Thanks to the Community @ uavpal.com ! This is some epic use of tech. About 1-2GB of data per hour is used per sim card. I was breathing hard because I was very nervous, it was very hot and the Tongans were yelling and playing baseball nearby 😆😅 and probably because I'm out of shape.

Dustin Dunnill i am your fan
Dustin Dunnill thanks for your vidéos how many time can you flight with your Li-on mod??
Technically as long as the components will hold up. Li-Ion battery manufactures stated they can recharge about 500 times 👍
Great video is that mod only for the disco or can it be used in any custom built wing?
Only for DISCO & bebop2 Parrot drones at the moment.

Dustin: let's get to.... around a 100 feet okay?
me: okay
😂👍
good one.
This is one of those real “last video then off to bed moments”... amazing trip:)
🍻😴
@@DustinDunnill if it was bigger and had bigger battery life, could it be flown ti another state and back?
Exactly what i should be doing right now.
Gotta go to work tomorrow -_-
With a battery 1/3 larger it can fly for about 100miles in ideal conditions 🍻. I'll be doing some more videos with solar on it soon
1:02 am for me
We have a winner. I didn't search for this. But this is officially the coolest thing i've ever seen on YT.
Turtle Gaming Ha! Didn’t see this one coming :)
it was alright
Same
Ever!!
@Turtle Tech I searched for this.
I show this video to everyone. this is truly one of the best RC videos EVER made. it was honestly like going on a far away adventure with a friend. not knowing if it would make it or if it would eventually just cut out, never to be seen again. this video is therapy for someone like me who is disabled and can't afford this stuff, but wants to enjoy the excitement of it. thank you for making this. Watching this all the way through, really feels like going through something in common. I can't express that enough!!!
🙂🍻
Now Dustin. You making the dji look real bad. Nobody have ever flown this far of a distance on parrot. And I have 20 yrs RC flight experience. I've never seen any like this before. This is the next level 4G FPV LTE. Great demonstration Dustin.
dji can make their drones fly as far as they want but they know that if they do that then sales will drop. if drone A can fly 25+ miles, then what would be the point of purchasing another drone ? this is why each one of their drones has different features and can fly further than the previous. they bird feed the public but it makes for a good business model, now if someone or a company would stop being scared and make some good after market parts then we can see things like this video happen with drones...
A company that stopped being scared and made some good after market parts for dji drones.
aaand now its gone, sued out of existence, all parts then patented by dji.
@@davidsenatsky9412 what company?
I have a feeling dji doesn't sell something like this for legal reasons, not because they are incapable. It would be trivial for them to do this, as shown by this guy doing it.
Is that why DJI keeps lengthening the range of their drones?
This would be pretty useful during searches at sea for missing ppl, would help manpowered copter flights.
Yeah but those companies want to stop all that because the states pay big money to rent their choppers and equipment.
This would also be useful for extended storm damage assessment where you follow a tornado damage path.
My local rnli uses me and my parrot to search the beach and sea sometimes edit imma get one of these as i think its a bit better in wind than my parrot so i could perform longer searches
At a top speed of around 25MPH, given the vast expanses of typical search areas, it would actually be very inefficient. You'd run out of go-juice after a few square miles. Maybe specific targeted missions..
@BECOMING WR The swarm array idea is an interesting one, but yes, you can search very large areas of ocean at speeds much greater than 100mph. It's done every single day with conventional aircraft. They have thermal imaging, FLIR, and all manner of technology to find boats and other floating objects, and warm bodies. When you consider that a search area can be tens of thousands of square miles, 25 miles per hour would be impractically slow. You'd never complete a mission. And you would need thousands upon thousands of UAVs of this size all coordinated. They'd all need a place to launch from, and a place to land. At sea. And you're still limited by a finite battery charge. Like I said, I can imagine a potential use for very targeted searches, but in a typical search and rescue mission at sea, you're going to need fast, long range aircraft initially.
This dude has 4G in the middle of Pacific on some remote islands......and I can't send my messages on WhatsApp with my mobile data in the middle of Munich

We need an rc plane with 4g and solar panels for true infinite range
Ranga Rutiser Sundar ? Why? You get solar to charge the battery while you fly
@@Solid_Snake99 Indeed. It might not be enough to keep it at full charge but should give you at least couple more hours.
Elite Extremophile if big enough and efficient and big battery i say 6 hours max, but can’t go very fast
It would be much like a glider than an airplane...
another idea : helium RC with solar supp :D
O nasıl bi hayal gücü
I’ve done a lot of FPV but you sir have blown me out of the water. I’ve got some 6-7mile range flights and on a perfect day I might be able to get further, but just the whole idea of flying across even a very, very small portion of the “Pacific Ocean” is amazing. Well done!!
Someone else did a battery mod, and did a 43 (70km) mile flight which took nearly two hours. They posted the video of the whole flight on here.
Honestly, you motivated me in a new direction as far as 45+-year-old man hobbies HAHAHA... Cheers Buddy!
You know Dustin, Just forget about all this 4G Control and planes for once. and talk about what an absolutely heavenly place you live in :D i would give all my money to live there :D you lucky dog
Hey Ali. I am graced with your presence 🙏. Yes, it is a great place to live. I was born and raised here and always come back no matter where else I've tried to live 😁🤙
Yep. I'd love to go to Hawaii
How much money U got Il get U there
@@DustinDunnill What kind of batteries are those? How many Volts/Amps is your engine pulling. That has some serious range. I am trying to do somthing similar, but I want a drone to fly a rover somewhere and drop it off in a parachute so i can explore.
This plane takes 11.1V lipo or Li-ion. 16amp max and about 3amp cruising 👍
WOW! Is all I can say. The uses for this is all the way from flying for funzies to looking for missing people to looking for downed aircraft. Something for everybody. Love love love it!
Dustin, this was the video that got me to pull the trigger on becoming a UAV pilot. I'm not flying winged aircraft, but I do now fly 2 Mavic Air 2's, 2 Mini 2's, 3 Mavic Air's and a C-Fly Faith 2. Thank you so much for this inspirational video. It literally changed my life. I'm an English Teacher living in Ha Long Bay Vietnam which has thousands of islands. I island hop with my drones all the time. And this video was the start for me. Cheers!

Thank you for keeping it under 500ft, from a Private Pilot. Very cool technology!
It's actually 400 but yeah much respect.
@Jake Colbert yeap it can...the bebop 3.0,bebop 2 and the disco all works with auriga bebop app that have an option that can override the altitud...i took my bebop to 1,600' but can continued up because of the battery...if the batt was one of longer duration the height could be even higher...all depends on the batt capacity.
DragonWarrior (maybe)you just admitted to using airspace without proper registration or training. This can even lead to criminal charges.
@@TriStAn-zi5gc i'm registered...where i live thats not a problem...no airport nearby nothing...i know what i do.
@@yanero0215 Not realy your aircraft is not registred, no registration on it, and no ads b or or traffic alert systems....you just have to know it is dangerous and therefor be realy careful. If its forbitten in your country dont do it even its fun if you are allowed take care otherwise they day of a new law is incoming. A lot of countries have the law you have to flight by sight, you have to see your drone/rc plane/helicopter the whole time to avoid any crash with incoming unsuspected traffic like rescue helicopters, police, privat pilots or anything else.

Wow that’s crazy. Putting my dji to shame. I was surprised when you dropped altitude and got a better signal. You played it safe also you had a lot of battery to explore with the wnd being a huge battery sucker you never know what it will kick up when flying.the approach had me gasp when that tree top popped in the frame. Amazing no damage done on the landing? That was an envious flight I would love to do myself. Great video
He got a better signal because cell towers propagate their signals downwards for the most part. No need for a signal hundreds of feet in the air if the tallest building is less than 40.
I can't get 4g at my house and your island hopping on it, damn!
Frequency travels much better over open water...
.
Buxtro C. Wtf is your Xbox playlist?🤣
mooosestang it’s also illegal to fly beyond LOS
John Monk sure bud,
This is the coolest vid ive seen this lockdown!
The technical aspects of this are cool by themselves. To a Colorado kid that has been to the ocean four times, it's freaking mesmerizing.
Possibly theres another video on CZcams recorded from Lanai claiming this parrot as UFO 😁😁
🤣
Or a government DARPA drone rofl!
Like the drone from interstellar.
Most amazing thing i've seen on CZcams in a while.
27:38 Straight up sounds like a zombie from COD 😂😂
By far the coolest thing I've ever seen in RC... Fun narration! Thank you!
There goes the UFO sightings lol 😂
Perhaps the BEST video i have EVER watched on YT. This is what technology was made for. You were so respectful of EVERYTHING. Thank you. What a beautiful islands.
I come back watching this one now and again. Definitely my favourite flight of yours!
My Mavic Pro 1 quadcopter can only reach about 3.5 miles from the home point before it must head back due to battery limitations. Round trip the absolute maximum distance it will cover is 6.1miles, after which it typically lands with 15% to 20% of battery charge.
Seeing this Parrot cover 25 miles over open ocean where winds could shift on a dime, then return home with over 40% battery left at touchdown is astonishing. The stability of the video picture is also unexpected. For truly long-range flights I can now see there is no substitute for a fixed-wing platform.
This is a landmark achievement that raises the bar for long-distance FPV feats of endurance even today in 2022 four years after this bold flight was posted here on youtube. Wow!
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! As a person who owns a Disco and knows what it is like to fly it, your newest video opens up a whole host of ideas for not only the Disco, but other drones. Thank you for doing such a great job with the videos. This one was one of the best. Looking forward to your continued series on the Autel Evo and Parrot Anafi. Can't wait to see some of the further testing on these two new birds. Keep it up!
Such a cool vid. The path across the ground is called your ground track.
I do know that my days as a radio technician taught me that a radio signal travels better closer to the water. They said it was because the water acts as a ground plane. It could also be because towers are aimed at the height most of us are. Dunno. Your experiment suggests it is true.
Here in Australia they are making the sport ever less legal. Needing a license to fly them now (above a certain weight). Perhaps you can figure out the payload and run a small parcel delivery business. ha. (I'm surprised you don't have a rescue boat on standby with perhaps a blinking red LED on top so you can find it).
Very cool. Sad statement about my flying skills is my favorite part near the end was when you were adjusting the camera and said "Whoops, wrong way" and I thought "Hah! It's not just me" even this guy does it. So now I feel better. Thanks.
This was amazing to see it reach another Island. Born and raised on Maui.
These flight are just getting better every flight thanks so much for great video Dustin
Dude that is absolutely incredible. That is the absolute best fpv footage I've ever seen. Two thumbs up way way way up. Good job bud. Happy flying from skip built RC
That was awesome! I grew up looking at Lanai from Maui, it was really cool to see Maui from Lanai
The fact that your batteries held out for a 25 mile flight is whats blowing my mind more than anything. Crazy man.
My son flys/races mini drones in competition and I liked the idea so I bought a Bebop 2 and absolutely loved it. Then I upgraded to the Power Edition and freaked out! Then my son showed me a YT vid of Dustin testing/flying the Disco..Thats going to be my next "upgrade"! TYVM Dustin for such fantastic vids!
Can only describe this flight as brilliant ! Well done thanks and Regards .
I first saw this couple of years ago while waiting to board a flight, time just flew by (no pun intended). Sometimes I just leave this on whilst doing nothing, it's zen as hell 😂 As a drone pilot myself I just love seeing people enjoying their flights and taking the time to watch the scenery.
it's funny that you say that. in my comment I wanted to say that this video is THERAPY to anyone craving the excitement of RC and or exploration with some danger. but I didn't want to sound like a total corn ball. but ibv. I am not the only one thinking it. amazing comment. I see this video inspires you as it does me.
I was thinking sbout the good ole days when we would push the envelope with drones like the first people to fly or break the sound barrier or leave earth. I use to watch your videos in awe. Just blown away. Now im watching videos of drones with thermal and night vision and ai assisted tracking. Still blown away.

Absolutely Kevin. RIP DISCO #1 😂👍

Kevin Jolley i remeber commenting on the stream before he lost it that he was gonna lose it
I ran Phoenix Drone Service for years... started it in my garage. We had a system called No Drone left behind. Ive climbed cliffs, risked the elements and my life to get downed equipment back. Never forget the drones the gods take, and fight like hell to keep your robots out of their evil clutches!
😂👍
Get a polarising filter, and eliminate all water surface reflections.
Will look into something that will work 👍
Wool Verigne yep that why pilots don't wear polarising sunglasses
Just ND is enough :)
David Webb Polarizing filter rotated to the right angle will reduce, possibly eliminate, reflection from water surface...
... but I do not think that would be a good idea at all. It will very much reduce the visibility of the surface and immediately make it much harder to estimate height. For instance, there would be a complete loss of parallax progression information as the reflection moves through the frame at higher speed than the floor of the sea. That is a big clue to speed AND height.
Wool Verigne
kaszphotocreative is on Insta She uses Tiffencompanies polarizers on her drone.
Bro this has to be one of the coolest things I've seen. I stayed at Kapalua in Maui and always wondered how far the trip would be to Lanai or Molokai. Of course I didnt dare attempt this with my Mavic but its just cool to see thanks for the content.
That was Awesome, I was glued to the screen
I just saw this as a youtube recommendation. I don't know anything about RC and drone things but this would be cool to be used in rescues.
The issue you had at higher elevation is likely technical of interference and not the cell signal. You may have been crossing a terrestrial microwave link between islands. Your flight path chosen for shortest distance may be in the same path used for microwave links. You may be able to find info on microwave link sights and avoid this interference in the future.
That is unreal! Never knew such a thing was possible. Brilliant!

Whewwww! This is a lovely video! The editing and the content is brilliant!!! Keep up the good work!!!
This is the coolest thing I've watched in a while
I truly love watching long flights like this. Epic.
This was amazing - I can’t believe you flew so far and the battery life just lasted forever. Insane!
I just started getting into rc flight. I love it. But this is awesome that you can fly 10 miles away with such clarity.
That was quite a clever bit of flying and makes you wonder what we will be able to do as batteries improve.
I notied that the plane was very stable for the whole flight but rather surprised that the radio signal cut out at such a short range.
I did see a video where a guy had solar panels stuck to the upper wing and flew for near on twelve hours, only coming njin because the sun was going down making seeing a problem.
It made me think about the fact that I have seen solar panels that come in a sheet form that is very flexible, and sooner or later these will be really thin and light from a weight point of view, this will allow all day flying which really will test the range of r.c.
I think the flying wing has a lot more goingnfor it than we have yet seen and there is as yet plenty of room for inavation in design to improve its flight patterns.
Good video fun to watch.
Wow, incredible flight! Parrot Disco + Dustin = adventure........
Now we need a Jet powered Disco :) Congrats! Its really a win win for everyone who you sought help from also, too cool. Hopefully other Companies and products will follow suit :) Peace, Wheelchair John in Idaho :)
k6lsn, oh yes! Imagine flying a tiny jet FPV and maybe even via 4G! Just the thought that this is actually possible at an amateur level - we truly live in the future!!! But I guess, flying a tiny jet remotely at 100mph++ outside LOS would be a far greater and more risky challenge...
I'd love to be part of such a project, though...
Just noticed this video even though I have been subscribed for a while. Crazy cool. Last time I was in Maui was in 2016 and I took my Phantom 4 with me. Flew it off that rock wall thing at the marina in Lahaina to a cruise ship that was a mile out. Thought that was super cool at the time but this is so sick.
I love this. You should do more long distance over water videos!
