Easily my favorite comic book series. Never once saw a decrease in quality. As the years progress of course things are going to get more slow and less action packed, which they do. It’s all about prospective I guess. The show shit the bed pretty quick but had some cool moments.
The video game by Telltale games was amazing. :)
Why u lazy
Yes😊😊
I bought the HC:s up to volume 10, and when I realised I hadn't read the yearly volume for a couple of years, mainly because it felt like a never-ending story, I stopped. Then when it actually ended and the final volume came out, I bought the last volumes at 50% off. So I have a complete set on my shelf, and someday I will read them from start to finish.
There was so many “I’s” in that small paragraph 🤣
Edit: You sound like a narcissist.
I love these books! Each book feels solid and heavy for it’s size.
I totally agree!
Considering getting these
So I’m definitely going to pick these up 😁 Just curious, you said that there were other survival/horror titles that you enjoyed. Do you think you could do a video going over some of those. Lol, even if you do it in October, it would be greatly appreciated 🤘🏽As always, this was an awesome overview video! Peace and Love
Thanks for making the video! I don’t see too many videos for these books. I bought the box set but then the stupid Collector in me kicked in and I had to go out and by all of the hardcovers as well.
Im looking to start reading this series soon. Im really excited 😁 Is there anyway you can do a video discussing Final Crisis? To help out people like me who don't understand all of it? That would be great if you could. Great vid by the way!
How about a retroview on the Chew Omnivore edition hardcovers? I've been thinking about picking them up, would love to hear your thoughts!
Just won the full set for $10 a pop on ebay! Hell yeah!
Yo Omar. Love the channel. I was wondering what titles are evergreen for each of the publishers. I kinda want to upgrade some of my y the last man trades to hardcover, but if its an evergreen series then I could just collect some other series that I'm interested in and save the upgrades until later. Also is there any reason to keep trade paperback once you've upgraded? Do people care about first printings with collected editions?
Cuddy in the Wire! I am gonna watch this later!
Omar you have done an overview of something I actually own 😂, well since last month anyway , i got a heres negan hc with them and a covers book of the 1st 50 issues I dont know if any more was made of that book though
Just got all 8 omnibus I believe it’s worth it 😊😊
these books are so pretty, wish they were that cheap where I live
Hey Omar! What are your thoughts on the Omnibus Hardcover editions?
I came across a used one for really cheap and snatched it up but now I’m not sure if I wanna keep dropping the bones on them when these editions are pretty nice and look to be pretty inexpensive on the secondhand market..
Even though it was only the first couple issues I really enjoyed Tony Moore's art style, but liked how Charlie Adlard's gave it a more realistic look. Which style did you all prefer?
I prefer Tony Moore style for some reason but i do think Charlie Adlard's touch was a good thing for the series too.
But the Tony Moore style is more elegant for me.
Charlie Adlards art style was a lot better in my opinion as it made the world look and feel realistic and the characters had a much more realistic look to it but I don’t mind Tony Moores art work
Or don't have it at all because it never interested me no matter how good the guy at my lcs told me it was. Great overview of it. Been loving the retro and hidden gem vids and turning me into new titles.
is this the complete series ?
very nice video by the way
Thank you so much and yes. This is it.
I remember hate reading the first compendium.
I picked up the first omnibus recently for a bargain £35. The initial artwork is awesome but I gotta disagree and say I was disappointed when I saw the change of artist over to Charlie Adlard as the drop in quality was obvious to see. I've enjoyed reading the first omni and the quality of the book and slipcase is excellent. I'll probably just buy one omni a month from this collection until I've finished it out seeing as the price of them is quite reasonable.
Book 16 arriving today to complete my collection
What a great feeling.
Congrats! They look cool together. Especially, since it’s a complete story.
I just need 12 and 16and then ill have the whole set. haven*t read 16 yet thou, gonna read thru the whole thing from the start as soon as i have it all.
Hell yea brother great review. I say if they made these in color holy crap they would pop and sell like hot cakes.
Wow😊😊😊😊
I'm debating my self should I read this in black and white or the new colored version.
On one hand I want the original and I'd enjoy the line work more on B&W but on the other hand I know that those bloody pages and splatter will look great in color.
Hey man! Quick question: i have these hardcovers, from 1 to 13, and today i got number 16. I noticed that number 16's binding is different from the other volumes, as it's not glued directly onto the inner side of the spine. Is yours like this too?
They doing these hardcover collections for the color deluxe editions?
I've got the first two compendiums and will the last two soon. I gave up on the TV show a few seasons back.
I have now got the last two compendiums.
Once you make it, you dont return to Kentucky Basements^^ -- Thank you so much for the Insides here!
12:09 Heresy!!! WHUT^^
Hahahaha
I have the tpb's and yeah, it started strong but became repetitive and dragged a lot near the ending, which I didn't really care for. As for the tv show, I liked the pilot...and that's it.
Now that they are releasing twd deluxe series (in colour) I wonder if they'll remake these books or the omnibus's in colour.
I keep trying to find an easy way to get the deluxe versions in the UK. And there really doesn't seem to be one. I've never read the comics, but so tempted to get all of these...
Before purchase
I do love the walking dead but still need to buy the rest of the volumes at somepoint. I only have the first 14 volumes.
Two more to go..
The omnibus editions are bigger in size than these right?
yes
Omar, between the walking dead and I am a hero; which do you prefer?
This is sick I like this might look into this.
Do it its good you can get these for about 10 bucks apiece on ebay
@@whiterunguard4717 More like $20-$30 NEW. If you’re lucky and catch nobody watching a bid, you can sneak in with a cheap bid at closing and score a hc at a cheap price.
@@erikd9725 i bought most of them for 10 bucks or less
I’d recommend you do a Carnage omnibus review
I am a HUGE FAN OF THIS BOOK. I own the 4 Omnibus . I just have not finish reading them because this story remind me of the cOVID-19 virus . But I am going man up and read them and finish them soon . I love your shoe .
They are always in print? Some volumes seem harder to find than others. I had to recently rebuy my collection (due to a flood). I happily have my new set sitting high and dry.
Urgent::
Does Lee come out
These books or the compendium?
I prefer oversized hardcovers like these.
Is there a single format that shows what issue you're reading?
I believe the trades are collected that way.
I cant believe you dont like the tv negan i thought he was awesome
Honestly I like the manga feel instead of the paperback
I feel like comics were meant to be paperback
@@JonJurgenstein I meant paperback my bad I just saw this lol
The video games by telltale are set in the same universe as the comics
They are.
like
The Walking Dead was my favorite comic for many years, and it all started right at the beginning with #1. I already was a huge zombie/horror fan, plus Dawn of the Dead was, and still is my favorite movie. I Almost missed the first two issues, but luckily another subscriber at my LCS never picked up his order so I pounced. And for me the Walking Dead still remains one of the greatest works of horror fiction in any genre. As a matter of fact, the run from #49 till #98 (so basically Compendium 2) ranks as one of my favorite runs in comics.
But then came a turning point...
It's funny you mentioned not liking most of the characters Omar, because for me that started to happen around the #100 mark. There were still some of the core cast left, but every new addition from then on left me pretty much cold. I also felt there were never really any really memorable moments and that Kirkman started offing characters for no reason other than to shock (four words: heads on a spike). I also loathed Negan's character but not in a "good" way. I never got the love he got from so many readers. As far as I'm concerned he was Kirkman's clumsy attempt at creating an anti-hero, and looking back the decision that was made at the end of All Out War pretty much killed the comic for me.
I still collected and read every issue after that, including every 15th anniversary variant I could get my hands on, but I feel Kirkman made a right choice ending the series when he did. There were still some great moments (#167 is still heartbreaking and one of the best single issues ever) but the moment he decided to do what he did with you-know-who (avoiding spoilers is hard!) he knew it was all over.
But the Walking Dead was a nearly unprecedented run from a powerhouse creative team (we must not forget Stefano Gaudiano, Cliff Rathburn and Russ Wooton) that will remain a high point in 21st century comics. And as far as the TV show is concerned, I never made it past season one...
I agree heavy with the your opinion on the second compendium. That run is just so fun and awesome
Have you read heres negan Omar?
Is 135$ for 1-14 of these a good deal?
Yes it is.
1-16 in my country is over 500 dollars
I am Negan...👌🏼💯✔
🧟♂️🧟♀️🧟🧟♀️🧟♂️🧟
We all Negan.
I have the Hardcovers, the same as you, however, the first eight were purchased off amazon, and corners and spines are mangled. The last 8 came from IST and are perfect. Wish I found out about them sooner. The ending felt rushed, so overall a bit disappointing. I don't hate it though.
The comics actually explains how the people became zombies
因为买不到正版全套 我看的盗版😂
I kinda lost interest in the Tv show after a few seasons.... How does the comic compare?
@anab0lic I feel it went the same way, started good then went down
much better than the show characters more fleshed out and are less annoying
