everyone looks better in motion, everytime I watch a movie I think “these lead actors are so attractive” but then I see candid pictures of them, they look a lot worse
also to add onto that, we compare ourselves to top tier models and actors who literlaly have profesional lighting, cameras, angling, expressions, etc
even in movies, they try to make the main character look taller by making everyone else around them short

This is interesting and 100% correct. I'm a male model and how I look in picture is absolutely inconsistent depending on the camera, the lighting and the angle. Some people are good looking and charming but just not photogenic. I've met stunning people who look unrecognizable in pictures.
The mirror is the most accurate representation of your real appearance. Don't be sad if you don't look your best in some pictures, that's completely normal and probably not an actual representation of your appearance in real life.

Exactly. I used to think I had a horrendous overbite, to the point that I considered surgery. Then I found out about focal length and camera distortion. So I took a 50mm camera and had someone snap a photo of me in profile. It turns out, that my profile is not bad at all. Sure it's not ideal, but it's passable

@@Diego-uo3gi yeah selfies are trickier. Setting yourself up in front of a mirror is a much easier photography. Less distortion, more accurate color, much bigger frame, no noise, sharper image, etc.

I get that this video give a lot of people hopefuel. First, because shit ton of people here are teenagers and exagerate as f their so called uglyness, calling themself 2.5 etc.. which is not what they are.
Also, the way we consider ourself in front of a mirrors will also depend of our state of mind, so self judging is a bit pointless in front of mirrors..
If you want to get photos closer to reality you should be around 50mm focal length because human eyes are around that, but there is the other thing which is 3d real life human sight is something entirely different to a 2d photo.
I look normie in some pics and Chad in others. Selfies I honestly look pretty good if I angle the camera right I have a near Jordan Barrett wide face so a little distortion makes my face look good

Take a mirror picture and position the camera about eye level (or higher, never lower). Make sure you’re using a telephoto lens and keep a bit of a distance (~6 ft iirc [edit: actually 6 ft is OD lmao you could probably get away with about 4]). Either that, or ask for professional photos.

There is some truth to this but its still IMO very subjective. For example, I am extremely ugly BUT I photograph even worse to the point I look deformed. If I watch video footage of myself I don't look attractive obviously but I look 1000 tines better than a static photograph.

Professional Photographers have been saying forever that 50mm is most accurate to how our eyes see things. However for portraits (pics of people's faces) they say 70mm or more is most flattering.

You might, but that depends on if your growth plates are still open or not and also the height of your parents. Being 16, you could still grow but don't expect a huge growth spurt. If anything, I think you could gain another inch or two.
