loved this video!! this movie was awesome and totally blew me awayy. so right how this movie is about more than just kid's revenge -- i love how he has to fail to kill rana in his original attempt to come back with alpha and the other women. also builds up the idea of solidarity between marginalised communites. also love the kuffiyeh in the back lol

yess!!! my favourite part of the film was how Dev changed the common narrative that the protagonist takes down the bad guys all on his own, and instead he highlighted how marginalized people coming together creates a stronger body of power 👏

@@sarahshhb yes!!! i went by myself!! and honestly as a directional debut this film is top tier along with the themes it explores in the film. it might be simply about revenge but there’s so much depth to it, we get to see power hierarchy between genders, between the rich and the poor, how religions are used as a weapon, we see light on trans issue, and so much more and the way dev articulates the narrative is so beautifully done and well balanced. the action sequences are literally chefs kiss and the training montage has to be my favourite. also the budget for this movie was so low and it was made during the pandemic and i was watching his interviews and he was expressing how he had lost most of his crew due to travel restrictions, he didn’t have much money, he broke his hands and didn’t have the proper med treatment and all that things combined, he still created this banger and i just think it’s so commendable because if he can produce this in such conditions imagine his work when he has all the resources.

the films i used in reference were Slum Dog Millionaire (not my fav but also a revenge film) and The White Tiger (this one i actually enjoyed). also try Promising Young Women (huge fan of this one) and Gone Girl (you'll be conflicted whose side youre on 😂 )
