A very helpful and comprehensive review, thanks
This was the first review I've watched for this machine and reading the comments you have obviously improved since, to add maybe sense of humour to this ...lmao it's like your a drunk with the shakes dying for that coffee ....
+Sue Gillespie haha my dodgy camera work, glad I've got a tripod now,,,thanks for your comments very much appreciated...yes I have improved since the early days...I don't know what it is though ,my mind goes a bit blank when I start filming and then when I finish I think "I should of said this and I should of said that"...maybe I should write a script before filming but I only have a short time to make a review due to other commitments..thanks again and keep watching.
Ty.
Great 👍 video well done 👏 I will have to get one
Great review but think you've had too many coffee's judging on how shaky the camera work is
Sorry bout that...pre tripod days.
hahahahah lol
Why would you fill the whole cup when you're using a espresso machine? If you want an americano you add hot water after. Now you are just extracting the bitter taste from the coffee. This is hurting my eyes.
+Emma Johnsen just my preference as I'm lazy and to be honest when I make an americano by adding hot water there is virtually no difference in taste from this..this isn't a high end espresso machine it's technically not even an espresso machine ,it's just a coffee machine using supermarket coffee of which 80% is bitter most of the time anyway. Many thanks.
Yes you have to stay alert with this machine...I used to just let it fill my cup when I first got it which honestly tasted fine to me...but now with the Dedica I make a single or double shot then add the water...the pressurised baskets are simple to use and you won't quite get as authentic an espresso as in a machine without pressurised baskets.
Why so rude Emma?
@@nacamo17 hahaha lol grow up
It’s relative.
If you’re making a video as if you’re “informing” others on how to use a product, you have to be open to criticism. Personally I think a coffee machine like this deserves to be used properly. According to what I’ve been taught as a barista, if you’re using this method you are at fault for the result tasting bad/not good enough. It’s important to acknowledge the difference between technique and the products potential.
It’s not fair to DeLonghi if the costumer’s coffee tastes bad due to a video on CZcams.
(I’m aware that the person isn’t a professional or is claiming to be. And has elaborated in the comment above)
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I’m sorry but this is so wrong , an espresso should run for 20 seconds producing 33 ml of espresso , to make an americano you make your double espresso then add hot water so that your not draining out all the dregs in the machine & furthermore burning the coffee , the finished result is foamy and could not be further from a good cup of coffee , as a barista I highly advise against buying this machine.
Thanks for adding your opinion...this is better described as a coffee maker really its not an espresso machine but can make an espresso of sorts...but for the price if its still even available to buy it makes a good cup of coffee at home...thanks again.
as a barista what home machine would you recommend?
At the moment I'm using the Delonghi Dedica and am quite happy with it...its not a fully authentic espresso machine but is good at home with no fuss.
i bought it today, very happy. Can I put milk to the water tank?
I wouldn't advise it...it will probably end up smelling after a while and the milk may block the machine... I know someone who tried it with a nespresso machine and it didnt work too well...just make a small espresso and then heat the milk with the steam wand.
@@dmcerrrmmmm thx mate. you right 👍
What does the button on the portafilter serve?,plus when i out it on the machine it doesn't fully strafe forward to begin the brewing process
Its meant to be there to hold the basket while you tap out the used grounds but I never used it and found it easier to remove the basket from the holder and tap the coffee out that way.
@@dmcerrrmmmm Now that is how professionals in bars do it😏🤣
how much coffe can u make from one dose?
Single or double espresso shot...but you have to start and stop this machine manually so you can run the machine to fill up your cup but that may affect taste...so its better to make your espresso shot then add hot water or milk depending on the drink you make...hope that helps.
@@dmcerrrmmmm thanks man very helpfull
This exactly how I make my coffee with my Delonghi just fill the cup all the way
I now make a single or double espresso because the dedica does a set amount rather than a manual delivery like this machine...and then boil the kettle and top the cup up for an americano...honestly though there isnt much noticeable difference in taste as some will say you will get a bitter drink doing it this way.
dmc...errrmmmm I’m lazy haha I’m going to try it out this way making a americano which I do with my nespressso
Just dont walk away while making a cup and forget its running...which ive done once or twice lol... then I'll hear that rumbling in the distance and think... shit.
I do think there is a bigger difference in taste making an americano in the Nespresso machine than the espresso machine rather than just just filling the cup up the lazy way...if that makes sense.
dmc...errrmmmm Ahah yes I done this the other day too used to the tassimo as it stops itself
Hi! What coffee are you using here ? I have this machine and bought all types of coffee for it and keep getting horrible watery coffee like instant although my packers say it's suitable for a coffee machine! Please help
+rachel dunbar I buy all types but this machine struggles a bit with espresso grinds that are fine ,one tip is don't tamper the coffee in the filter much as they are pressurized and don't need much tampering..
+rachel dunbar what coffee's have you had bad experiences with?.
What is the difference between ECC220.R and EC155? Thanks
+MJ Labs I think the ecc155 is the older model of the one reviewed here it has a metal finish to parts were the ecc220 is all plastic. I think the ecc155 is considered the better machine from reviews I have seen online but I'm not sure if it's still in production. hope that answers your question.
Thank you very much, I can locally buy the ECC221.R (not ECC221.B) and EC155 easily and they are selling at a good price. In fact, the ECC221.R is cheaper. From your review of ECC221.B and the review of EC155, I can tell that EC155 has an edge over ECC221.B. It produces water as 192 C through the filter and obviously steam would be hotter than that. I see that there is very small space between the drip tray and the filter on both machines. What do you recommend, if not the DeLonghi? Thanks once again!
I just realized that R is for red and B is for black haha
MJ Labs I was going mention that but thought you knew haha. I looked around for a while but the Delonghi machines were the more reliable buy in that price bracket of course you could spend more and go for a more high end machine but the Delonghi met my needs for the time being...it is a pain but you can remove the drip tray to fit a larger cup you can also fit a biggish cup in if you tilt it slightly when you place it under the machine with the drip tray in place .
Thanks, I think I am going to order the EC155, it is only 133 and ECC221 is 106 USD. Do you think I should save money and buy a newer model? :D both are 1100W another surprise.
What kind of coffee and what is its name
Sorry I don't remember.
boss it takes an effort to make a review video for anything, so why not do it properly. your video is too shaky.
+yousof mansoory many thanks for viewing this was one of my first videos and I've learned a lot since then, all feedback is greatly appreciated take a look at my one year update review you'll be glad to hear that's filmed using a tripod.
