w/ u, I wish there was more representation for us within media (also I wish ppl understood that Latinos don't just look like the stereotype they're portraid as in media, but that's a other story)
I also thought the racism was too forced and almost was an excuse that Ginny fell back on. I think the white writers just decided to wing it .
Just writing any old thing lol they gotta do better next season. And the black writers need to dig deeper as well.
it did seem forced with the teacher and the whole stealing thing, but the way outlandish thing was the fact that they ‘couldn’t’ find her foundation shade, when she was literally the same shade if not lighter than the asian girl in their group.

i think ginny is SUPER selfish and that whole scene where her friend was like “i needed you” crying her eyes out and Ginny was just like “yeah well i’m going through stuff too. it’s not all about you” really made me hate her
i honestly didn’t like either of them in that moment... abby didn’t speak up about what was going on, then dramatically called a meeting with her friends to shame them for not being there for her. granted, it is important to check in on one’s friends, but realistically, your friends might not know you are struggling unless you tell them. it’s normal (but not great) for friends to not notice changes in their friend’s behavior because they are all wrapped up in their own stuff. either way, it was the wrong time for ginny to pull the “me too! what about me?” card
but honestly her friends were selfish trash. all four of them were going through stuff but acted liked ginny was the only one obligated to help them out. and her friend maxine really was the worst of all. a ‘me me me’ eccentric who has to have everyones attention at all times omg

And Max was just annoying asf and over the top
My problem with Ginney is that she never takes fault for her actions. When she is confronted about cheating she immediately admits it but also attempts to shift the blame onto someone else. And some how they just leave it at that and she is forgiven?
Dont get me started on how when her life goes horribly (again cause of her own actions alot of the time) she takes it out on her mother, she judges her moms sexuality and date life and even tries to put the father her was hardly in her life over the mother her stayed and did everything for ginny.
What bugs me even more is that when she does face any consequences (like when she cheated in her bf and lost her friends) she acts like she is the victim in all this.

I don't like Marcus that much, yeah he is very attractive but he is creepy. The guy climbed into a girl's bedroom multiple times without her consent with the intent to sleep with her. HOW IS THAT NOT WEIRD?? And the fact that Ginny never once called him out on it and instead went with it?? It makes no sense. I genuinely think Marcus only gets away with his creepy behaviour because he is attractive.
See... I started to address this fact as well but I don’t know if people are ready for those types of truths. lol but I absolutely agree with you.
You are totally right! Teenage boys who do that can be so creepy. But not everyone reacts the same way to stuff, I didn’t really think of Marcus as creepy but after seeing this Marcus is rly creepy
I agree, and I didn't even register it as creepy at first but when I rewatched it was pretty clearly sus. honestly i was cool with the character the first time watching and he grew on me but after the rewatching i went back to not liking him
Ya- like nobody sees past the looks
Idk this might actually be accurate to how teenagers can be sometimes. I’ve had friends be literally r****, abused, or gaslit by “cute” or “popular” boys. Some would even go on to date them, but didn’t come to terms with that fact until they got older. I agree tho it’s weird af and honestly sad.
Bro I'm 15 and a girl and this is literally not what any normal 15 year old acts like. Also the fact that she treats her mother so badly I'm sorry but my mum would throw me out of this world.
i will never recover from the scene where hunter went „opression olympics, right now!“… that fr scarred me for life i‘ve never felt this embarassed by fellow pocs.
😂😂😂
I personally hated Ginny’s character all together. I felt like everything was so forced and a lot of the racial tension scenes fell flat. They seemed like a walking trope of a sort.
True.
I kind of agree. Ginny just sees herself has a victim all the time. But, she is a teenager, so that's sort of to be expected. And I think the other characters (particularly her mom and Hunter), do a good job of putting her in her place
It woulda been cool to see an actual representation of the whole “being too white for black AND white people” that some racialized black and biracial people face lol
That’s how most of these shows go which is why I never try any of them today. It’s like issues are tried to some effect but it’s conveyed in this weird satire or parody like manner with how it doesn’t commit or it isn’t convincing and some cannot connect with it? Internet talks 24/7 about issues has also ruined its prevalence in media outside of documentaries today (in my opinion) and everybody is desensitized to it.
@@micahcook2408 a person wouldn’t understand “ not white enough but not black enough” unless they were biracial. I am blk and Chinese and yes, I’m not black enough but not Asian enough either. that just pissed me off, ginny is far from a perfect mother but she does her best, everything she does, she does for her kids and she loves them, everything she does for them it is in love and with good intent so to hear her say that was ??? like yes environment impacts your decisions as you grow older but georgia never made ginny do any of that, she wants to act grown then she should take responsibility for her own decisions, because georgia didn’t make those decisions for her, she did. she has nobody to blame but herself, ginny is just v disrespectful towards her mother and its so frustrating
I think a lot of the things people dislike about ginny's actions, like not understanding her mom and making bad decisions is partially just what being a teenager is like. The writing is problematic but sometimes so are teenagers. i also really like this review
Very true.
And thanks for watching love 💗
Ok but.. what bad decisions did Ginny actually ever make? I mean besides stealing and somewhat cheating? yeah she can be a handful but still she isn't all that horrible people make her seem. she's literally just a teenager.

I think there’s a black guy too. No?
Either way still not enough. (I said that like it made a big difference 🥴😂)
Ok, so Ginny & Georgia was shot in my province. My sister and I visited the sets before. On our initial visit to the set, the main actresses for Ginny and Georgia were there, but the costumes and side character casting were different. The actress for Georgia also did not speak with a Southern accent. My theory is that this show went through some rewrites to better suit Netflix's target. Eventually, the rewrites had an emphasis on racial issues.
@@EbonyPenmarks makes sense a lot of the Netflix teen movies are all relatively the same and they always dumb down certain aspects of these shows
It almost seems like the racism struggles on the show are written by Twitter white teenagers.
Yea I love Georgia and how she gets her daughter’s blackness a little. When she said something about her hair I was like 👏👏 and when Ginny straightened it and Georgia was like “but … I liked you old hair.” Because I honestly think Ginny did it to fit in with her friends
Then Ginny said sum “then you wear it” omg I wanted to slap her
Omg I totally agree with you. In another video I saw some people commenting that they understood Ginny for saying “Then you wear it” cause Georgia’s comment sounded like she didn’t understand anything, but in fact she was just completing her and trying to not straight her hair just to be accepted.
@@Beatz123 she knew she couldn't where it cause she's naturally a blonde straight haired women but she said it anyways.

I actually like Bracia and I feel like Ginny did her really dirty. She blew her off and wouldn't give her the time of day until her other friends didn't want anything to do with her. I would have given her the same energy back, but Bracia was cool and supported her while everyone else shunned her.
I’m sorry but Ginny is a huge brat. Georgia is an amazing mother, she’s supportive and understanding and does everything for Ginny’s well-being, yet Ginny makes everything about herself and being insanely rude to Georgia.
True.
Ginny is one of the most annoying main characters ever
Alright but you have to put yourself in Ginny's perspective as well; imagine your own mother made you move houses, friends and cities all the time and keeps you from having a stable lifestyle; imagine your mother hid the fact she had a sister and grandparents from you; imagine finding out she's a liar, hides a bunch of things and killed someone. Us watchers whilst viewing the show know Georgia's perspective and can feel for her, but Ginny being her DAUGHTER.... that has got to be hard....
@@kylaraymone4019 abeg we all know the reason why Georgia hid ginny from her grade and sister and even Ginny later found out why, so just scratch that off your list, no matter what Georgia was always trying to reason with Ginny and she was always acting like a brat and even making fun of her own mother in front of her friends, is that right, Ginny is just really disrespectful to sum it up
i can understand why someone would think of her as a brat. But i think that she in fact is deeply traumatized by all the moving, the secrets and failed promises, maybe also the sexual assault by her stepdad, missing her real father etc etc. And besides that she is in puberty so finding her identity is hard enough. And again: I get why she comes across like a brat but i think there are reasons for her behavior
I'm not even a fan of Taylor but every time I see her talking she's talking facts
Ginny is honestly such a brat and she doesn't realize how much her mother sacraficed for her. She's too busy being "different" from everyone else.
The way Ginny spoke to Georgia was unacceptable and rude and Ginny was just so ungrateful about everything when a lot of people would be grateful to have a mom like Georgia
Yea the lack of empathy and appreciation was apparent.
I will add that as someone who has their mom dating while a teenager, it can really make you resent them for it over time. we don’t know how georgia handled these relationships but from personal experience depending on how the parent handles it you can be left feeling like their new partner is the priority and sometimes it really is but usually it just feels that way. especially if you don’t like the partner, as ginny expressed at some points she didn’t like a lot of them (esp the last husband yikes). but all that being said, I’ve never even considered talking to my mother the way she does at times. especially after her telling her more about her past she barely showed any empathy which was really upsetting.
Agreed, as someone who comes from a really cold and conventional household, I would love to have a Mom who i could connect with, and who I could actually go to with my problems and she would support me like Georgia does
Right? I love my mom very much, but she is extremely busy and doesn't have a lot of time for me and my siblings. So it was annoying how much Ginny took Georgia for granted, whether it was the party she spent a lot of time and energy setting up or anything she would do for her.
I know i would be very grateful 🙋🏽♂️
I also ain’t forget how Abby and Nora set Ginny up and lied about her stealing from that one store. Then they never addressed it ever again and I don’t even think that they apologized either. They were all terrible friends
Right? They acted like it never happened.
Right, and then Ginny was racially profiled, and they didn't stick up for her or even try to clear her name. They took it too far and should've said they persuaded her to shoplift. Had Georgina not been there, Ginny could've faced jail time due to being racially profiled
They did apologize. They showed up with tons of different make up shades in hopes of finding one to match her complexion and she was like "why" and they were like "because we feel bad, you're our friend."
@@kimberlykasupski6498 that’s not an apology they did it because max was mad at them too

then when hunter says the same thing back she get so shocked like what
I hope Ginny finally learns how much of a struggle it is by yourself with a child like how her mom had to go through
Yea she doesn’t appreciate her mom at all.
I’m not gonna lie Marcus was pretty toxic but I feel like he’s the better fit for Ginny. She seemed way more open and felt more comfortable around him than she did with Hunter. Cause while she does have feelings for Hunter she was really pressured into that relationship by her friends. He’s a good guy and he doesn’t deserve the hate he gets but I just don’t think him and Ginny click like that.
Agreed. Zero chemistry. They would make good friends though.
I think both ginny and marcus need therapy before they get into any relationships
Marcus deserves better tbh. And I don't even like him.
I think Marcus is bad but that Ginny and him deserve each other. Everybody in the friend group is going the extra mile for Ginny for no reason like she's the most amazing person, they don't even treat eachother like that although they've been friends for years. Marcus is full of flaws but so is Ginny and that's why they make more sense as a pair.
She’s not good enough for Marcus
Ginny only cared about racism when it benefited her to call it out. Exhibit A: the essay. She wanted a better grade and to get into the contest so she pulled the racism card. While the teacher was clearly biased in his other actions, she put it in the wrong format.
Agreed. I think the character of the teacher is a bit caricatural in a way too. He could have told her that her while it didn't fit the assigment, her writing was good and poetic and redirect her to a class/contest where that is encouraged.
This wole essay thing was really weird!
I feel like you guys are missing part of the Halloween party interaction w/ Ginny and the black girl she keeps curving.
Read the room, literally, Ginny just finished twerking in front of a room full of white people. The black girl is not really checking her for her costume but how playing both sides can be damaging.
As a black woman that dance scene made me super uncomfortable because of hyper-sexualization (at some point there’s also a really awkward racial comment by some dude bro about Ginny’s ass). When I was Ginny’s age I did dumb stuff like that with my majority white friends without thinking of how black bodies have been put on display for entertainment and profit throughout history. Ginny didn’t get that she was playing out a minstrel fantasy for those kids at a deeper level. I’m sure other black people have gotten comments about how they’re supposed to be good dancers etc in their lives.
Before I get comments about how it’s just a dance party- tell me why they asked *Ginny* specifically to start twerking? And none of her fake friends joined in?
But it was here choice to act a fool. She doesn't represent black people 😂😂but I think I know what you're talking about
I understand your point and I do think it has to do with the context but I also think that maybe that scene was trying to show exactly what you're talking about, just her doing dumb sh*t and not knowing how to act feeling like she doesn't fit in with white people or with black people. That scene clearly focuses on teenagers doing stupid sh*t, all of them get super drunk and embarrass themselves. And I think the girl did judge her for her costume too, like "why are you trying to act white when you're not" kinda thing, because she asked her "What are you?" when Ginny clearly was Britney and then said "That's what you picked?" in a sarcastic way, which to Ginny replies that it wasn't her idea as if she needed to justify herself. It's clearly so wrong to judge her for that, the costume doesn't have to do with race in my opinion, it was a group costume with her friends, they all went as Bitney. Also I might be wrong but I don't think it's fair to judge her for playing both sides when she's part of both cultures.
Yeah you're trying to hard. Ginny was asked because she's the main character... not everything is racist and sexist or deep.
I'm sorry but... Now we gotta think about how we wanna dance?? Even dancing is offensive or dismissive or degrading now? Like... It's just a dance. Doing it or not has nothing to do with race. Sexualization, yes. Race? Hell no

Am I the only one who noticed how toxic MANG was? They didn’t even seem like real friends just some people to hang out if they were bored. They didn’t stick up for each other or help one another.
For me one of the scenes that really made me realize how toxic they were was when Abby was sad her parents were getting a divorce and no one was there for her at all. And then Ginny was like ‘I was having problems with family too’ which is true but, then she said ‘don’t make everything about you’ after she, Max and Nora ignored her (Abby) for a whole week? Abby isn’t perfect by any means and can be really rude but, at least she doesn’t blame everyone for things out of their control. She’s mad her only “friends” couldn’t talk to her for a whole week when she was going through something. Then, the worst part is after Abby slaps Ginny everything seems like a joke? They are all going through things and they just laugh it off even though they are dealing with serious topics. I don’t know if they did this so the show wouldn’t seem so serious and they wanted it to be more lighthearted but this makes MANG seem really toxic. I’m so tired of teenagers with y/n “I’m not like other girls” personality.
(Also anyone notice how Abby was the only one who thought that the party Georgia had for Ginny was nice because her parents don’t pay attention to her? Georgia has done plenty of things good and bad but at least she has a reason.)
Idk what the point of this rant is but I really hope they give some character development next season or just some personality.
MANG was extremely toxic. I’ve seen a few people describe them as a good friend group and I’m like ‘🤨 HOW?’ Lol
I’m looking forward to some character development next season as well.
and it was just so bad from the start too. I mean immediately abby sort of peer pressures ginny into shop lifting and let’s her take the fall for it entirely. I’ve heard some people say this was a type of hazing but that is an inherently toxic thing too. also as pointed out in the show mang sounds like slang for d*ck so no all around
I didn’t really like Abby at the start (yk the stealing thing and stuff) but by the end I really related to her. My parents aren’t divorced but I really relate to her friends kinda ignoring her for a week and her parents not really caring. Also, I agree that MANG is toxic but I’ve had plenty of intense moments with my friends that kinda just turn into laughter
that’s what confused me the most abt the group. someone would be in an argument with someone and they would say something they regret aka the moment you mentioned and when abby was like “ugh yes everything just has to be abt ginny” and then they just made up at lunch?? how does anything get resolved if they just ignore it??
@@Mia.S13 same i went from hating her to loving her bc of being able to relate to her problems. I feel like they were portrayed way more realisticly than those of some of the other characters. I also liked how she kind of came up for georgia by saying the bday party was really nice when ginny was being all bratty about it.
Ginnys lack of empathy for her mother really stood out enough for me to not be able to look past it. A scene that really got me was when she goes out with her friends without telling her mom. All her mother wanted was to make sure she was and stayed safe. Then there’s her pressuring her mother into explaining her past and then completely falling apart because of it. 🏃♀️

Lol well Georgia had even bigger problems but I understand what you mean.
I hated that Ginny thought everyone that was mean to her was being racist and not because of her rude ass personality
SEASON 2 SPOILERS: georgia is a very complex character and i think she always has good intentions. but after watching season 2 i can see she’s very emotionally abusive. she is a very unhealed person and reminds me of my bipolar mom. the scene where she is yelling and grabbing at ginny after finding out she SH, removing all the food in the house when she wont eat dinner, how shes always lying about so many things she shouldnt be . i do think she deserves empathy and compassion for her struggles and she def is a victim too, but she continued the cycle with her own daughter while ironically spending her entirety of motherhood avoiding that. i dont see anyone talk about this side of their relationship.
True that Georgia can be seen as manipulative since she constantly puts emotional burden on Ginny - being uncomfortable with her daughter not looking her as a bestfriend and saying things like I will do anything for you and going overboard and overreacting with the English teacher thing. That's so manipulative.
Wait Ginny is 15?
How is she driving...
Edit: Thank you for the clarification
Permit. I dont remember her driving without georgia in the car though.
But it is pretty weird that georgia let her drive through states they had never been to and knew little about roads and freeways when she just had a permit.
Yea definitely permit. She was getting highway practice in lol
She turns 16 sometime in the show, (The birthday party episode).
I know in States like Georgia you can get a permit at 15. But in states like Pennsylvania, it's 16. So having her drive across state lines is dumb unless you know for sure.
I agree with your points. How this show addresses race is lackluster. The racist people are kind of caricaturist and the scenarios make no sense( in what hs is a room of one’s own on the reading syllabus? Why would the black girl have an issue with her dressing like Britney? She looked good and who doesn’t love Britney?, etc) but I definitely have known biracial people like Ginny who seem super militant about pro blackness despite choosing to be a token and the fact that their experiences do not reflect the ire they have for the world. Like I’m clearly black and I have not had many overt racist attacks certainly not enough to propel me to stand up to a non politically correct teacher who responsible for my grade and like get on his case about a syllabus that he didn’t even curate. I was an outsider too and I rather die than get on my soapbox over some bullshit
I definitely understand where you’re coming from. And I think you raise a good point, there are plenty of biracial/mixed people who are pro-black activist etc. I think it would’ve made for a interesting route for Ginny since race identity was apart of her storyline.
Also, the race conversation surrounded the 2 biracial characters. You had a Jewish east Asian girl in the friendship group and 2 dusky brown girls, Sophie and padma. I was so annoyed that they made race a focus in the show but just forgot about the other dark skinned characters and the racism they face.
@@mushy470 they were not that important

“Why would the black girl have an issue with her dressing like Britney”
Bruh we literally get told all the time by black people that we are “whitewashed” or “wanna be white” for doing stuff like that. Even though we literally are white 😭
Remember when Ginny complained to her dad about how her mom kept her away from her grandparents? The ones who abused Georgia?
Also this show did NOT need both a love triangle and a love square. Only one worthwhile was Joe
“Love square “ 😂😂😂 first time I’m hearing that one.
I personally don't mind Ginny, everyone hates on her because she's "annoying" or "ungrateful" but she is the most realistic "teen" character I've seen in a while because she is selfish and often doesn't see the bigger picture in most situations making it seem like she's ungrateful but she's just reacting based of what she sees then and there and most teens are like that or were like that whether they like to admit it or not. The familiarity breeds resentment and I think that's why most people don't like her or find her annoying. And those that are like "I am not/ never was that disrespectful/ ungrateful" good for you, but what does that have to do with Ginny or people like her? No one said you can't be mad at your parents or act "ungrateful". I like that she's not perfect and she makes people mad honestly. But that's just my unpopular opinion🤷🏽♀️
I like this. Good take.
Totally agree! I'm amazed to see so much hate for Ginny and so much support for Georgia. Yes, Ginny is def flawed, she does stupid things, that hurt people around her and herself, she's unfair and mean to her friends sometimes (and they are mean to her). But she is a teenager, and she's gone through a lot of shit, she can't process it properly yet, she's just hurting and can't figure out how to ask for help, I'm sure she's got plenty of self-hatred because of being "ungrategul" (Georgia's done so much for her and sacrificed so much, she can't bear to see that Ginny is still hurting and that this childhood caused her so much trauma regardless of how badly Georgia was trying to do her best), she can't address the deep-rooted issues between them (at least till their therapy session) and, given the reaction we saw after Georgia discovered her therapy journal, she had a point in dreading it. So she clings to the problems at hand, taking out all this frustration on her mom, acting out, making stupid decisions. I love Georgia with all my heart, she's so compelling and vibrant, she's the reason I picked up this show in the first place. And, yes, she's deeply traumatized and has gone through way too much, and did her best to take care of Ginny and her brother. But can I call her a good mom because of that? I can't. I don't think she could've done better, she truly made the most of the given situation. But it was her decision to have a child, and to my mind, it was a pretty selfish decision. she saw these kids playing outside, loved, taken care of, and made it her mission to do this for Ginny, but she did it for herself, to make up for her shitty childhood, to find a purpose and anchor in her very miserable life. Ginny is not a very likeable character (most teenagers aren't, to be fair), but I can't help feeling tons of compassion toward her. she's just a kid, but already has so much weight on her shoulders
As a multiracial teen, I actually think that Ginny (and Hunters) storyline started off realistic, however, Ginny’s self-hatred got to a point where it went past racial insecurity and into paranoia about everyone being racist towards her. I personally think that her hanging out with mostly white people was realistic; she chose a group and stuck with it, but the whole argument with Hunter was just… a mess and her whole storyline with the black girl was weird because I don’t get why she wouldn’t just be friends with her from the beginning ( + the whole Britney Spears comment was just sooo randomly thrown in there). How Hunter handled Ginny’s whole freak out about losing the competition was actually my one and only favorite moment of his, but him and Georgia were really the only characters that realistically represented race struggles in my opinion. I wish they would have consulted or hired a biracial writer to help them out with race and Ginny’s whole character because she made me want to turn off the tv every damn scene.
...And points were made 👏🏾.
sis read my mind👏👏
You would have to hire multiple biracial people . We all have such different experiences tbh.

I get the feeling that I'm the only one deeply shocked by Georgia's attitude! Like come on, really, murder is the only solution she knows? She *kills* her own husband, and thats supposed to be acceptable, or even a good action? Her having a bad childhood doesn't justify giving death to people -- or harming young kids (she almost broke the nose of that kid at school, when *she* was supposed to be the adult)
I know that each time it's to protect her family, but doesn't she know less extreme ways?? For example, breaking up with his toxic husband instead of killing him -- oh yeah but the money. Well, you don't need a hous that big, I know that life is hard for an only mom, but murder is unjustifiable.
My mom said this same thing lol so you’re not alone.
I mean the dude *assaulted* her daughter! Anyone parent who would witness that happening would do something about it. She could have just turned him in but someone like Georgia (who was assaulted as a kid) would react without thinking clearly.

Ginny was so hypocritical. Wanting her mom out of her private life but went searching her moms room 💀 keep questioning her mom about HER past HER shitty parents.
For Ginny, I think we would have empathized more with her if we had some flashbacks of what her other schools were like. I know we’ve heard her _say_ she hasn’t fit in at her other schools but showing some examples would have explained why she was so ready to jump into her new life of popularity. I also think there should have been flashbacks of how Georgia parented Ginny in the past. Again, it’s heavily implied that Georgia was not a good parent but seeing it would have made us understand why she was so rude to her.
This! Agreed. Hoping they expound on it next season.
@Magical Watermelon Total agreement!!!✅💯👏🏾👏🏾
another thing that bothers me is that ginny has such an “i’m not like other girls” attitude as well as a severe victim mentality. like “i’m so quirky for wearing pink floyd shirts and flannels and creating false tension and passing it off as calling out bigotry” gets really old really fast. idk maybe i’m reading too much into it but does anyone else feel this way? i’d love to hear other opinions! this whole show just gives me very strong pick me girl vibes and i couldn’t even get through the first episode
Hmmm, maybe I was expecting this type of behavior from her. Because a lot of people who didn’t make it past the first episode have a similar opinion as you do.
But I get it. Lol
Idk. This is a weird criticism of her. Her style is not that noticeable and it's not like she ever acts like she's better than other people because she wears pink floyd shirts.
@@olivechandran214 she totally does think she's better than other people, not for the shirts, but she does have that pick-me girl I'm different from every girl attitude, and it's not even with girls exclusively, for example she honestly thought that beacuse she made something DifFerEnT 🤪she deserved to win the prize in her english class and acted as if she didn't get it because she was a minority when her BOYFRIEND who was litteraly a minority too won it because he actually followed the assignment.
I totally agree, she is so obnoxious lol she only focuses on that she's different, which is not a bad thing but that's literally her only personality trait
Yesss honestly
I don’t really like this style I think it looks great but I don’t love the band t shirts, not because there bad but they don’t really love the band and that’s not a bad thing but when your wearing one people will be like “your just trying to be different”
My dad has always loved punk rock and because of that he influenced me to love it as well
I’m not a huge fan of nirvana or Pink Floyd but I think they make good music and if I were to wear some sort of shirt like that people would be annoying because of those people
I still like the style but not that kinda shirt
Netflix disappointing me in every way possible. I have never seen this much worse teenagers . Talking about ginny man I could not handle her for more than 2 min The fun fact is she is exactly 50-white:50-black genetically. But what does bother her in the whole show is she wants to be counted as black and even worse made her mother feel disgusting for being white . The whole fucking show is like Race, Black people, im so sorry but this is too much drama from girl who’s actually a mix . And yes im not Sorry .
What makes me mad is that people suddenly have so much understanding for Ginny but literally hated her before her problems were told word for word. Can most people just not think on their own?
“YoUr sO hM eXoTic LoOkInG”
When I say my jaw dropped-
Right? ...Yikes.
What about the "I want to hook up with a black guy so we can have cute mixed babies~"
@@londonfleurina2388 should of seen my mouth when I heard that line in the show.
I’m half Mexican half white, one of my friends is half Hispanic half black- and never in my life would I- like w a t
Why is that supposed to be an insult?
I know it's important to address issues like racism in a show and I think that's great too. But Ginny's only personality is being sassy and mixed. I wish we could have gotten a more interesting character who also has a real personality, besides being rude to everyone. Sometimes she seems like the gay secondary character in Netflix films. Their only personality is also to be gay. I understand that Netflix wants us to see it as normal, which we do!, but if they show it off that strange, including the racism in Ginny & Georgia, then it's just weird
Hmmm... that’s interesting. I haven’t seen anyone make this type of comparison.
@@TheBlushBunny yeah, but it’s also just my opinion, so no one has to agree with it :)
Yeah I agree
Correction: being sassy and mixed. Not trying to nitpick but her identity crisis over being half black AND half white is brought up a lot
@@alyssapinon9670 oh sorry for my mistake then
Throughout this series Ginny kept trying to paint Grorgia out to be this monster. All the while she just revealed how ungrateful, disrespectful, undeserving of a brat she is. I've nevet hated a character this much on a show. Everything is about her complaining and blaming everyone for her problems.
I think people should remember Ginny is a teenager and she's going through all sorts of stress, her mother being a murderer, her guilt of cheating on Hunter, the feeling that she has been used and tossed for sex, feeling unloved by her dad, navigating a friend group she is walking on eggshells around, etc. She definitely disappoints me a lot towards the end but people are imperfect and I think she is growing from everything she's going through.
I'm half black and something that made me want to scream was whenever Ginny would sort of dismiss the invitations from other black characters while in the same breath complaining about not fitting in. And I actually really like Ginny. She definitely needs work and has some major problems but for majority of her actions I could kind of empathize with her. I think a lot of people dismissed her trauma because they loved Georgia so much and because they just didn't like Ginny which is unfair. Neither one of them had a particularly great childhood. I think people were much more willing to give grace towards Georgia while expecting Ginny to be perfect. But I think a decent amount of the criticism towards Ginny is understandable.
One of my biggest issues with the viewer reaction was how everyone has been treating Hunter. I feel like besides being cringy at times, he literally did nothing wrong. I truly believe that if people found him more attractive, people would have liked him. Marcus was the creepy one if you want to be honest. This man just barged in her room countless times without asking. People only liked him because he's attractive.
But overall, I actually really enjoyed the show and am really excited for season two.
So true,I agrees with everything but Ginny not hanging with black kids. why should she they were older then she was. She felt like she would be too white around them and that's what she meant about being to white for the black kids and too black for the white kids.
but that's her own Inner a fears.
Just because bracia aprons her dosen't change how she felt about it.
Great take.
I don’t get why hunter is viewed as cringey
I think he’s a perfect option for a boyfriend. I mean he’s supportive all the time , loves Ginny and doesn’t start dramas…etc
I agree with the Hunter point. Marcus reminds me of Jess from Gilmore Girls -- very moody and push-and-pull, yet people still like him because he's attractive. Media often conditions audiences to find toxic behaviour "hot". Ginny and Marcus had obvious chemistry, but that's not a sole reason for people to enter a relationship. Though if I'm being honest, she and Hunter also lacked chemistry and a good dynamic. Regardless, he was a much kinder person than Marcus and seemed to really care about Ginny. People hate on him way too much.
I sort of wish Ginny had ended up single in the end. I think it would have been an interesting "plot twist" of sorts and I think neither of the guys were really "right for her".
@@elianna_ecc i agree but hunter didn't really listen to her problems like Marcus did. she did end up single in the end she choose nobody. she left.
did anyone else notice max and marcus house changes location? like apparently it’s next to ginnys house but then later it’s across the street and keeps going back and forth ??
Someone else mentioned this. I didn’t notice lol
In the first episode it was seen across the street
what I love about Ginny and Georgia is that the creators dont want u to think that Ginny or Georgia are perfect. None of the characters actually are perfect, and thats okay. I love how all the characters had their own toxic behaviours and mess up stuff. In real life is very difficult to be perfect. Imposible actually. So I like the way the characters are build
I didn't realize Hunter was half Asian until he commented on it a few episodes in tbh. I thought he was just white 🤦🏾♀️
He was...alright. just sooo boring. I felt like Ginny was only with him to fit a mold. In the end she kept saying she did like him but I really did not believe her. I do wish they would have broken up before she slept with Marcus the second time. Hunter still could have been upset. I hate how much shows make characters cheat.
Hunter was pretty boring and corny lol I didn’t feel like he was that into her either.
@@TheBlushBunny He definitely wasn't. She sent him the photo but if he was "trying to respect her" he could have been like wow you're so beautiful or something instead of ignoring her.
she said her teacher was racist but all she said to Hunter bc she didn’t win a CONTEST was tbh
Also wouldn’t it make more sense if the teacher was like being sexist ? Like he chose hunter a half Asian man of a half white background
@@Isabel-vn6zh yes dang it. I hate her
@@Isabel-vn6zh she knew Abby was so sad but she didn’t even help her with her knowledge, she just let her and when she exploded, she called her egoistic bitch ? I have pity for Abby, Maxine and Marcus bc she fucked up everyone’s life to just ran off bc her mom killed someone that was about to r@pe her ?! yeah, that’s horrible knowing that ur mon has ptsd trauma + her mom told her about her step father but she still complained to her father like : mom is so mean, she didn’t let me see my grand-parents ouinnnn

@@Isabel-vn6zh you do realize anti blackness exists right?
The thing is that Ginny wrote a poem when she was told to do an essay. She could have done the most amazing poem but won't get the credit cause she was told to do the opposite.
essays can be poems
Georgia: I was molested and abuse every night with my mom passed out In the next room
Ginny: How dare you not introduce me to them and keep secrets😡😡😡
haven't watched this yet but that scene you showed with the lady doing her hair... WHAT.
like i have curly hair that i constantly throw up in a high pony everyday cuz i don't care enough... but like ginny just broke a cardinal rule right there! running a comb or brush through your hair when it's dry?!?? the heck!! 😂
The actress who plays Ginny is so pretty it hurts my heart. Something about her face just hits different.
She is stunning.
she's so beautiful
@@TheBlushBunny her mom is black and her dad is white irl, and she's a spitting image of her mom. She's caribbean
Lol what?
RIGHT?! Her facial structure is so cute! Not to mention the FREAKLES!!😤🥺😭
Not to mention this show made their only LGBTQ character a total jerk.
Right.
But, lgbts+ can be jerks tho?
@@voxpopuli6612well can't any human have there not so great moments?
@@jamespotter7677 that's what i said
@@voxpopuli6612 well yeah, of course some people in the lgbtq+ community can be jerks. there's jerks in every community but we want good representation for once. in movies and tv shows they always make the gay character mean, annoying, or make it seem like being gay is their only personality trait.
The problem with ginny and Georgia is ginny.
Thank you SO MUCH for bringing all this up. I’m a white person so most people don’t appreciate me talking about racism because I’ve never been in touch with it and mostly call me racist for doing it, so I rather don’t. But knowing that we’re on the same page makes me feel a lot better. Thanks for that
