  • I went down to Martins ferry and Rayland in hope of seeing the Unstoppable Locomotives for the movie. I saw 9 of the engines they use, i even got up close to a few while they were getting ready to shoot! These are the loco's for the Movie "Unstoppable"!
    Enjoy!
    Thanks For Watching!

The AWVR is a Hollywood fabrication is fictional line. The closest is the Allegheny Valley Railroad(AVR) which took over the remains of the Mononhahelia Connection railroad when LTV Steel went Bankrupt. The AVR runs about 60 miles of trackage out of the Pittsburg area. The Movie Co. put in a "W" to release the AVR from liability in case of a grade crossing accident. All movie companies do that.

I wish CP kept at least one of the locomotives in the AWVR paint scheme for special interest.

Meme Central the GE (red and black) locomotives are CP's. I'm not sure who owns the EMD (Gray and blue w/ yellow) locomotives.

the wheeling and lake erie owns the emd sd40-2s. one of the sd40-2s is seen in the video with what looks like pallets on the front of it. that was a scrapped sd40 that they used as a 360 degree camera car.

@Trainmasterkreks I wondered that too, especially since in the movie it clearly retains it's original equipment handbrake on the left side of the short nose.

because they have need other engines for back up, i think there are 4 SD40-2 with the numbers 1206. i think 3 work and one is a movie locomtive that does not run.

alright i will look for that when i see it today. also those are AC4400CW's because of the GE steerable trucks on them. do a little research and you"ll find out i'm right.
