I reckon I am a knot knuffy [Yes, a new word!], and of course CZcams now supplies an endless number of demonstrations of different knots and their applications across the world. But this is the first I have seen to incorporate coloured wire in the demonstration. So easy to follow - and no more rewinding for me. Such a simple but brilliant idea! Well done Tim.
This is very interesting - I'm a piano technician and use this knot routinely to join piano string wire, like doing break repairs, So, obviously the knot is very robust. Knot away!!
So it looks like the Figure-eight knot strength exceeds the recommended strain of 184 kg by a huge margin (180%), even if it's below the wire breaking strength. I can live with that. Thanks for the test!
Great video! I'm a seasoned PHD (post hole digger) ... Cattle fence in Virginia. Tim..... I've watched your interview with Tim White, fence builder, probably 10 times. Filming a guy like that is just awesome. Thanks for the good work!
Good morning, Tim I love science as well when it's put into practice. Excellent demo. I had finished my coffee before watching. Just in case I got excited and spilled it. Cheers, I will be sharing this video.
wow sir. to illustrat more visually, you put a board behind the knots - it was superb , u made 3 illustrations to know how to put the knot , good effort and very creative u are ! you nailed that method into my memory i reckon nobody would never forget this knot-making-method once they watch this video. good teacher u are
Tim, your knot videos have made me look like a fencing pro at the Buffalo ranch. I have your videos downloaded to my phone for reference. You made me LOVE my Hayes Chain strainer!!!!! Thanks
Thanks for this, Tim!! :)
this may sound crazy... i was tuning the bass strings on my old upright piano... was not paying attention and tightening the wrong string and POP broke a wire... not easy to find one bass string and did not want to order a whole set... so i found this and with GREAT effort was able to bend the wire (piano wire is high carbon 400 ksi... not easy to work with)... make this knot and put it back on and tune it...and as the Aussies say... Bob's your uncle! Thanks!
Very interesting, and the knot is stronger than the 50-55% I'd have guessed.
Great vid mate

I’ll certainly use it. Thanks
Brilliant trick! Thank you very much!
very clear pattern
Perfect. Thank you!
thank you much appreciated 👍
Nice
Perfect timing. Been watching a bunch of your old fencing vids as well and have done a great fix up job around the property. Thanks mate! Would love to see you do a video on setting posts - especially in very stony ground. Our place is an old river bed so we can’t just use an auger. Any tips?
That's a good advert for Spiral Fast.
