"Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Wasshoi!“ Welcome back and great reaction. The live performances of this have been completely wild and the crowds are going nuts! 🤘🤪🤘This is a new song, it was their most recent release and is only a couple of months or so old.
This is what Tom Morello had to say about this collaboration:
"I am a big fan of BABYMETAL, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I've been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of 'Metali!!' I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!"
The song title translates as 'Metali' (or 'Metari') which is a fusion of the words metal and matsuri (festival). The song is about a Metal Village holding a metal festival, so they have included all the matsuri shouts everybody would be calling out as encouragement to the people carrying heavy floats etc like "Sore, Sore", "Dokoisho" and "Wasshoi!".
They are inviting us all to dance - I am reliably informed there is something in the lyrics (Su sings it and it is in Momometal's kabuki section) about we are all idiots or fools - the idiots who watch and the idiots who dance ... so as we're all here and we're all idiots why just watch, we may as well all dance.
Yes they started in 2010 aged 12 (Su-metal) and 11 (Yuimetal and Moametal). Sadly yui left in 2018 after a 12 month absence for poor health. Su and Moa continued as a duo for the next 4-5 years.
In April this year Momometal was revealed as the new third member. This is Momometal's first official music video since she was revealed as the official new member and she even got her own solo part with the spoken kabuki theatre section.
You might want to see their very first song and video - 'Doki Doki Morning' was recorded late October 2010, the video was made on a shoestring budget nearly a year later when Su was 13, Yui and Moa only just turned 12.

They were all pre-teens when they started. Su-metal, the lead singer, (Suzuka Nakamoto) was picked by their producer to when she was around age 11. Imagine seeing an 11 year old and thinking I want to form a metal group with her as lead.
Original lIneup from about 2010: Suzuka Nakamoto (lead vocals), Yui Mizuno (scream and dance)(she left the group in 2018), Moa Kikuchi (scream and dance), and new member as of Apr 1, 2023, Momoko Okazaki (scream and dance).

    _Wasshoi wasshoi!_
    _Wasshoi wasshoi!_
    Welcome back to BabyMetal's journey.
This is another banger for Japanese festival or any festival around, they performed this at The Babyklok Tour in the US in all the cities they've been around, they did the same at Aftershock and Louder Than Life after so many years without performing there and getting the crowd going bonkers with this.
The live debut was at Apocrypha - Another One exclusive show prior to the track release in August this year, it started with a Kami Band intro after a while without it. So this is fairly new and also outside of latest album released this year too.
There's a live proshot version at Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka released recently but it's heavily blocked. You'll notice some slight difference between the live and the studio album.
The song title is Metali!! (metal + matsuri, which is a Japanese festival) and you can hear it in the spoken section when MomoMetal (the new official member you didn't saw at BxMxC but she's with them since 2019) is doing the Kabuki moves style.
Just so you know "wasshoi" is another shout used in Japanese festivals when men are carrying the shrine, similar to sore and soya in Megitsune and Karate. The traditional Japanese instrument you can hear in the beginning is a shamizen, also used in Megitsune.
I can totally see why they pick Tom Morello on this, the groove, the catchiness, the super energetic jump and those typical 90's vibes at funk or alternative metal live concerts.
    Next suggestion:
    - Headbanger!! live at Legend 1997, Gans Tomas got that clip under "Head Bangya" title.
Thanks for sharing this and see you next time.🦊🤘🎸

In the beginning there was a Japanese idol group called Sakura Gakuin (Cherry Blossom School). They had a graduating system where a member would leave (graduate) after Jr. High School. SG also had sub-units based on various themes like cooking, cheerleading and...........heavy metal. Babymetal originally began with Su, Yui and Moa. Yui left the group some years ago and they had a revolving 3rd member for a while. The last time I saw them, they finally settled on a permanent 3rd member. Their acceptance as a legit heavy metal group was shaky in the beginning. But soon after, they performed at huge rock festivals worldwide and got the attention and endorsement of metal gods like Judas Priest, Metallica and others. Their band (The Kami Band) are ridiculous musicians. Thanks for supporting them.

Welcome back and thanks from Japan 有難う 💛。This song was one in the setlist that was performed in the North American tour (total 29 gigs in Aug. thru Oct.) with Dethklok and kept blasting the audience at every venue. The title is a synthesized word from two words : "Metal" and "Matsuri 祭 (festival)" → Metali. And if you want to know the deep meaning of the lyrics please check Professor Hartley's channel (Andrew Hartley).
I witnessed this song live twice in August in Japan. At the actual venues, this song followed after an intro by Western (American) Kami Band's cool instrumental solos. Oh My Buddha! 😍 I got hyped like an idiot in the simplicity of this song. Momometal's extravagant elocution and moves in Kabuki style (and her growl in live show) gave an amazing accent in the exciting repetitiveness. The repetitive わっしょい "Wasshoi" is a call or yell used in Japanese Matsuri (festival). It is a kind of phrase to intensify people's excitement and especially to encourage the power of guys who are carrying a heavy Mikoshi on their shoulder that is a kind of a float in Western style festivals.

I was listening to Rage around my Sr year in high school. Saw them perform at Red Rocks in Denver. Amazing show. I'm now 48yrs old and BABYMETAL is my favorite band of all time now. These girls and the Kami Band are truly special. I knew about them around 2010 but was late in really taking notice and regret it. They make me happy and I look at these girls as a proud father and I don't even have kids. They were adorable kids that have become beautiful amazing ladies.
Other's will tell you more about their history and I recommend checking their early songs and work your way up. It may make it more emotional or give you a sense of the proud father syndrome when you watch these girls grow up before your eyes and see some of the struggles they went through. 🤘🦊🤘

Nice reaction. Babymetal because it makes me happy. You read that a lot as the reason by fans for listening to Babymetal. They know how to entertain that's for sure. I keep waiting for them to ask the audience during a show "Are You Not Entertained". Since they've been around for so long now there's lots of history and fun trivia to learn about them. Musically they're a reactors' dream subject. The music being so diverse they're a sort of one stop shopping for musical genres. And through all that blending and mixing they've developed their own sound. And leaving you wanting more. We just have to know what the next song sound will like. Add in their great live performances and we get I just have to go see them. Carismatic humble and gracious from the start. and still are. They take nothing for granted because nothing was just given to them. They got together in 2010 but their first album didn't come out until 2014. Because they had to prove to the entertainment company, they worked for that they were worth the effort. Just about all the rest of their groups were JPOP. Babymetal grew a fan base. They performed in the mall back then for free. Today a ticket to see them will cost you some pay. Enjoy the rest of your journey through the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music.

You were commenting on their ages. Babymetal became official in 2010. Su-Metal, the main vocalist was born in 1997, while Moa was born in 1999. Momo, the newest member was born in I think 2002 or some time around there. So Su was only 14 at the time when Babymetal started while Moa and Yui were both 12. Yui sadly had to leave the group due to health reasons. So yes, they DID start VERY young and you really should check out their early stuff too, it will make your soul smile.

Babymetal “メタり” Metali (feat) Tom Morello:-
Babymetal have joined forces with Tom Morello of "Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, Prophets of Rage, Lock Up, Street Sweeper Social Club, Axis of Justice, Class of '99, Shandi's Addiction" for a new single ‘Metali’.
The new song is the latest in the Japanese kawaii metal band’s series of star-studded collaborations, and sees them partner with the Rage guitarist for another up-tempo, electrifying track.
The group first teased the release last week and, according to the press release, ‘Metali’ is “officially the first song by the newly reborn” group - now consisting of SU-METAL, MOAMETAL, and MOMOMETAL. It also confirms that the single was created with the vision of their crowd forming a circle pit at a metal festival this summer.
Babymetal - METALI (feat. Tom Morello)” was released as a digital Single in 2023. The Japanese Title “メタり” has a distinctive style of kana usage. It is written as the nominal form of the made up verb “to do metal”.
This song is characterized by the classic metal style of the Japanese band, combined with some j-rap touches that distinguish it from previous releases. And of course, the subject gets more frantic through the classic guitar style of Tom Morello, which fits quite well in the musical

Babymetal is a sub group from the Japanese youth talent show called Sakura Gakuin. The vocalist (Suzuka Nakamoto) started at 12 years old and the other two (Yui Mizuno and Moa Kikuchi) at 10 years old

    • @fabianochevallier
      @fabianochevallier Před 7 měsíci

After Yui Mizuno left the group, they continued with the help of support dancers. But this year they made Momoko Okazaki official.

Nah, Rage is done. Tom was in Audioslave with Chris Cornell from Soundgarden (RIP) after RATM broke up.
And unfortunately, I think you just missed babymetal's U.S. tour.

@TheRealMcCoyReacts62812 They'll be back! You gotta check out their live performances next. Gimmie Chocolate is the one that went viral and put them on the map.
But if you want to see them absolutely control a huge crowd of screaming fans, you have to check out Road of Resistance (Legend of 1997). 1997 is the year of Su-metal's birth and not the date of the show, which seems to confuse everyone.

      @rickwagner- Před 8 měsíci +3

@@jaedo6180 'Road of Resistance' wasn't performed at LEGEND 1997.
That concert was December 21st, 2013 (the day after Su's 16th birthday).
'Road of Resistance' had its world premiere almost a year later at O2 Academy Brixton, November 8th, 2014.
The official video for that song was filmed at Saitama Super Arena on January 10th, 2015.
It is an epic performance though, and well worth watching.

Straight to 100% - I can't believe I didn't like it after listening (not watching) the first 30 seconds of the track - it felt like bangra or similar and I'd had enough of that with metal galaxy (great songs but I prefer them where I feel they're strongest - Japanese). Luckily I know BM well enough to know I had to come back and try again.......and I was instantly hooked :) Great reaction!

I am wondering what's your sound system, it just sound a lot if better than others, even better than the same video on Babymetal official channel.
