Many People did not hear about what was taking place in Mogadishu Somalia late December of 1990, the Somalia Government was collapsing under the weight of the bloody civil war. Rebel forces led by General Mohamed Farrah Aidid's were on pace to overthrow the Somalia Government and oust President Siad Barre in which it did happen in January of 1991 were he was able to escape from Mogadishu where he was forced into exile moving to Kenya and eventually Nigeria. There were many Foreign Embassies based in Mogadishu Somalia which included the South Korean Embassy that were trapped in the middle of the civil war. Diplomatic status meant nothing. The U.S. Embassy was rescued along with other Foreign Embassies in an military operation codenamed Operation Eastern Exit

Any Korean personnel are not allowed to visit Somali and not permitted visits is punishable. For that reason this movie is filmed in Morocco and actors are form there. It would be better to film it in Somali, but well…

Even Palestine doesn't have their Embassy in Mogadishu, it's in Djibouti City instead.

I mean this is about the civil war and the fall of the dictatorship. Clearly it shows somali being stable enough to have embassies and that do to the start of civil war many foreign ambassadors were stuck. How do you think siyad barre was removed office? He didn't just leave peacefull after being asked.
@@bangtanxseventendarknight4032 in all honesty when siyad barre was in charge was the only time the country had stable government, economy, dignity even entertainment. Many government who took over where nothing but weak and some where extreme conservatives rights. Others betrayed the country and allowed lands to be invaded. And the most current government is a show peace who only have power in Mogadishu while the rest is controlled by alshabab this government doesn't even have an army and the police are nothing but thugs. Half of the government officials are dual citizens who came to play politicians whilst their families live in Europe or america in safety. And we only hear about them once the new elections start. They have no plans for a central bank, education system, infrastructure, and health. All those things are all funded by private investors trying to help their own communities or make money of them. Siyad barre fell 30 years ago and the country has fell into even darker and deeper hole.
