- I really missed the excitement of Barbie Explorer, so I hoped Barbie: Race and Ride would give me the same thrill. Sadly... it didn't. Unless you love wandering a set path and staring at animals made of 4 pixels, then you're going to love it!

ABOUT THE GAME
Barbie Race & Ride is a 1999 Barbie horse-related video game for the PlayStation. Its equestrianism-based gameplay makes it a spiritual predecessor to the Barbie Horse Adventures series.
Players can decide whether to play in 1-player mode or 2-player mode (in 2-player mode, they will not be able to clean and care for their horse). A player will choose an outfit for their character and then they'll pick their horse.
Before players can go out on one of the trails, they must go through a riding lesson. Once that's taken care of, they can go to four areas. The beach, forest, meadow and mountain. Of the four playable areas, only the Beach and the Meadow will let them race against other players. There is also a "Secret Ranch," where players find a foal and win the game.
There are only four horses players can choose from: a palomino, a paint, a white, and a dapple gray. Barbie will explain the personality of each of the horses as the player moves their arrow among them. When a player selects their horse, they will be given a list of names to pick out, such as "Blaze," "Flash," "Ariel," "Beauty," "Duchess," or "Princess."

@@ToridoriGaming My memories are vague...I do remember playing it and getting frustrated because it seemed like there was nothing else to do. My child brain thought that because I never saw any credits or anything, there was more to the game I was missing. But no, it really is just a shitty collection of bad mini-games. I do remember that the hare you missed on the mountain level IS an actual mini game though. Don't remember what sort, but a game nonetheless. And I'm pretty sure there's a way you can groom your horse? And there was a clam mini game on the beach...that's all I remember.

Most of the Barbie games I played when I was little were the princess games on the PC. I remember them being a lot of fun. It's probably just my nostalgia talking, but they have to be better than both Explorer and this.

When i put Twisted Metal on my phone emulator, i obviously did a mistake, Barbie: Race and Ride is where it's at, with it's pre-rendered practice mode, eyeless squirrels, exciting five pixel animal sightseeing and careless riding into wilderness at night!
Also, for a game called "Race and Ride", there sure is little racing in this game, and by little i mean NONE.

You should play barbie horse adventures and also a dogs life! Those games are my favorite for the ps2

Try barbie pet rescue! It's a point and click game where you rescue baby animals and the graphics are decent lol. It would be awesome to see you do a video of that game!

As awful as barbie explorers was... at least it had more content. This is just a jumble of pointless mini-games and sometimes there is a horse. On another note, Psychotic Blaze is a metal af name for a horse.

If you want to play a PS1 game that makes no sense, and is much more insufferable then this game. Then you got to try Rocket Power Team Rocket Rescue. I only own it physically because I want to let people know it's the worst game I own. Nothing I can pick up can match the level of crap that this game gives you. Sonic o-6 is a better game than Rocket Power Team Rocket Rescue. ET for the Atari 2600 is better then Rocket Power Team Rocket Rescue.
