Treasure Planet on the PS1 is not a good game. It's not completely awful, but it is mediocre. Not to mention the fact it keeps ripping off the Spyro trilogy. Oh and Jim's face is the stuff of nightmares. But hey, at least we can make memes out of it!

ABOUT THE GAME
I normally Wikipedia this sheeit, but there's next to no information other than 'critics did not like this'. This is all there is:
Sony Computer Entertainment released a Treasure Planet action video game for the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 in November, developed by Bizarre Creations. The company used Softimage's XSI engine for modeling, texturing and animation, and released a Making-of video on their Facebook page in 2008. A Game Boy Advance game based on the film was also released.
So yeah...

Actually it kinda reminds me more of the Stuart Little 2 game on PS1
EDIT: Okay so I did a bit of research and this game is made by Magenta Software, the same people who made Stuart Little 2 on PS1. I actually remember growing up with that game and I liked it.
I'll check it out then, always fun to play a new PS1 game. 😀

The PS2 version was my first game. Ah the memories...
And I've heard a lot better than the PS1 version, I intend to play it and see the differences. :D
Oh man, I remember playing this as a kid. Completed it, too. It was really tough iirc - or maybe just poorly designed. I didn't see the movie until like, a decade later in my teen years either.
That warping effect is really strange though. The boxes, when you look through the fence... They all curve and bend in weird ways, to the point the fence's diagonal wires literally straightened out, like you were looking through a fish eye lens or something. I'm half tempted to boot up my old PS1 copy and see if Jim's world bends and breaks like in this on the original too, same with the loading screens having small seizures.
The loading screens are most likely the emulator messing up in some way, but I have no clue why they included a fish eye perspective... 😂
3:07 ooh, that’s a character from a scene that was cut from the movie if i remember right.
basically at the beginning after the scene where jim gets back to the benbow after arrested, he went up to the roof. but in a cut scene he went to work on his solar surfer instead, and met this kid asking for help to fix his scooter. he offers to help and goes to grab something to fix it and then the kid’s dad shows up and tells jim that he’s got it and they don’t need him. the scene was supposed to be a way to introduce jim’s struggle with his own father and also show that he has a soft side. anyways yeah this character looks like that kid he helped in that scene lol
I remember dying constantly in this game because my dumbass thought you could jump onto the background ships.
The new Moneybags is definitely Watto from Star Wars.

Treasure Planet? The character model looks more like Quasimodo from "The Hunchback on Notre Dame".

A lot of the PS1 era Disney games ripped off both Spyro and Crash including a Donald Duck game that ripped off Crash Bandicoot if you want more information look for a video called Donald Bandicoot it was by Caddicarus

There were certainly some classics from back then you could try out, Toy Story 2, Bugs Bunny Lost in Time, Lego Island, the PS1 Harry Potter games, etc. Good times!
This has reminded me of a Lilo and Stitch ps1 game which was kinda like crash bandicoot and i remember being unable to defeat the first boss. Not sure if that was because i was just trash or the game itself, completely forgot the game existed so it probably wasn't that good

So many Spyro mechanics in this game! First Disney rips off Kimba the White Lion, now Spyro? I suppose Treasure Island being in Public domain was no fun for them?
When I first started this video I said it more in jest. By the end though, holy crap... how much can you rip off another game without being sued? 😂
@@ToridoriGaming The rats going toward that fruit stand is so similar to the turtles drawn to the cauldron in Spyro 2, also I was expecting the load screens to be Jim flying by on that hover sail board thing, in the same manner Spyro flies from world to world *Lol.*

That mayor guy sounds like Sgt. Byrd in A Hero's Tail. That's probably what you were thinking of.
So I looked up the voice actor for AHT's Sgt. Byrd (Michael J. Gough) and he did actually do voice work for a Treasure Planet game.. just not this one. What a coincidence though, huh? 😂
I've actually have passed by this game EVERY TIME I go to this local used game store. Maybe this is why......

Am I the only one that constantly gets Treasure Planet and Atlantis: The Lost Empire confused sometimes?
The games or the films specifically? If the films they have similar concepts, don't they? Looking for a long lost city/hoard of treasure, a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed lad who can't wait for the adventure, themes of steampunk/future tech mixed in with ye olde times, and both films did poorly at the box office. I can understand the confusion!

Definitely nostalgia talking but I like this game. The races are absolutely awful but it plays fine and has some dumbass lines I still remember lmao Somehow never made Spyro connections
Also, if you press triangle, the blob thing turns into a paraglider so you can glide... another Spyro elelement. Heck.

The PS2 version is a huge (to the point a 7-year old me noticed this) rip-off of the first Jak and Daxter, right down to basic animations.

Basically rips off Spyro? Not mentioning that despite it's quality Spyro himself was quite a typical collectothon of it's time, trying to follow Super Mario 64's success. Pretty much like Banjo Kazooie, Toy Story 2 and numerous less well-made wannabes.
Yes, but this game had a whole section that was basically ripped out of Spyro 2's Hurricos level. Diodes stolen stopping progression, dudes with wrenches breaking the machines, being tasked to deal with said ruffians.

He's called Morph and he's the pet of John Silver, so a replacement for a parrot essentially. What's weird though is Jim shouldn't have met Morph yet, as he only does so when he boards the ship to leave on his journey. 😂

@@ToridoriGaming Not as bad as this, I did find it difficult more than some times. It was like, what am I supposed to do?! I remember I was stuck at some place for a long time..I don't think I even finished the game. I prefer the movie, I loved that movie too.

@@ToridoriGaming If my childhood memory is correct then yes it gets much worse and the platforming is even more awful and the mini games that you have to complete to get through the levels get a lot worse and unfair.
Well that is providing young me just wasn't terrible at the game.
I actually find in some ways I'm worse at games now than I was as a kid. My reflexes must be getting rusty!
